That's great news and 3 months will go really quick.

Could I have some prayers sent across the Atlantic please, went to see baby Oliver today who is so cute and seemed well except he won't really feed yet but I just got a call from BIL to say he has an infection not sure what type yet but he will probably have to stay in hospital for 5 days. Hopefully everything will be fine but any prayers would be great Thanks :grouphug:

Sending prayers now. This morning at church we had a baby dedication. THe baby just turned 1 year and here is the miracle--she was born at 24 weeks. She weighed 1 lb 4 oz when she was born and now weighs a whopping 11 lbs. She is hitting all her milestones and doing great.

Wow, it's amazing what medicine can do these days hope she continues to do well!

ADORABLE! What an angel! Very cute picture of the girls looking through the crib. What does the bib say....I (heart) my Auntie Jo!
Of course :rotfl2: no it says I love my Daddy! DSis bought the baby grow for Oliver to come home in but it looks like she'll have to get it washed for a few days time, there again not sure if BIL can work the washing machine :rotfl2:

and prayers mhl

I'm packing the car, going to take the boys back to college in a few hours, and then dd and I are going to the state Capitol, hobnob with President Lincoln!! Thanks to Priceline!! (better bidding .com will help you learn the prospect, I made my first mistake in the rebid.. always go to hotels.com to learn what hotels are in the area, and for me, I HATE Extended Stays - no 2 beds in the rooms!! But for $30 :confused3 we got the President Lincoln hotel for $40 a night!!)

Have a great time!!

I'm sorry they keep disappointing you! They just don't realize how much it mean. It's nice that you're still glad they're moving and will be near you.

Congratulations to the aunties! That's the best job I have!

I'm praying too!

I lost some weight while on my trip - if I keep it off a week I'll report at weigh-in next week.

I was thinking this week that one of the nice things about all of you is that we don't necessarily have to coordinate our schedules to get to "spend time" together. Even if no one is here when I finally check in late at night I get the feeling of having spent time with you because you've told us what's going on with you and what your day was like - good or bad.

Thanks for being here! :goodvibes

You said that perfectly!:goodvibes

When we went to Disney two weeks ago--I was able to wear a pair of shorts that I have not fit in in about since before Joshua was born. Now I am wearing a pair of pants for the last time--I wil lbe 12 weeks soon and I am just now getting a pooch! Hopefully I will not get to big for a while, but since this is number 4 I do not know.

I am going back on May 5th so I am praying that my shorts last me at least until then. I really do not want to buy new stuff this soon.

You are lucky-with my fourth I started showing immediately.

That's great news and 3 months will go really quick.

HI!!!Yes I did have a good day partly due to Harley who kept my girls so that I could go to WalMart BY MYSELF.:woohoo:

Okay, I think my DD3 is the strangest child on earth. She was jump up and down excited this morning when she discovered her Mimi(harley) had bought the Snow White dress for her.She wanted me to take a picture of her in it then precedes to scream her wild hysterical scream until we got it off of her. Then she sobs because she wants to put it on but she "just can't".:scared: :confused3

I am going to give her a bath and take her for a walk.

hmmm what could be causing her to freak out like this?

I have been reading about leukemia tonite...very scared for my boss

Hi all, long day house hunting here. We found a few that made the short list and lots that didn't. We did find a website that has lots of listings that sound promising. There are a couple that have pix of the inside and they are adorable. The price is right too! The only downside is her lease isn't up until the end of May and these houses are available now. Hopefully, either she can work something out with either the apartment or the management company for the houses she's looking at. Prayer is working! We went from nearly no prospects to a short list and an apartment as a poss backup if dhe can't find a house when she needs one.

Congrats to teh new Aunties and prayers being sent to Jo's DNephew.

Absolutely, Jo! You know my DS was put into NICU when he was born as a precaution and I've never been so scared in my life! They do take a lot of precautions with the little ones but I'm sure he'll be fine. What did he weigh?

DD2 spent her first night in the NICU too. My mom and Grandma were in the room when theDr came in to tel us what was going on and my grandma started crying. One of my cousin's died as an infant and she was afraid it was going to happen again.

How wonderful. I have another internet friend who gave birth 3 wks ago to twins at 23wks 3days. Her darling little girl could oly hang on for 30 mins but her little boy is a fighter and the last update I saw said he was impressing the doctors. It's encouraging to know there are more miracle babies that are thriving.

My oldest went through something similar at the same age. She was bothered by 'scratchy' fabric and couldn't eat food that was hot. It had to be room temp or she would howl. She eventually out grew it though, thankfully. I did read about a disorder that makes kids super sensitive to sensations. Touch and food temp or texture were the most common. Hopefully your little one will outgrow this as well.

Eeyore~ Have fun with your DD.

WI~ Great news on the house, hopefully the 3 mos will fly by. There's always romantic rendevous at a nearby hotel to keep you connected.

AnnNan~ Congrats on the weight loss. I too am ready for another trip. I guess I'm homesick; sick of being home that is. I think you summed up the popularity of support threads on message boards quite well. It's a way to make friends and spend time with them on your own schedule annd when it works for you.

Pigget~ 12 wks and still able to wear skinny shorts, you rock!

My sis called while I was typing, she got a call from one of the properties she was looking at online. The lady was really nice and excited to meet her. The owner lives just a few minutes away in the same neighborhood and loves it there. They are meeting in the morning. It sounds promising.

