Hi all!

I just found this thread and it looks like it will be a good one for me, as I need to take off a number of pounds. I've gone back to the South Beach Diet, as that really worked for me in the past, also.

I'll be starting the second week of phase one tomorrow, and the only thing I'm worried about is the fact that during phase one, you're supposed to have three meals and two snacks a day, and for most of this first week I haven't wanted to snack because I haven't been hungry, really. Last time, that wasn't the case.

Well, here's hoping I can make my goal of 20 pounds off by August!

WELCOME!!! You will love it here! The thread moves fast so read and post often!

Bird update: She just came to pick up the bird - a little before 9. Apparently, they were so tired when they got back last night and so busy today that they forgot the bird was here :confused3

forgot to post my review!!
Ratatouille BRILLIANT!! I laughed, and enjoyed every moment!! We watch the Disney channel and we have seen previews... but nothing prepared me for the Pixar short before the full length movie - commendable!! No words... but boy did those actions remind me of naturally curious kids - they must touch buttons!! too cute!! (and you have to see the movie to understand any of this!!)

They did a great job of making an icky rat... sympathetic character!

I am sitting in a hospital room.... My father-in-law has been having seizures since Friday night so we are here keeping vigil. They still don't really know what is wrong.

Anyhow, this whole weekend is shot as far as the diet goes. We have been sleeping and eating where and when we can.

You have my prayers for Father in law and whole family . I hope they find a quick resolution to the problem. It is incredible how many different possiblities there are for medical conditions. Even different possible bug bites get considered.

God bless you all :grouphug:

Thanks for all the comments about my pix!

ThinkTink... The sweetie pie is Shadow, a 4 year old male Saint Bernard. His previous family had 6 kids (all adopted I believe). They trained him to pull a wagon with a harness and to carry Kool-aid to the kids in a keg. When it came time to adopt #7, the agency said they had to "get rid" of Shadow. He is heart worm positive, but the shelter is paying for his treatments; however, the treatments will be very hard on him physically. The three shots themselves are painful. Plus we'll have to keep him calm and quiet until all the worms have dislodged from his heart and been absorbed by his body (icky, huh?). Some will travel to his lungs and cause him to cough... hopefully, not will act as a clot or anything. There is the possibility that he won't make it through the treatment... but the shelter vet just happens to be our vet as well and she says it is the best option.

I'm sure Shadow will be fine... I tend to take the optimistic view most times lately. And he is a big sweet doofus... reminds me of the dog on the Bugs Bunny cartoons that would say "Which way did he go, George? Which way did he go?"

The SF Giants rocked today. They haven't been doing so well, but their pitcher went to town, and the guys were hitting as well. The weather was beautiful, too. I looked online to find out if I could bring in my own food, and it was OK. I brought a pb and sugar-free jam sandwich, a mango Talking Rain sparkling water, and a bag of Smart Pop popcorn. I was able to resist nachos, hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, and most of all, a Ghirardelli hot fudge sundae. The food at that park is incredible. I'm so glad I went prepared. Sparkie, I was thinking of you. Are you on the wagon with me?

dene, you're such a good person for being willing to take care of shadow! most people wouldn't be willing to go through that. it just breaks my heart to see sick puppies....they're just so sweet and loving. :sad1: i'm obviously a dog lover - i'd have 20 if i had the room! i will be praying for your doggie and hoping that he gets through the treatments okay.

Wink- What a cute baby!!! She looks like she smells yummy!

Dene- Well hello again! WOW WEE, you are totally looking amazing! Totally inspiring!!!!

Still no internet. BOOOO! This is still my son's laptop with stolen wireless. Painfully slow...sorry not to post as much!

Still no side effects from taking alli. I think writing down EVERY bite helps. I betcha there's 200 daily calories in just the mindless little things.

My visiting friend just left earlier tonight (yesterday). We had a nice time. Her dd16 was modeling for a modest prom dress company so we found ourselves trying on PROM dresses in the shop....and TWIRLING!!!! I highly recommend doing this if you ever have occasion to be in a formalwear shop. Especially if you're over 40. I must say, it was a BLAST embarassing her very cute dd16!!! You're never too old to be a princess!

dwheat: Kinda on the wagon. I've had one leg hanging off and dragging a bit here lately though. We leave for Disney at the end of the week so I'm parking the wagon all together. But when we get back I'm going to do some serious rearranging. I had a recent unpleasant mall experience that I dont wish to have ever again. Good thing to go with a plan to the ballpark- I just love ballpark food- its right up there with state fair food- but I know I cant - not if I want to change. Stay strong- resist the nachos!;)

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Another beautiful day in the bluegrass state!

I slept in today and Sandy's not even here to scold me! SANDY!?!? I fell asleep in my pool cover up after watching Grease last night. I guess that means I'm going back to the pool today! Yay!
I am sitting in a hospital room.... My father-in-law has been having seizures since Friday night
:grouphug: Prayers sent for a quick diagnosis and recovery, Kat.
The annoying part is that they have been home for over 24 hours and still have not come over
Isn't this the second time you've kept it? Psssst....I'm not sure they want it back! I think I'd be "busy" next they ask. ;)
Well, here's hoping I can make my goal of 20 pounds off by August!
:welcome:
Ratatouille BRILLIANT!!
Same review and two big :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 from the picky teenagers. Now I KNOW it's good.
Thanks for all the comments about my pix!
You earned and deserved every comment, Dene! I love Shadow even more now that I know he can pull a wagon and carry kool-aid. How sad he must've been to be separated from his family and so lucky to have you and DD to be with him through his treatment.

