i've never had pecans in chess pie before, but i'm sure it would be good! that's why that calorie count is so high though.

and it is sugar in pie crust, but it's really yummy!!! it has sort of a buttery flavor to it or something. i LOVE chess pie. it's something i cannot resist. i'm not a sweets girl, but i have a weakness for it.
Hmmm. If I ever see it on a menu I may hae to try it
Snow - just know that God loves you, and your relationship with HIm can lead you to a better church where you can learn

Thanks:thumbsup2

Must add my gushes - so gorgeous, talk about beauty - you are fantabulous! Thank you for sharing - the look in your eye, its pure mamma luv!! (and I love your highlights - I'm so not daring - ) your photographer gets kudos, they have captured the love and beauty so well!!

:rotfl: My cousin makes chess pie for her dh, I'm with the poster that said it was like pecan pie w/0 pecans... only more custard like... custard pie... thicker than a flan - or creme bruelle... but good!!

Shoo fly pie is more like pecan pie imho (no pecans) and its shoo fly because flies love the sugar and people were like "go away fly, shoo fly!!) seriously!!( gotta luv the research a 3rd grade teacher has to have !)
I learn something new everyday from my Peeps!

Good Morning!

Melinda...Kids around here are just starting Spring Break! Hope you get moving easily this morning and can get them all out the door with no incidents! :goodvibes (First day back was always full of drama in my house!)

Eventer...4 days until your wedding, you have nothing planned but riding today and you're up already?!? Why???? :confused3 Take a breather today and go over the last details for the wedding and enjoy!!!!

So, I am having a dilemma. After the patch test I found out I am allergic to formaldahyde. That in itself isn't too bad. I have to wash new clothes, as it's in them to make them look nice, I have a list of products that don't contain it. OK, I can stay away from it in products. BUT....what I found out last night was, aspertame turns into formaldahyde in your systems when you digest it. Aspertame is in ALL diet drinks, sweetened flavored waters...you name the sweetened diet food and it's in there!!! How much to you eat or drink that contains it?!? I am going to stop drinking diet coke & the sweetened waters that I like & live on for the month of April. If this rash clears up, I'll have solved my problem and will no longer drink diet drinks. I have drank diet soda for almost 30 years!!!! Other than water, what do I drink now????? (vent over)

I'll take all beverage recommendations you have, as long as it doesn't contain aspertame!!!! :rolleyes1

 DO to your allergy find!! SPLENDA is your friend! its the yellow packet, one diet drink (RC?) Does have splenda only... its in more and more sugar free products because you can bake with splenda, not with aspartame - its (aspartame) been known to cause quite a few problems, there was a website that listed them (including the formeldyde - but its been a long time since I read it!) so I warned my kids, and we just dont do asparatame - Good Luck!! allergies are always frightful!

That's what foundation and cover-up is for!! I had a zit like the one you are talking about last week (TMI?? lol ) but luckily is has gone underground again!!

Have you tried ProActive? (you can get a facsimilie at WalMart) IT REALLY WORKS!! DS had horrible acne - we tried Proactive and viola! Also, I swear by Bare Minerals, it covers up my age spot under my eye (I was accused by kids and scouts of having dirt there! so sad!) and I tried the scar cover up make up - plaster - not nearly as effective as Bare Minerals (You can get it at Ulta stores) However, do test your makeup - and get pictures of you in your Wedding Makeup - I think BE tends to be more shiney in pictures (as the main ingredient is mica, which is shiney!) :grouphug: :grouphug: How exciting - your wedding is almost here!!

Right now I can't send PMs, e-mails or whatever, or even put an attachment on the board. BUT I did notice a Hidden Mickey towards the end of the movie. The movie has a recurrent theme throughout it, and then after the movie is over, they quote WD, and it's a little bit of a tear jerker. See? No spoilers there. ;)

Just start posting like crazy... like this post, you could have posted it in 3 seperate posts ( :rolleyes1 not that I ever try to up my post count!! :rolleyes1 ) :rotfl2:

I asked dh and dd what in the ending was a tear jerker, and they looked at me like I was nuts - they loved the movie (it was a daddy/daughter date) and they keep quoting it... and cracking up!! They want to see it in 3D (only $21!!)

What a loverly Mama/Daughter moment! Love your new highlights!

You are both beautiful! So sorry about the shiner.:sad2: Hopefully it will heal soon without going through all the colors of the rainbow. :sad2: :rotfl:

I'll take all beverage recommendations you have, as long as it doesn't contain aspertame!!!! :rolleyes1

So sorry about the allergy. I quit drinking diet drinks when I found that out too. I think it also contributed to my short term memory loss. :confused3 Don't have any documented proof of that, but I heard that somewhere.

