DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 3

I am sure that Thanksgiving will be back at my house this year since there will be a new baby again--but depending on how it goes--we may boycott everyone form now until eternity.

Geez....I don't think I could handle that!!! Hats off to you!! I can only bite my tongue for so long..it's very hard for me. We'd like to go to Disney for T-giving some year for the same reasons as you!

:rotfl: That is so true! There are some real whackos out there. I recently left a family after close to 4 yrs. They simply outgrew me. It was a great job, I miss those kids! The family I am with now is only part time, by my choice. But they do at times treat me like a maid more than a nanny. She has me doing laundry every day I am there, 3 days per week. I am literally washing things 2-3 times a week. I only do the kids things, so I recognize the clothes. The same shorts and stuff are getting washed 3 times a week. It is like she has me doing it so she runs no risk of having to do it herself. She also works from home. She sits a few feet from me on her laptop all day, doing her 'work' and watching tv along side me when the baby is asleep. It is just weird, and I feel uncomfortable with her right next to me all day. Oh well...she pays me well for it. I am looking for another position, but it is hard. I love that I can bring along my own child when she is not in school though. It is really the best of both worlds I think. There are quite a few families that wont interview me because of that though :confused3

Ha!! Been there. I will no longer take a position where the mother or father works from home. I have done it twice now. One family I worked for had the dad at home. His office was in the basement but one day I came in to find him clipping his TOENAILS on the living room rug and NOT picking up the pieces. GAG!!! He was sarcastic like me so I called him out on it but he just laughed. Nasty!!! I quit a job with a family a year ago b/c they were so rich they thought they were priviledged. She would be home 1-2 days a week and "nap" while I was there. I also had loads of laundry to do and it had to be folded a very specific and anal way. Also coats had to be hung up in the closet in order of kids with zippers zipped. One day she accused me of not doing this but it was actually the dad not doing it. Of course she didn't believe me. I had also asked the spoiled rotten 8 yo to start putting her laundry away and cleaning up dirty clothes that she left lay everywhere. The mom told me that Mia didn't have to do chores. I got out of there after 6 months. The family I am with now have never had a nanny before. When I offered to do the kids clothes she was so excited. I do them whenever I can..1-2 times a week. Last week I forgot to put them away on a Friday and told her I was sorry..they were still in the basket on the dryer. She laughed and said it was her job and I never have to be expected to do it. Wow!! That had never happened before. She could care less how I fold them too! :rotfl: The kids in this family are normal too..not spoiled and undisciplined like most I have taken care of. Hope I don't sound too bitter!! ;) I just don't think people know what we go through!!
I think the only reason I could bring a future baby to work is b/c the 6yo will be in school all day starting this fall. Then I will only have two toddlers plus mine! (Knock on wood...don't want to jinx having a baby before I am pregnant!! lol)

My mom has been gone 3 years and I am a little sick of people asking if I am going to cry about it at the wedding. The people that ask are people that haven't lost a parent so I don't expect them to understand. I am putting up an 8x10 black & white photo of us when I was about 2 years old. We are standing on a bridge in the Adirondack Mts. looking at the water. My dad took it from behind. I also had a memorial candle made that I'll put next to it. Christmas is the toughest for me...DF had said we could go to WDW this Xmas b/c it seems to get harder every year. But we just can't afford it. We plan to go in 2008. How long has your dad been gone?? :sad1:

:grouphug: My mom passed away when I was a little over a year old. So while I have no memories of her, I still miss her. I cried because she wasn't at my wedding, the birth of my children, my sister's wedding, her children's birth, and many other times. It's natural to miss your mom and wish she could be there with you.

Have you tried ProActive? (you can get a facsimilie at WalMart) IT REALLY WORKS!! DS had horrible acne - we tried Proactive and viola! Also, I swear by Bare Minerals, it covers up my age spot under my eye (I was accused by kids and scouts of having dirt there! so sad!) and I tried the scar cover up make up - plaster - not nearly as effective as Bare Minerals (You can get it at Ulta stores) However, do test your makeup - and get pictures of you in your Wedding Makeup - I think BE tends to be more shiney in pictures (as the main ingredient is mica, which is shiney!) :grouphug: :grouphug: How exciting - your wedding is almost here!!

