punkin - Does he work for the one on west end? If so, he might have delivered to me!
did he get robbed? I read back to get the doggie scoop, but didn't see your post.

i think he works at the one on west end but i'm not sure. he's VERY tall (6'5") and very hippyish looking. here's a pic.......

Picture009-1.jpg

yes, he got robbed at knifepoint. he was going down 4th avenue and made a wrong turn and ended up in a very bad part of town.

peeps - i know i mentioned this to some of you. i posted the installment of my september TR where chip bites the dust during beauty and the beast. the link is in my siggie!

 Hi, Peeps!
Do y'all have room for one more here? I've read great things about you and would love to join in!
Just a little about me...I'm 28, been married going on six years to a wonderful, supportive husband, and I'm a SAHM to two beautiful daughters (a three-year-old and an almost 9 week-old). The 9 week-old is the reason I'm here! I was doing WW before I (suprisingly, but happily) found out I was pg. I had lost a little over 20 lbs. and was feeling great! Then, of course, while I was pg I indulged in every craving! So, needless to say, I need to get rid of the baby weight...and then some!
So, how does this work? I would start reading from the beginning, but I'm afraid I'd still be reading five years from now...quite a long thread you've got here! :)

:welcome: There is ALWAYS room for one more!!!!

just posting a fly bye post .
i am back from disneyland and have officially been disney pimped, now i can understand the love and obsession that you all have for the house of mouse. we had a blast and a ton of pixie dust thrown our way and let's just say on a numerous amount of times my kids were the stars of the shows.. while there my clothes were a lil baggy so i am hoping that is a good sign :rotfl: i am done unpacking and now just have to re-straighten my house back up:goodvibes a very dear friend was watching my kitty and decided to Pixie Dust my house so i came home with a list of to-do's and they were to- done;) :rotfl: :rotfl: well i am off to bed nighty night all .

Sounds like you had a great trip!!! Glad you got back safely! Can't wait to read your TR! (There WILL be a TR...Right?!?) :woohoo:

Working today, but will be updating my TR from here. I uploaded pics to photobucket this morning, so I'll be able to put them in the TR. 12 DAYS!!! :dance3:

punkin - Glad he's ok! I'll look for him next time I order.
I love jimmy john's - they deliver and the sandwhiches are REALLY good.
plus they have an "unwich" which is wrapped in lettuce instead of bread, so I can actually eat it.
there's one in cool springs near where I live, but I haven't called to see if they'll deliver to my house or not. I've just used the one near where I work.

Hey everyone..
so i am having an issue here at my workplace...a lethal one i think.
there is a horrible odor of trichloroethylene , a known carcinigen. people are getting head aches, feeling dizzy..and are the bosses doing anything? NO. Just a little background..this is a machine shop.i am the office manager upstairs but the smell is still wafting up here and the vapors themselves can make you really sick, if not fatally sick. I think its within my rights to go home and not subject myself to this. They obviously don't care about it because they arent' sending anyone home, part of me even wants to get blood drawn to see if i have it in my system. I am so disgusted right now i am going to call the board of health i think. OH also this is the same place that has dead mice in all the walls, and hardly ever gets cleaned. nice huh.
SOrry i just had to vent ..i am so thoroughly all set with this place. ( i actually have a job offer to begin work at a mortgage place, but that isnt' till December! ugh..i wish i could just walk now!)

Sounds to me like you have every right to go home if it is making you sick! I think I would leave.

*UPDATE ALERT* Just updated my Pre-TR if anyone is interested. Now I know why people are so hooked on these...they are fun to write!!!! :hippie:

Not only would I call health dept, I'd call OSHA and then I'd file a work comp claim. Maybe that would get their attention and they'd do something there. I'm in upper management in a food manufacturing company and we take this stuff very seriously. You could eat off the floors in our manufacturing areas and our employee's safety and health is very important here. That's probably why we have employees that have been here 30+ years; it's a great place to work. I could not work for a company that had no regard for the people responsible for generating the income. I'm glad to hear you are leaving.