I have a drink recommendation though, Propel. It is made by Gatorade. It is sweetened with Sucrose syrup (sugar), so it is safe. It only has 25 calories in a 16 oz bottle. I LOVE it!. I put an 8 oz. bottle of Kiwi-Strawberry in my 55 oz water jug, and fill up the rest with plain filtered water. It gives it just enough taste to flavor it.

Good luck to you!

Has anybody made RESSIES for the Peep Meet yet? Just wondering how to find out pricing info? If you can help an inexperienced DISer, it would be greatly appreciated.

That's what everyone was saying today..that it will be over in a flash. As long as I can dance all night it will be worth the bucks we shelled out!! :dance3:

Super cute pic!! :cutie: Did I hear you mention in a PP that you are a nanny as well?? I have been a nanny for 10 years now!

Just got back from Blades of Glory. Pretty good. I was hoping it would be much funnier but still a nice 90m. escape. DF had a headache so I took my "bf" Dave. He's my best guy friend that is also in the wedding. When DF doesn't want to do something with me he tells me to call my boyfriend. :rotfl:
Yes, it will all be over so fast. The one tip somebody gave me was be sure to step back with your new husband to the back or side of the room and watch everyone. Take a few minutes to really see everyone enjoying the day you worked so hard for. I still remember the mental picture I took that day and it has been 6 yrs now.

Anfd yes! I am a nanny! I have also been one on and off for about 10 yrs. Kids are my life:goodvibes

this reminds me of another wedding story. i never get pimples or blemishes. never. i've been very blessed in that department and i am very thankful for it. the day before my wedding i woke up with a huge volcano on my left cheek. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: during the rehearsal my father actually said to me in response to me telling him he has to kiss me on the cheek after he gives me away, "ewwwww....i don't want to kiss your zit." gee....thanks dad! luckily, it had went down somewhat the day of the wedding. it was still there, though. in my wedding video there's some footage of the rehearsal and it was SO BIG and gross!!!!!!!

okay.....sorry to scare eventer with wedding horror stories. i'm sure you'll look beautiful and acne-free on your big day!!!! :flower3:

OMG! Me too! I woke up with one so large it needed its own zip code! It was hideous. The make up lady did a great job covering it though. Only I can notice it in the pictures.

END of September!!! (I think)

Good Morning!

Ha! We have 3 dogs so sleeping in past 7 is impossible. Granted, I could feed them and go back to bed but by then I am wide awake. Just watched Amazing Race from last night. I love that show! Sad to see who got eliminated this week. (I won't tell incase any of you Peeps watch it and haven't seen last night's yet!)

I usually just use OTC stuff b/c there doesn't seem to be more then 3 at a time hanging around. Anything I use dries my face out though so I have to be careful. Ugh..it's tough being a girl!!

Yeah I finally found a "normal" family to work for after all these years. The pay is less then usual but I will take the trade-off. I have worked for some real whackos....the stories I could tell! I am hoping I will only be working another 2 years. If we start a family soon I will be able to bring a baby to work and then hopefully save enough so I don't have to work. It's tough to take care of someone else's kids year after year and get no appreciation or respect. That's why I like the family I have been with this past school year...b/c they are "normal" they treat me like a person..not an endentured servant.

Yeah, I was sad too. Now I don't know who I am rooting for. :confused3 Don't want to say any more either, lest I ruin it for someone. ;)

I guess I will just root for the team that fought over the cookies...if you know who I mean! I like them. :goodvibes

Hoppy Easter Peeps!

NO peeps in my house, gladly. Marshmallow ones are icky....Skinny Minnie ones would be GREAT!

My kids got Veggie Tails videos and Poke mon cards (they are "back in style here") and a crapload of chocholate. SOMEHOW I have to segway into the resurrection of Christ. The symbols of Easter are for newness and spring.