I use proactive! I agree that it is definitely my all time favorite face stuff. I still get blemishes though, like when I'm stressed, if I don't wash my face before bed, that time of the month, or if I keep touching my face too much. So still very sensitive to breaking out. But, it makes them go away much faster than any other soap I've had, makes my face less red, and takes the pain out of the painful ones.

I like the Bare Minerals too! I used to use it as a foundation, but I did find it to be too shiny for my liking, especially when you already have spots of oily skin. But I love it for a concealer. On a blemish or under the eyes, then a little bit of loose powder and my face looks perfect!

Hear Ye Hear YE Please post in bold your Peep Meet dates!

There was a group that wanted to make a goal of a 5K - many of us jumped on board.... many meaning enough to consider doing a GRAND GATHERING!! (note my siggy!!)

I am now under the impression dates have changed to take advantage of FREE DINING.... (not that that is ironic or anything!!)

1. Are you going to WDW Jan 12 -14 for 5K/Marathon Weekend?

2. Have you made ressies for end of Sept?

3. Have you changed your mind - or have circumstances changed?

4. OR would you consider making Sept ressies - or Jan ressies???

inquiring minds and all that... I seriously would love to sit around with the peeps and laugh and talk, etc...

Well, I wasn't planning on doing a 5k or use free dining. But I do want to come up for a Peep meet, probably just for the weekend because of school. So I'm open to either dates since I'm just a couple hours away. I just won't know until it gets closer how long I'll be able to go for.

Haven't been able to post in a few days. Crazy busy. This new class is killing me!! Can't remember if I told you about Jackson being sick.

As of right now Jackson is DF and I's first choice for a boy's name. Jackson Cody or Jackson Tucker. :goodvibes

I may or may not be able to swing a Sept. trip but I would be on my own and that's a little intimidating. DF starts a new job in July. Unless we went for a long weekend. I work for a teacher and only get school holidays off but might be able to take a Friday or Monday with no pay. I have been curious as well to see if anyone else is going?? Jan might work better for DF but of course Sept. would be cheaper. :confused3

Peep of the Week Q and A

Don't forget to fill out the Q and A I posted. Duh, I don't remember what page it is on. I will try and find out. Anyway, go find it and send it back to me in a PM! By Thursday!

Just checked - it is on page 728, post 10914

Thanks!

Thanks. I expect it to be hard when I have kids but that's where I think my years of nannying will come in handy..I won't be as scared as my sister who had never babysat a day in her life and really needed a mom!

Sounds like me....a long weekend would be great. You're lucky you are only a few hours away. I have to fly so last minute isn't all that great for me.

Peep of the Week
Q and A

As promised, I have made a small Q and A for you all to complete to help us get to know each other better. Please Please complete the Q and A and send back to me in a PM! Keep in mind when answering that I will be putting selected answers on the Peep thread when you are peep of the week. So if you don't want everyone to know, don't write it down

Here we go...just copy and paste it into a PM and send it my way please!

1. What motivates you on your journey to lose weight / get healthy / maintain, etc? What "diet" program are/were you following?

2. What would be your tip to the rest of the Peeps to help them on their journey? (i.e. not eating after 7 or writing things down, etc.)

3. When did you join the DIS? Do you remember your first post?

4. When did you join the Peeps? Why did you seek Peep support?

5. Tell us about your family. Any kids, spouses, pets?

6. What do you do as a career? (yes, stay at home mom is a career)

7. Has joining the Peeps changed you? How so?

8. Name 3 things you like about yourself. (any 3 things – must be positive)

9. What makes you laugh? Cry?

10. What are some of your favorite Disney things? (rides, resorts, movies, characters, etc.)

So go ahead, take your time and answer them. Try to get them back to me in a PM by next Thursday! That's one week. I will post reminders throughout the week as well.

Also, I'm hoping to announce Peep of the Week on Thursday as well. So if you have a nominee, just let me know. I've already received one nomination from a Peep. Send that in a PM too!

Thanks everyone!

couldn resist bumping it up!

Hello PEEPS!