I'm still not feeling well today, dang it, but I am at work. The worst part is that I don't feel good enough to do my exercising so my weight loss will be minimal this week. I did do some crunches on my exercise ball last night--much harder than doing them on the floor. But no cardio for 3 days now.

I'm reading everyone's pre-trip reports, I'm living through you guys because I can't WAIT to go in January. Have a happy Tuesday.

i've never eaten there, believe it or not. he just started working there about a month ago and we don't have them here. he was at pf chang's, but got fired because he wouldn't shave. :confused3

that's horrible! i'd definitely do something about it. i can't believe the management/owner isn't doing something. nice way to get sued! BIG TIME!!!

All right, here's a question for y'all. How would you have responded to this? A small group of us were walking to a meeting in a conference room on the other end of our office building (probably a 2 minute walk), and there was a box of cookies on the counter in the mail room. My boss' boss was behind me, and he saw that I didn't take a cookie, even though everyone else in front of me did. He asked "aren't you going to take a cookie?" I said "nope." He asked "are you on some sort of health kick?" (He obviously hasn't noticed the ~60 pound weight loss the past two and a half years.) He then proceeded to make comments about how good the cookies were, and how I'll be the only one in the meeting not eating one. It wasn't mean spirited at all, and I know he didn't mean any harm by it, so I didn't care that he was making those comments.

But here's the question - how would you have responded to his initial "health kick" question? Would you have told him "I'm on a diet" (keeping in mind that I'm a guy, and men don't discuss diets or anything like that, especially with the VP of their department). Would you have just said "no, I'm just not hungry". Or some other response?

My response was "it's called willpower. And besides, I've got a big bowl of Halloween candy waiting for me at home" (even though I have no intention at all of eating any of the candy).

(Small Tangent Alert!) It's tough when you have this reputation of liking sweets (and I suppose just food in general), and people just expect you to eat what ever they put in front of you. And when you don't, they almost mockingly make a crack about you being on a "health kick", like they can't believe that this big fatso would ever try to better himself by eating right and exercising. But I suppose I don't really share much about my personal life, so I brought this sort of thing upon myself since none of my co-workers know about my attempt to lose weight. I just wish they wouldn't give me a hard time about not giving in to the junk food temptations that everyone else here seems to.

I would definitely not have told them I was on a diet, trying to lose weight or anything similar. I know it's sort of hypocritical, but I really really hate it when people are always talking about losing weight, eating/not eating something, that they need to work out. Here it's different because I feel like we are all in the same boat and want to better ourselves. Not the same as your boss who is a size 4 whining about eating a cookie after her lunch. Or one coworker asking another coworker how much weight they lost that week. Anyway, I don't tell anyone I'm trying to lose weight, watching what I eat because then they become experts in weight loss or develop hawk eyes and watch every morsel you put in your mouth...and feel entitled to comment on it. At least that is my experience. The only person that always knows for me is my mom...and mostly it is because I live at home and we go grocery shopping together. If I could manage not telling her, I probably wouldn't.

So my response would have been something along the lines of "I don't want one"...and "that not taking a cookie doesn't mean I'm on a health kick"

Peeps, I'm taking a CPR class tonight! Hope it's not too terribly boring and/or hard. Figures the one night this week I got out a little early from work and I have to go back out to class for 2+ hours.

I can't believe how inconsiderate people are. What business is it of his if you don't want a freakin cookie??

Most everyone here knows that I am dieting and exercising, mostly because I had to arrange with my boss and my team to take a longer lunch for my workout. Also, in order to stay on track, I have to skip some regular office activities (team lunch, etc) and I don't want it to seem like I am being rude or anti-social. They are pretty good natured about it, and definitely noticed the 40 lb loss.

I do work with mostly men... the only other female on my team is a diabetic who really has to watch, so I think that helps. Men as a whole don't really seem to do the watch like a hawk thing. I actually think that my progress won me points with my boss, the whole stick-to-it attitude (yes, the one I am struggling with at the moment!!).

All that being said, in your situation, I think I would have lied and said I didn't like that kind of cookie, or joked that sweets before a meeting made me sleepy, or something, but that I hoped that they all enjoyed it.