HOW FUN!!! Maybe I'll try that! BTW...are you picketing Verizon tomorrow? I would be!
We leave for Disney at the end of the week so I'm parking the wagon all together.
Sparkie...it's OK to park the wagon and there has been a motion and a second to take one week off weigh in after a Disney vacation. So relax. OH! When you are at the World Showcase, please walk into the Biergarten and ask if Guido is working. If so, get a picture! Winkers was drooling over him and didn't even get a picture!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

:lmao: i can just picture this in my head! too cute!

I slept in today and Sandy's not even here to scold me!

you posted that at 7:09 a.m. and said you slept in.....:rotfl2: sleeping in to me is somewhere around 10:00. and yes, i know that will change when (and if) i ever have children. i got up at 7:15 this morning and i wanna go back to bed!!!

i'm off to atlanta for a deposition. fun! i would rather drive 6 hours in the country than drive the hour it takes me to get to atlanta just because of the traffic i have to deal with. blah! i think if i'm off tomorrow i'm gonna go thrift store shopping because none of my clothes are fitting these days and i can't afford to go buy all new ones! then tomorrow night we're having some people over for dinner and our neighbors are shooting off fireworks, probably because they all have to work on thursday so they're doing it tomorrow night instead. they spent $1500 on fireworks this year....:scared1: craziness.

have a great (and skinny) day everyone!!!! :flower3:

YES! In the winter time I get up around 5. But my general wake up time is 6. If it's light outside...I've slept in!

Do you get "good" fireworks in Georgia or did you buy them all in TN?? We only get the lame-o fireworks in KY! Sparklers and such.

WOOHOOTY :cool1: First post on the Dis - first post on the thread!! Keep it healthy!! Stay the course!! As other posters will tell you, this thread gets chatty, often I chat here instead of putting food in my mouth - find what works for you, and come sit, post and share!!

BRRRrrrr another cccooolllD mornin!! (62deg - its supposed to get hot and humid tomorrow!! This is just weird weather! Thinking of those in the line of the floods - just hard to imagine!)

Kat, Fidge, Bee Thinking of you! :grouphug:

Melinda :rotfl2: I would've been online, but dh scolded me yesterday for getting out of bed at 5am... so I tossed and turned another couple of hours... then snuck out... crept downstairs... and caught up on the Glasgow/London bombins... so I'll let you slide today!! :cool2: (I was set to watch Grease too, but must've missed it - had fun watching Next Foodnetwork Star, and Army Wives! Knew they wouldnt kill off an army husband, then the wife would have to move off base, and then what happens?)

Still havent colored my hair - I deep conditioned it yesterday... I have the ion Light red brown color right here (5R) and I look in the mirror... way brown... what will I do??? hmmm... stay tuned!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!

I weighed in this morning and am down 7 pounds, so only 13 more to go! I didn't really exercise this week, as there was a lot going on, but I hope to get walking a lot more this week. Plus, I had some foods that were not approved on Phase one, so I'm kinda happy with being 7 down.

I hope everyone's Monday goes well!

Even sparklers are illegal in NY...however that being said. We used sparklers last night! It was fun!

Sandy- ooooh an unfolding haircoor drama! That's right up my alley. My cupatea!

Pandora- 7 pounds!!!!Wooooo HOOOOOOOO!!!! That's great!

Punkie- yup, it was fun trying on the POOFiest prom dresses we go find. We looked like we were having a 40 year old pity prom. It was hysterical!

Ok, dieters, I discovered the best diet food! It's no fat eggs called Egg Beaters. I'm sure you've heard of it, but it's super cool to eat egs with NO fat. They are really pretty good! Perfect even for you south beachers to keep down the fat. I've never bought it because I thought it was too spendy. But I found a good deal on it at Costco. I'm trying to impliment more lower fat food for my kids to eat. My 2 boys are getting chubby-ish. My 9 year old gains easy. He is the one I'm worried about. He's not "all muscle" if you know what I mean. So if I can switch some healthier choices without him knowing, I think it'll help him. I can't buy little packaged fruit snacks for example without my kids eating 4 or 5 pouches. GRRRRR!

Is anyone doing or heard of Kimkins? It's a new version of Atkins.
I'm just counting calories and fat grams (day 9 of alli-I don't take it if there's no fat)

Lexy- Verizon is our cell phone folks. MSN is our internet. DH is "on it" I'm sure he (not so) secretly loves that I'm on the computer alot less.

Pixie- How funny that even sparklers are banned! That's nuts! Are y'all having a drought? We can only have ground firworks. But some folks drive to Wyoming for the good stuff! :rolleyes1

Sounds like I'll have to try some Egg Beaters! :)

One of the diets I was into - 6wk body makeover calls for lots of egg whites - and they suggested you make your own to save $$ - You see if you buy one dozen eggs (around $1.89 for 18 eggs at sam's) and throw away the yokes you save! Add some food coloring, and a lil dry mustard powder and you're good to go!! (that's from memory, I used to just buy the egg beaters at Sam's!)

I even think there was a recipe for egg salad using egg beaters... but again, they suggest to just boil your eggs and throw away the yokes!! Mustard, no mayo! (eta - you 'fry' the egg beaters let cool, then cut into cubes for their color and texture in the egg salad - you can use fat free mayo - or just use some apple cider vinegar and mustard)

Here's another great recipe for sausage! Buy ground turkey (at Sam's its cheaper!) add spices to your taste (cayenne, black pepper, sage, etc) form into patties cook, (depending if you will save for later or eat now - for eat now cook through - if you are going to freeze then pop in the microwave for later you can cook a lil on rarer side! It takes some getting used to, even if you do cook through and reheat I think they taste fine - but dh thinks they dry out that way!)