I would like more information on the peep meet. We are going to Disney in July- So I'm not sure when I could go - Sept or Jan - Could I just get some general information from someone so I could decide and let you know.

Hope everyone had a nice Easter.

I got my feelings hurt at work night before last.

A lot of the girls there have been doing weight watchers and doing quite well. I did WW a few years back with the flex points and lost about 15# but I got tired of counting points and trying to figure out what I was going to eat and my variety of food was the pits so I gave up and the weight came back plus another 15 or 20- I guess I didnt give up- I just quit all together. Then I joined the PEEPS.:goodvibes

So anyway- One of the girls that had lost 40 on WW said she had gained about 10 back so she switched to the CORE plan and lost 4# - I made a comment that maybe I would try WW Core plan again - and then I saw it- others in the room- eyes rolled which said to me- here she goes again- she cant do it. Maybe I read more into it than there was but it hurt my feelings-
:sad1:
But if anything- I'm not crying- I'm more motivated- I can do this- its not a diet its a lifestyle change- I just havent found the change I can live with yet- but I will- I guess thats why I try different things- I have an on the go lifestyle and alot of programs involve planning and meal prep at home and that doesnt work for me- I rarely eat at home during the week- Then add in the night shift work schedule with 3am meals - so I just havent found the right mix yet- but I WILL- And then we will see who is rolling their eyes.

You guys are my support- you dont judge, you listen when I am down, you pick me up when I fall, you teach me, and you encourage me to keep trying- you are my PEEPS and you are my FIRENDS- and I thank you for being there.

:flower3:

Ok..I'm sure you all know by now but FD is 8/26-9/22. It would be easy for me to go at the end of Aug. for a long weekend b/c I don't go back to work until the day of Labor Day.

I'm looking for more info too!!

I'm sorry about what happened to you. It's easy for me to take things pesonally and not read into people being out to get me. For that reason I am always on guard with certain people. As long as you know you are doing your best then that's all that matters!!! :goodvibes

It's "snot" written in stone yet, so I wont bold...

Sept. 22nd-??? We're booking for free dining! 2 rooms at POP, probably

No can do in January.

It's the BEST diet incentive...I want to lose weight before then!

Haven't been able to post in a few days. Crazy busy. This new class is killing me!! Can't remember if I told you about Jackson being sick. I think it may be Roto Virus. Started throwing up early Sat. morning. He was in my bed. Let me just say that Red Icee + soured Chocolate Milkshake = very red, very smelly puke. When I woke up he was leaned over the edge of my bed and I could hear it hitting the walls. Nice. Looked like a crime scene. He is getting better though.

Heather - is Joshua sick too.

Dance - that cake was gorgeous.

Hope everyone had a great Easter. Remember when a Peep not long ago confessed to eating a 6 pack of Resees eggs. Well, yesterday I am pretty sure I ate about 6 miniature Resees eggs and 3 mini Cadbury eggs. We won't even discuss the Easter meal.
Anyway, my DD and I were reading the Bible together last night. The passage was in Romans 7 where Paul is saying that he hates that he does the things he does not want to do and that he does not do the things he knows to do. If Paul struggled with this, I can see how we all struggle with it. Paul talked about his freedom through Jesus. That has been the missing link for me. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I ask God to help me with almost everything in my life. But when it comes to weight loss, I try to do it on my own. Obviously that is not working.

I KNOW!~ I keep forgetting to let Him help me! How I struggle on this!
I know He'd help. The Holy Spirit is the only guy who'd get away with whispering in my ear, "Do you REALLY need that?" :cloud9:

Seriously, I think you've come upon a good answer for most of us!

Ok, so I really have a trip planned for sept, but only in my mind at this point. Our dates are flexible, and I was thinking of Pop again or any value really. I was thinking of arriving on the 20thish of sept? I am completely open on dates but August is not as good as Sept crowd wise, and I may not be able to convince my H to go regardless. SOOOOOO I may want to share a room with somebody. I am planning to bring DD4, but I dont want a room with just the 2 of us. It would be much more fun to share it with somebody else in the same boat...and cheaper :goodvibes Jan would be a possibility but less likely because of the cost difference mostly. Free dining is a fantastic savings!