Edited to add:
punkin, just read back, and sorry to hear about your brother, but glad he is okay!

Melinda, so sad about the doggie. My cat is a member of our family and I can't imagine what a difficult decision this is.

Ma, sorry your job is making you sick. I agree with the others, call OSHA.

I just wish they wouldn't give me a hard time about not giving in to the junk food temptations that everyone else here seems to.

Most people at my job know I'm dieting. I've had a few almost try to force sweets on me. I don't understand it. I almost feel like they want me to be weak so that they feel better about themselves. I don't care if they eat a dozen donuts each; I'm just not interested in it. And everyone here knows I've been battling cancer and that a diet change is not just about weight loss but hopefully to give me a better chance of it not coming back. So why do people do this to us? Why do we have to defend our decision to skip an unhealthy snack.

I think you handled the situation with grace and dignity--something I probably wouldn't have done. And I don't believe for a second that your 60 lb weight loss hasn't been noticed, whether you talk about your diet or not. Perhaps it bothers them that you've had the internal strength to do something so courageous as to change your lifestyle in order to lose 60 lbs. Most of them probably couldn't do it.

All right, here's a question for y'all. How would you have responded to this?

honestly i probably would've said, "no, i'm not on a health kick. i'm just changing the way i eat. actually, i changed this a long time ago....so nice of you to notice!" okay...maybe i wouldn't have said that last part. ;) the point is that i hate it when people use words like "diet" or "health kick" because that implies that it's not a permanent thing but just a phase or something that's very temporary and meaningless. i think you've made a change in your lifestyle and that's why you're seeing the results you are!

I think you responded fine. It is always weird when people pull that " health kick" stuff..especially when the great choices for yourself are so personal and often difficult to stick with. Also you have to realize half the time people say something like that its in hopes the other person will give in and join in the "naughty food fix" so they feel better about their choice. Mindgames really...we humans are complicated! :sad2:

Thanks again everyone that gave me words of wisdom about my DIRTY job situation. I actually did call the board of health and i will not be returning to that job anymore. Part of me does feel a bit bad if this turns out to be the end of the company, but my " Erin Brockovich" side is quite pleased with myself for having the gutts to do something about a very hazardous situation..i will be sure to keep you posted if something comes of it...sigh..never a dull moment!!!

Good for you. :cheer2: It sometimes takes a lot of courage to do the right thing. If it's the end of the company, you didn't cause it--they did. I hope your new job is everything that this one was not.

We just had an earthquake about 2 hours ago, but everyone in our family is fine. My niece's front window blew out and her cat ran away. Pixie dust, please, that Roxie :cat: returns.
GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Everybody ready for Halloween???

Danielle.....Did your sister get the pathology report yet? Glad you had a great time at the retreat!
Now word yet from my sister on the biopsy. We talked after the quake tonight, but we didn't talk about that.

Guess what we kinder teachers are going to be for Halloween? My nemesis-M & Ms!

I agree with the others who mentioned saying yes to the healthy but no to the kick. It's good to tell people you are trying to eat a more balanced diet. You might inspire them to do the same.

You go girl! In the big picture you may have saved someone's health and/or life. MY bil complains about OSHA sometimes and all of their requirements, but I told him if bosses didn't take advantage of their employees and endanger them, we wouldn't need OSHA.

Have a happy Halloween all! :hippie: :wizard: :bride: pirate: :cheer2: princess: :joker: :clown: :firefight ::cop: :charac4: :chewy: :darth: :yoda: :tinker:

Glad that you guys are safe. Hopefully when all settles down the little kitty will come back home.

You did the right thing by calling them. I would not have been able to work there because of my migraines are induced by smells. so what are you going to do between now and December about a job?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

It's supposed to be :sunny: and 68 here today....perfect for trick or treat. Hope your weather is the same!

Gina...So glad to hear you're not going back to your job. How scarey! I was worried about you yesterday!

Danielle....Earthquake? :scared1: I'm glad you guys are Ok. Kitty will come back when she gets hungry I hope.