LexMelinda! It was good to hear your voice!!!! You are SOOOOO cute! :hug:I cant wait to talk to you again! Love the Easter graphic you posted. That is the focus of the day, not jelly beans.
We love Veggie Tales!!
HAPPY RESURRECTION SUNDAY, EVERYONE! :sunny:

"You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen!" (Mark 16:6)
Oh, Heather! I hope you do not get it either and hope your babies are all better today.
HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE!!! :wave2:
Well as of now I have not gotten it--Joshua is still sick. He seemed better last night and I was goingto take him to daycare so I could sanitize the house and finish all of my IEP's. Well went to get him up and he got sick all over his bed. Needless to say he is home with all of us. DH started the virus diet this morning. Hopefully I won;t---I cannot get sick I have a meeting with 5 parents tomorrow about IEP's and another 5 on Wed. WE did not make it to church but my lovely mom brought us dinner--even the stuff I was supposed to have fixed. I have had another bad migraine yesterday and was up most of the night with it. I took my second darvacet this morning--hopefully this will finally nock it out.

Wanna see my bunny cake? I am a bit proud of this because I wasnt sure I could pull it off. The bunny is actually 2 halves being held together with chocolate buttercream. The bow is fabric in case you cant tell, and the eggs are cadbury mini eggs My favorite :cloud9: I am not sure I am going to be able to cut this one, I may have to make somebody else do it!

That is an awesome cake---Great job.

Happy Easter Peeps!!!!
You both look dashing. It is amazing how old she is beginning look.
Since you said you like to see cute kids in their easter finest.....Here is DD and me earlier today:
P1010103.jpg

Not sure if you can tell or not, probably not since it came out so small here, but right before we went to my moms house she walked into the corner of the ironing board and gave herself a nice shiner under her left eye. Poor baby! I still have no clue how she managed to do that!
ANother great Easter Picture. Sorry about her eye--it is funny how quick they can get hurt on important days.
Good Morning!

I cannot not drink things with aspertame in them--that goes for all the flavorings for water as well. It will cause a mirgriane quick if I am not careful and drink to much. It took me a while to realize that was causing some of them.
It IS stressful cooking for relatives!

END of September!!! (I think)

A stressful but funny cooking moment. My MIL is almost to certifiable crazy--I am not just saying it---anyway about 3 or 4 years ago I was in charge of Thanksgiving. That would have put me at 26 or 27. I have been cooking most of the Thanksgiving meals at his families house for years. Anyway this particular year I was in charge of everything but 1 dessert and the stuffing. The last minute DMIL decides to invite her brother and his new wifer and her daughter. No problem. Well I am cooking for 15 people not to bad. MIL decides to show up 3 hours early to just hang out :scared1: HIs grandmother show up anout 1 hour early and had brought cold beans--like were cooked but she put in the fridge, over night. I had everything planned that all the items would be coming off the stove or out of the ocen at the same time. SInce MIL showed up 3 hours early and had the stuffing she would not stop obsessing over it needing to be reheated. Also grandmas beans had to be heated up. Well THe turkery had just come out of the oven and it was carved--the desserts were out and the rolls were in. SO we put the stuffing in to heat up and DH put the beans on the sove to re warm--only thing he turned on the wrong eye---the eye that my casserole dish was sitting on--it was the green bean casserole. Well, about 5 minutes has passed and it is me DH, and DSIL (who I love) were in the kitchen and this explosion took place. THere was glass in the turkey, casserole,... As we were ckleaning up and I am trying not to cry--DMIL walks in and says--knowing what has happend--When are we going to eat--My Brother has not eaten all day--DH holds my arm and says soflty--just walk away. We were able to salvage only the dark meat because it was still covered--only the white meat was on the platter. I had another green bean casserole--but it was a small one and a small sweet potatoe casserole. Of course we had lots of stuffing.

The year that Joshua was born I offered to have Thanks giving at our new house which we slept in fot eh first time the night Joshua was brought home from the hospital. I figured it was easier that way so we would not have to travel. On actual TDay was my family and the next day was his family. Yes, I was cooking 2 meals, but I love to cook. Thanksgiving day goes great--then we head out to DH aunts house to visit cousins and such. I knew that 2 of thenm were coming over the next day for lunch and that was it. While we were eating DMIL started inviting evryone over the next day to see my house and to have lunch. I had to go to the store that night--becuase the lunch I was preparing for the next day was originally for 10 had jumped to 22 people. I did not have enough places for people to sit--the house was packed. I was up at the crack of dawn cooking. Lets just say we went to Disney last year for Thanksgiving because of that mishap. I boycotted his family for that reason.

I am sure that Thanksgiving will be back at my house this year since there will be a new baby again--but depending on how it goes--we may boycott everyone form now until eternity.