So, I am having a dilemma. After the patch test I found out I am allergic to formaldahyde. That in itself isn't too bad. I have to wash new clothes, as it's in them to make them look nice, I have a list of products that don't contain it. OK, I can stay away from it in products. BUT....what I found out last night was, aspertame turns into formaldahyde in your systems when you digest it. Aspertame is in ALL diet drinks, sweetened flavored waters...you name the sweetened diet food and it's in there!!! How much to you eat or drink that contains it?!? I am going to stop drinking diet coke & the sweetened waters that I like & live on for the month of April. If this rash clears up, I'll have solved my problem and will no longer drink diet drinks. I have drank diet soda for almost 30 years!!!! Other than water, what do I drink now????? (vent over)

I'll take all beverage recommendations you have, as long as it doesn't contain aspertame!!!! :rolleyes1

Look for drinks sweetened with Splenda (It's made with sugar.) I believe Sobe LEAN drinks contain no aspartame. (And they are yummy!) Lipton "On the Go" mixes to add to your water are sweetened with Spenda. I think Coke Zero might be. Can't think of any other off the top of my head. Hope that helps! ;)

This reminded me! Have loose translucent powder with you on your wedding day! It will keep the shine off and give you a more polished (not like shiny! ) look in your photos!

Heres my Easter giggles: DS wnated to put sliced cucumbers in the eggs for ME since he told Dad Mom doesn't eat chocolate anymore! How sweet!
DH made Easter dinner and did an excellent job he was trying to show me how I don't have to go crazy making things that what I do is good enough, he haw guess who was ready to make cakes and cook much more than he planned! DH! Sadly he could feel the pressure of preforming for my dear mother, I stopped ihm in his tracks and said wait amintue your supposed to shwo me how not to go crazy????
I noticed my parents watching every fork I raised like the calorie counter was over my head! I had salad for dinner while they were here and after they left I raided the candy they brough my son, and yes I did make a mess of myslef but will do better today.
I am looking at my behavior rather than theirs and my reaction to them. I am well aware of how this eatting unhealthy come aobut now I have to not give up on it or me.
WHy they can't get along with any ohter of their 4 children is just not fair at least then some of the others could have the joy of holidays with them, my eatting would be so helped!

OK so today I am going to back to my plan of livinig not hiding in shame for bad eatting mometns of yesterday!
Heck I am going to DIsney in 4 days HOORAY!
Sadly my ssiter passed on going in September adn DH said maybe we should make it a him and me only trip! EEEK DIsney without the boy?? I don't know!
Leminda let me know when and where you are staying then maybe we can have a peep meet!

Ohhh and Happy Monday all!

Funny that your DH got flustered. Sorry that you were being eyed at dinner!

Oh, do come in September if ya can! Would love to meetcha! :)

Somehow Sandy's post about the meets didn't get quoted here, but I will be at WDW 9/28-10/6, and I plan to attend the meet in January as well. I hope to meet a lot of Peeps! :) And Sandy, looks like you'll be the first Peep I meet! ;) Can't wait to give you your pillow!

Why am I so emotional today?

(stand back, run away... emotional woman entering!)

Here's info on the 5K
http://disneyworldsports.disney.go....thon2008MarathonFamilyFunRun5KEventDetailPage

I figure I can already do a 5K with just walking, and it wouldnt "challenge" me, so I told dh maybe I should gear up for the 1/2 marathon, he said if I did the half, he'd do the half w/ me, and then do a full marathon for him... now, its just not looking plausible... (mainly as others have stated the expense in Jan, and of course it will be crowded with all the marathon runners...)

I'm just trying to think outloud...

I would be looking to split a room too...I could probably swing coming in super early (if I take 2 days off) on the 22nd and leaving late on Tuesday the 25th. Does that sound like something you were thinking?? Without DF it would cost me next to nothing.

This reminded me! Have loose translucent powder with you on your wedding day! It will keep the shine off and give you a more polished (not like shiny! ) look in your photos!

My skin is always so dry I never have a shine problem. If anything I hate powder b/c it shows the dry patches more. My photographer said she can edit on zits or whatnot. She is awesome!! :goodvibes
