DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 3

okay....so i need some good peep vibes for tomorrow! i'm not asking for prayers necessarily because it's nothing dire - just something that's on my mind.

see, for those of you who don't know, i'm a court reporter. back in august there was a shooting at my courthouse in the little town of jefferson, georgia. very scary. i was there that day and it was quite an experience. basically, in a nutshell, a deputy was in the basement with four inmates getting ready to transport them back to the jail after their court appearance. well, one inmate got the deputy's gun and shot him, then hopped in the transport van and tried to escape. two other deputies were waiting outside the sally port (the garage that the van parks in) and they shot the inmate through the front windshield. the inmate died. the deputy was life-flighted to a hospital in atlanta and he's doing fine now.

right now we're having a trial in this case. the three defendants are the three other inmates that were in the basement when it happened and are accused of planning this escape with the inmate who is now dead. the reason i'm asking for your thoughts is because the deputy who was shot, who is a very sweet, nice, great guy, by the way, is the first witness tomorrow. i'm going to have a very hard time sitting through his testimony. i had a hard time today listening to the opening statements about what happened that day. it's just an emotional case because it's a person you work with every day that got hurt. i have no idea if the defendants were involved and i hope they weren't. but that's not my place to decide. it's just going to be a tough morning, i know it. i will have to go into "robot court reporter mode" and just kind of take down the testimony without really listening to it.

anyway, i'm rambling. just send some good vibes my way and keep me in your thoughts. thanks, guys! ;)

by the way, this trial is totally messing up my workout schedule!!!

Punkin I think I remember hearing something about this...we'll think of you tomorrow

you probably did. it happened august 21st of this past year. it was on the news - news helicopters flying all above the courthouse. we got done with court that day around 4:30 and this happened right about the same time and i didn't get to leave until like 6:30 because they wanted to make sure the area was secure before they'd let us leave. not fun!

When my sis was a judge in children's court, she heard some terrible cases. She told me the only way she could hold back the tears until she got back to her chambers was to think of the line from A League of Their Own, "There's no crying in baseball." For some reason, when I have to hold it in in the classroom, I think, "Fat thighs." It helps.:confused3

your job sounds aout as much fun as an investigators...I do not envy you!!! YOu must hear some trash!

I had a really good workout tonight. I have discovered that my shoulders are really weak and I am gonna ry to bef them up a little...have any of you seen a infomercial for a program called P90X?

i think that's why i'm looking forward to disney so much.....you tend to see the best of people when they're surrounded by the "magic" and i always see the worst side of people because of my job! :sad2:

a good exercise to build up your shoulders is to get a couple of very light dumbbells (i use 3 pounds on each side, but honestly you should start with like 1 pound on each side and see how that feels) and sit with your hands straight out (like an airplane). hold it for 30 seconds. then do 10 small circles forward and 10 small circles backwards, then 10 big circles forward and 10 big circles backwards. then pulse (sort of bounce) your arms 10 times. it hurts but it works! and go up on your weight when the light ones get easy!

honestly i might start thinking of "thunder thighs" and "bah-dunk-a-dunk butt" just so i can get my mind off of it. no one can see my smile behind my mask! :rotfl: i've had to go into "court reporter robot mode" a few times before, once during an awful murder plea. the family of the victim spoke and the dad of the girl just broke my heart. i just tried not to listen, but when i got home and was working on the transcript i had tears just streaming because i have no choice but to listen to it then.

It wasn't until this winter at my bridal shower that I finally found the FIRST person ever to also have a crush on D.C!! It was my cousin BTW  All of my friends say he is horrible and give me grief but there is just something about him!! There was one episode a few weeks back where a body fell on an ice sculpture. The coroner said the body was cold and DC says, "Yes..cold as ice." :lmao: You gotta love it!!!

Sending well wishes for you to get through the day tomorrow...are you the person that types on that little typewriter or is that a stenographer?? :confused3

Popping in to say that I always seem to be the girl that crushes on a guy that no one would ever imagine having a crush on. That person for me right now is Duff Goldman - Ace of Cakes? Do not even ask me why. It might be that he is so tough on the exterior while seeming really sweet and funny. Plus he likes to bake! And does it well at that. I keep trying to figure out a way to order a cake and have it delivered here so I could meet him. :rotfl:

Busy Busy week for me. I was back at the elementary school today (and tomorrow too). There was an honor roll assembly today so we got out a little early. Supposedly there is an IEP meeting tomorrow too. I say supposedly because the parents never show up. Since the beginning of my semester I have only sat in on 1 meeting because no other parents bothered to come. Anyway, had a final tonight (did ok I think), another test tomorrow night, and just trying to finish up client paperwork by Friday. Plus plan and pack for my vacation! :cloud9:

Oh and remember the proposal I did a couple weeks ago? Well I had to give my final version to my professor so he could count it as part of my research grade. He said that I did an outstanding job, that he's very proud of me, and that he would be very surprised if I didn't get accepted to present it. :woohoo: I won't hear until late june/early july but send pixie dust that I do get to go. It would be a blast, not to mention a huge resume builder!