Aaron
....Good for you! I'm not sure I'd feel the need to explain myself. People are so rude!

Dawn....I've seen that picture before but I just wanted to say again how adorable he is.

EVERYBODY HAVE A GREAT DAY! :flower3:

by the way, have you ever had to drag one of those moonwalk jumpy things? they're really HEAVY and now my traps are killing me!

then last night as i was settling down my dad calls me and tells me that my little brother was robbed at knifepoint while delivering food for his job. scary stuff! i'm just so glad and thankful that he's okay.

now i'm trying to crank out some work before end of the month (wednesday) while doing laundry and finalizing my ADRs for our april trip - i can make them tomorrow! :yay: i'll try to catch up later tonight!

My sister rents moonwalks out and yes indeed they are heavy!

Congratulations on the baby. A few of us, me included had a baby and some are about to. I think after I lost 40 pounds was the reason I got pregnant:rotfl: . My daughter is now 11 weeks.

just posting a fly bye post .

I was thinking about you and your trip and I figured you were back. I can't wait to read all about your trip!

Ok, back to catching up!

We are looking at going right after Memorial Day and staying for the rest of the week. It will be the 6 of us. I know we will do Dollywood and the Water Park. Will go to Ober (DD wants to ice skate) and also the aquarium. DH wants with a great view of the mountains. We will do both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg--so it does not matter which location we stay at. We would prefer a cabin. Would love the websites and any and all recommedation. Thanks.

Sorry so late. We have rented cabins from the following:

www.firesidechalet.com We rented a 4 bedroom with them in December 2005. It was really nice with a hot tub, pool table. This company rents cabins all over Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg. We were more toward the city of Pigeon Forge. We had a beautiful view of the mountains. This company is really friendly and their prices are reasonable. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

www.countrypines.com We rented a 4 bedroom cabin with this company in August. Their log homes are all in one community but the homes are absolutely gorgeous. They are located on Dollywood Lane (Middle Creek Rd.), approx. 5-6 miles. Prices were a little higher but reasonable considering it was such a large home. Staff was really great. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

www.mountaintopresorts.com We rented from this company in Oct. of 2005. They have several areas to choose from, including the Douglas Lake area where we stayed. The lake is drained every Sept. but it full by Memorial Day. We rented a 3 bedroom cabin. It was very nice but a little expensive. Additionaly, the Douglas Lake area is some distance from Pigeon Forge, going back toward Sevierville. I give it only one :thumbsup2 .

Ober mountain is really great. We went there in December 05. The kids really loved the tram ride up the mountain. My oldest son & I went ice skating (1st time for both of us) while we were there. We also done the Alpine Slide. Pretty cool. :thumbsup2 The aquarium was nice but crowded during the July 4th holiday. :scared1: It was rainy outside & everyone was doing indoor activities. I was sooooooo happy to make it to the exit. Your children will love it but if you go try doing so when it is bright, sunny and altogether beautiful outside. :rotfl2:

In July of this year, we took the kids to the Comedy Barn, the Magic Show, and the Dixie Stampede. They had such a great time. They got to be part of the act at the Comedy Barn. My youngest son didn't get much from the Magic Show but he watched and was really good the whole time. I definelty recommend the Magic Show. It's great and so unbelievable. I would like to watch it again and try to fiqure some of it out. ;) Both of my boys loved the Dixie Stampede. They could hardly sit in their seats and eat because they were so excited. I recommend but it is extremely expensive. $225 for the 4 of us. $160 for the show itself. $50 for Build-a-critters. and $15 for popcorn & soda during the carriage room act. We will do again in the future. We also went to the NASCAR Speed Park and had a great time.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, just ask.

P.S. Are you planning time in the mountains for sight seeing. If so, then I would recommend packing a picnic & driving out to Cades Cove. There is so much to see and explore. There are lots of trails to hike, old churches and log homes to see, and in the 4 times that we've ventured out to the Cove, we've seen a bear 3 out of the 4 times. One evening as we were making a second drive around the loop we counted over 70 deer before it got so dark that we couldn't see anymore. Talk to you later.