Yeah I finally found a "normal" family to work for after all these years. The pay is less then usual but I will take the trade-off. I have worked for some real whackos....the stories I could tell! :rotfl: That is so true! There are some real whackos out there. I recently left a family after close to 4 yrs. They simply outgrew me. It was a great job, I miss those kids! The family I am with now is only part time, by my choice. But they do at times trreat me like a maid more than a nanny. She has me doing laundry every day I am there, 3 days per week. I am literally washing things 2-3 times a week. I only do the kids things, so I recognize the clothes. The same shorts and stuff are getting washed 3 times a week. It is like she has me doing it so she runs no risk of having to do it herself. She also works from home. She sits a few feet from me on her laptop all day, doing her 'work' and watching tv along side me when the baby is asleep. It is just weird, and I feel uncomfortable with her right next to me all day. Oh well...she pays me well for it. I am looking for another position, but it is hard. I love that I can bring along my own child when she is not in school though. It is really the best of both worlds I think. There are quite a few families that wont interview me because of that though :confused3

That would be really weird having her watch you do her child's laundry. I would feel so guilty asking you to do that while I sat there beside you on my butt! Paying you well will only go so far. Hope you find a new family that will appreciate what you do for them. Not to say that your current family doesn't, it just seems that they are taking advantage of you.

Haven't been able to post in a few days. Crazy busy. This new class is killing me!! Can't remember if I told you about Jackson being sick. I think it may be Roto Virus. Started throwing up early Sat. morning. He was in my bed. Let me just say that Red Icee + soured Chocolate Milkshake = very red, very smelly puke. When I woke up he was leaned over the edge of my bed and I could hear it hitting the walls. Nice. Looked like a crime scene. He is getting better though.

Heather - is Joshua sick too.

Dance - that cake was gorgeous.

Hope everyone had a great Easter. Remember when a Peep not long ago confessed to eating a 6 pack of Resees eggs. Well, yesterday I am pretty sure I ate about 6 miniature Resees eggs and 3 mini Cadbury eggs. We won't even discuss the Easter meal.
Anyway, my DD and I were reading the Bible together last night. The passage was in Romans 7 where Paul is saying that he hates that he does the things he does not want to do and that he does not do the things he knows to do. If Paul struggled with this, I can see how we all struggle with it. Paul talked about his freedom through Jesus. That has been the missing link for me. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I ask God to help me with almost everything in my life. But when it comes to weight loss, I try to do it on my own. Obviously that is not working.

Oh gosh Pigget, I love to cook, and entertain too - but what an extreme - gotta luv dh taking you away from the explosion! and tell me why they didnt run to the store and bring back food - if they arent part of the solution, they are part of the problem!! good for you heading to WDW!! :woohoo:

We have the opposite problem, our house is so tiny tiny, I've gone to my mil and made dinner there!

My stove died a slow death so get this, I made my 8# ham in the CROCkPOT!! :rotfl2: and it worked - I didnt really believe the directions that it would take 8 hours! :rolleyes1 so we didnt eat until 7 pm!! (I was planning for 5pm!!) We had ham, baked beans, rolls, corn bread, aspargus, and chocolate pudding pie! (dh got the stove to work, and so I daringly tried to cook my cornbread - only to have it die after 15 min... thank goodness I baked it in a cast iron skillet - 5 min later he kicked the stove and it lit, so the cornbread came out ok!!)

HI FIDGE!! HI ALLIE!!

We havent made ressies - I think I'm depressed knowing many of you are opting out of a Jan peep meet, and heading down for free dining...

You know Stacey - thank you for sharing that insight - I havent reconciled with Paul yet, I'm very upset at how he hated women - I've been taking that so seriously, that I cant take any of his teachings to heart - they werent meant for me, they are meant for MEN... (lol maybe I should just think he was stricken with menareputz disease!)

so sorry you have the dread roto virus - horrid that!

Hear Ye Hear YE Please post in bold your Peep Meet dates!

There was a group that wanted to make a goal of a 5K - many of us jumped on board.... many meaning enough to consider doing a GRAND GATHERING!! (note my siggy!!)

I am now under the impression dates have changed to take advantage of FREE DINING.... (not that that is ironic or anything!!)

1. Are you going to WDW Jan 12 -14 for 5K/Marathon Weekend?

2. Have you made ressies for end of Sept?

3. Have you changed your mind - or have circumstances changed?

4. OR would you consider making Sept ressies - or Jan ressies???

inquiring minds and all that... I seriously would love to sit around with the peeps and laugh and talk, etc...

in September adn DH said maybe we should make it a him and me only trip! EEEK DIsney without the boy?? I don't know!
Leminda let me know when and where you are staying then maybe we can have a peep meet!

Ohhh and Happy Monday all!

When are you telling your ds about the trip??