Breyer's ice cream 100 cal cups - I have them at my Publix (our main grocery store chain in FL) in cookies and cream. I also saw them at Super-Walmart (which I only will go to early in the a.m. during the week) in vanilla fudge swirl. Both flavors are pretty good and a decent amount of ice cream for 2 pts.

Hope everyone had a great day! :grouphug:

thanks for the tip...

um - just think of doing yoga in a class full of people who have eaten beans and are trying to hold "it" in, and imagine their faces ....maybe that'll help

here's a funny - at my office we are not allowed to listen to music anymore, and it gets SO quiet you can hear everything...so one of my friends has taken to singing the first line of really bad songs as a fun pasttime knowing that it will stick into our heads, driving us crazy til she sings something else.

Does anyone watch Tori and Dean: Inn Love on Oxygen? It is my new guilty pleasure TV show. I mention it because I'm DVRing it right now. Anyway, it's about Tori Spelling and her hubby opening up a B&B and getting ready for baby. Love it! I'm such a sucker for these kind of shows.

:rotfl: my sister did that while she, my brother and i spent a week in indiana in a hospital with my dad last year during his open heart surgery. we were all so exhausted/worried/stressed/cold (it was like 4 - yes 4 - degrees while we were there!) that we were pretty much losing our minds and she kept singing that james blunt song, "you're beautiful" but in a REALLY obnoxious way and i couldn't get it out of my head!!!!!! and now i HATE that song!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Peeps!

Hello all,

I just came across this tread today and would LOVE to join it. Last June my husband told me that if I got to goal weight by the time we went back to Disney (December 07), he would pay for me to got to Discovery cove. (I love dolphins) so I started Weight Watchers and riding my bike. Off came 25 pounds by Thanksgiving, then I kinda got side tracked and have put 5 of those pounds back on. :sad1: Now last week I just recommited myself again with the meetings and I joined curves (in October) and have been going 5 times a week.
I would love some support from people that are in the same boat as myself. Thanks
Misty

20 down, 30 left to swim with dolphins, 30 more after that to be at a goal size:)
Welcome! Sounds like you're on the right track!
m11dolphin: What motivation to loose weight! You can do it.

My husband sent me this link to an article that I thought was interesting about loosing weight. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17401064/from/ET/ Thought I would share.
Have a good night.
Really interesting article - thanks!

prayers offered.
i do voice writing. what you're talking about is machine writing. we are all court reporters - we just have different methods of taking things down. machine writers use a keyboard that's basically shorthand. i have a mask that has a microphone inside of it. i repeat everything that's said in the courtroom while making notes on my laptop and it's all recorded to a track on my hard drive. voice writing is becoming more popular because it's easier to learn. we have 5 court reporters with our firm and 4 of us are voice writers. but both methods are VERY hard to learn and i respect any court reporter, no matter what their method is! it's really confusing to everybody but us....basically, i mock people for a living.
cool - learn somethin' new every day!

Woooo Hooo for you. And I'm still enjoying the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches. The choc/PB is the best. 150 calories, but tastes like 300 to me. I peeked at a Haagen-Daz bar at the store today-360 calories. More than the lasagna I ate for dinner tonight. I dropped that bar like it was a snake.

IF its a reality show, I'm watchin and luvin it - another message board has figured out the bachelor - the Final 3 girls, and probably the F2 due to screen caps - totally amazing!! (hint - last night Andy gave roses to 12 girls, in order of his rose ceremonies!! the last rose he gave out, will be the first to go next week!! and so on!!)

oh... big news here...

I look like Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. and I sound awful!!

I taught 5th grade today... sneezed 62 times (yep they counted... the boys thought it wasnt fair that I could hold back sneezes - my eyes watered like I was crying, and it was because I was holding back the sneezes... ) I called it allergies.. but it was a code...

Dd made me tomato soup, and gave me a dr pepper with a straw... and tucked a blankie around me!!

Right now dh doesnt think we should go to WDW in Sept, and I know he's right... but you never know! (dagnabit if hed do the blasted taxes!)

Sandy!

I wish you can come in September!

Heck, WE're not booked till Thursday. I wont be jumping for joy till we're booked.

I'm dying to meet ya'all!!!

I'm hoping to do 9/22- ?? POP..we'll see!