Have a great night Peeps!

alrighty so somewhere down the line I missed that auntie jo's baby was int he NICU

let me tell you a story about a little boy who was born 8 1/2 weeks early (at 311/2 wks gestation) because mommy had a little infection in her body. he was born at 4 lbs 7 oz. and was a strapping little man, but at 3 weeks old he had Group B strep, and necrotizing entercolitis.(bubbles in the wall of his tummy) so sweet baby was sent to nicu and mommy and daddy were prepared that he might not make it thru, "condition is very grave" several days later he was healing and on the road to recovery. Now at 9 yrs old he plays baseball, riding bikes, dirtbikes, loves to hunt and fish...mommy said many prayers that night tho. and do you know that she started a crossstitch EMT prayer for her firefighter/EMT hubby that night and finished most of it...but to this day has never completed the project, because the prayers were answered......and pulling out taht cross stitch makes me remember the night I spent wondering if my little man was going to live. But its buried somewhere in the recesses of my treasures, as a reminder of that time in my life.

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!! :sunny:

It's a new week.....start over with the me on the healthy eating!! :yay:

let me tell you a story about a little boy who was born 8 1/2 weeks early (at 311/2 wks gestation) because mommy had a little infection in her body.
Sweet story, harley. I prayed a lot too. I was 37 when he was born and had been constantly on edge that something might be wrong. My little guy had a "dusky" spell on his first day so he was hooked up to a breathing monitor in NICU for 2 days. He was a GIANT in the NICU at 8 pounds 11 ounces and never set off the breathing monitor once. I thank God for him every day and he too is a strong healthy boy.

You guys and girls have a great day today!!! :flower3:

Very cute little man!. Hope that he is doing better today.

Han another bad migraine last night--it put me in bed at around 6 and I still feel it lingering this morning. Hope it does not go full blown again today. I hope that everyone has a great day.

MONY---when is yuor ultrasound---it should be soon shouldn't it? Hope all is going well.

Jo:

Prayers sent for your nephew. Why was he sent to the NICU? Just curious- Babies is what I do. I'm a nurse and have worked 20 years in maternal/infant care. I work in wellbaby and NICU at my hospital. Anyway- I'll be thinking of your nephew and hope that he has a short hospital stay and everything goes well.

The big news around here is that we recieved and accepted an offer on our house. That is a huge relief since there is no way I could afford two mortgage payments when we move into our new house in August. The bad news is that my wife and I are probably going to end up living with our parents until then. That'll be a long 3+ months, but I just think of the money we'll save and the stuff we'll be able to buy for the house. And it makes it a little easier to take.

We're off now to see Wild Hogs. Hope it is good. Happy Sunday all!

Congrats on the offer on your house! That is very exciting! Living with the parents won't be that bad. DH & I did it for 3 months before & after our twins were born. In-laws didn't want us moving into our house with almost 2 mo old twins because they thought we weren't ready yet! (We had been home owners right after they were born!) Needless to say, we left!

Did you like Wild Hogs? I thought it was hysterical! :lmao:

Could I have some prayers sent across the Atlantic please...:

Prayers have been sent from Buffalo, NY for little Oliver & his family!

Well, I spent yesterday on the couch sick! I don't know if it was something I ate or a touch of the flu. I had a sharp pain in the middle of my stomach on & off all day and was physically sick twice. I slept alot yesterday and luckily feel better today! However, all I had yesterday was ginger ale. That is what I am drinking this morning instead of my coffee. I don't know what I should eat, if anything. Toast? Crackers? Soup? I think I will go to work today, but I know I'll be in the bathroom alot as it's hitting the other way now. Guess I'll show a loss this week! ;)

Ahhh it just goes to show that babies are tough and can fight back!

Is NICU what we call special care? Oliver hasn't been sent there yet although DSis and him have been moved to a different part of the hospital. We have been told he has an infection and he won't feed as he has no sucking reflex (quite common apparently) so they are keeping a special eye on him and he can't leave hospital for a few more days. The second lot of blood results came through today and they are satisfactory what ever that means! Hopefully know more later. Thanks for all the prayers and pixie dust

Just came back from a 2 hour walk with DH, we went to a local park which surrounds an old stately home where Henry VIII lived it's really beautiful with lots of deer, although this time of year some have big antlers and I'm a scaredy cat when we have to walk past them :rotfl2: We even saw a couple of woodpeckers and the sun was shining too :sunny: what better way to exercise :thumbsup2 I'm also off to do 9 holes of golf with DD when she comes home from school if the weather's still good so tons of exercise!

NICU stands for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. For us it is where prematures and sick full term babies would be admitted. Babies on breathing machines, in incubators, being tube fed, or if they were having any other problems that might indicate infection- respiratory or feeding problems. Usually these infants would have blood tests to check for infection and be started on IV antibiotics just in case.

It sounds like they are getting the best care and its good that they are watching them closer. Glad to hear the lab test came back good- that's encouraging. Most babies dont eat well for the first couple of days and it is normal and expected but I'm glad they are watching them closely.

Shows what I know BIL just phoned and Oliver is in NICU, they took him away for tests for 4 hours last night and is on a drip mainly as he's dehydrated but he has just drunk his first bottle (he will not breast feed yet) so that's all good! Thanks for the info Sparkie.