There is a Super Walmart by me but I hate Walmart..I won't go. Sorry Peeps that love it!! There are like 5 of them in a ten mile radius of me and it makes me sick. I will step off the soapbox now......:rotfl:

I HATE WalMart, too!!!!!!!!!!! Only go when I have to... tonight I had to... ug. :sad2:

DDDEEEENNNNEEEEEE - ohh girlfriend I am all smiles for you here !!!! I am so excited!!! you know if you keep this up you might find an alternative career for yourself there missy!! Hunky trainer dude IRL - OMG I dunno if my heart can stand it

I am so proud of you for putting on your cajones and stepping up to the challenge! Way to step out of your comfort zone !! YOU ROCK:banana:

I honestly don't think I ever would have done it if it weren't for my Peeps.. you guys give me courage.

Gotta text this morning (didn't see it 'til lunch... shouldn't get the cell out during class)... it said "Im sore from stretchn woman!!"... too bad there's not a better story behind that comment :rolleyes1

Speaking of sore... I am sore from racquetball tonight. About 8:15 pm I got pegged hard in the :eeyore: by an 18 yo guy... at 11:37 pm, there's still a racquetball sized pink circle. At least it was high and not right in the muscle where I've done a bazillion lunges and squats the last two days. After he left, I ran for a ball... got it, but overextended and went down in a blaze of glory. Glad nobody was in the lobby looking through the big glass wall :dance3: . I have "road rash" on my right knee the size of a silver dollar... and now my back, left hip, and left shoulder are aching. I'm such a dork.. :upsidedow At least I didn't rip the knee of my pants... don't have any to spare... at least not those that fit! :yay:

okay....so i need some good peep vibes for tomorrow!

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes and pixiedust: for good measure!

i repeat everything that's said in the courtroom while making notes on my laptop and it's all recorded to a track on my hard drive.

Ummmmm... stoopid question (and anybody who's spent time with teenagers knows there ARE stupid questions). Why don't they just record trials? I figure its 'cuz people sometimes need to READ what was said so they don't get the wrong idea (like when you've sang the wrong lyrics to a song for years). Nevermind... answered my own question. Seeeee? I told you there were stupid questions! :upsidedow

so one of my friends has taken to singing the first line of really bad songs as a fun pasttime knowing that it will stick into our heads, driving us crazy til she sings something else.

Oh, that is just EVIL... evil, I tell you, bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha

she kept singing that james blunt song, "you're beautiful" but in a REALLY obnoxious way and i couldn't get it out of my head!!!!!! and now i HATE that song!!!!!!!!!

:scared: I hated that song the first time I ever heard it!

I am glad you are in for the Peep Meet but sad to hear bout your grandma. Mine has been in a nursing home for almost 4 years (she's 94) and has severe dimentia. My dad will get a call that she isn't doing well..we think it's the end but then she hangs in there. It's tough. I don't go as much as I should b/c I want to remember her the way she was. Not a nice thing to go through. :sad1:
Thanks a bunch, Peeps, for the hugs and kind thoughts. Fortunately, we have not had to deal with dementia, just a bit of forgetfulness. My Grandma was moved back to her medical care facility this afternoon for hospice/comfort care. Tonight she seemed somewhat improved over last night and in less pain. I'm sure she was glad to be back in familiar surroundings. The staff and ladies at her facility were happy to have her back, too, and we know that she will receive loving care there. It helps significantly that my cousin's cousin works there and is very fond of Grandma.

I have had to skim again but am sending out good vibrations :goodvibes and prayers to those who need them. My exercising is falling by the wayside this week, but I did manage to have a good WW weigh-in today (had to add my new WISH bling early and changed my September ticker to a happier looking one to help keep myself perked up)!!!

Snack Idea

Last night I had a really great snack. Breyer's 100 Cal. Cookies and Cream ice cream cup. It wasn't a big portion but it was enough to satisfy me. When I have a container of ice cream it is hard for me to portion control  and this was perfect. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Sounds yummy!! Will have to look into the next time I go to the store.

DUFF is awesome---we watch him all the time and also any challenge he is doing as well. I could see where you have a crush on him.

I am up early this morning because I have 2 IEP's that I need to do the first page for--I always put that one off for last. TO me it is the hardest to write.

DH and I leave like in 24 days for our first ever solo trip to the WORLD!!! I am soooo excited. I thought we were going to have to cancel when we found out we had to owe big time on taxes---but DH said NOPE--basically everything is paid for already--only have to pay for the plan and the sitter while we are gone. THis will be our lat trip until May of '08 at the earliest. IF we do not go then we will probably go NOvember of of '08 like we did this year. Also, we are going to try and stay at Animal Kingdom Villas through DVC since we can fit more in aroom there.

I hope that everyone has a blessed day. Good luck with everyon getting the Free DIning Plan. With DH work schedule from August to March--Thanksgiving is the only time we can go. I have some friends who already have a trip booked at the Poly. her entire family is going---daddy is paying for everyone's rooms and they were hoping that free dining would be there---hopefully it will all work out for everyone.

Gotta go and work.
