DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 2

Good Morning :)

Wow, I had a bad dieting weekend. I didn't exercise at all and although I followed my diet for my meals I snuck in waaaay too much of my kids Halloween candy. I decided to face the scale this morning just to see how bad the damage is and to my surprise I was down 1 lb.! I'm not complaining, but how in the world does that happen?!?!

Melinda - I'm so sorry that your dog isn't doing well. I agree with the others though, there comes a time when you need to decide wether they are "living" or just "existing". It's heartbreaking though, I'll say a prayer for your family. We have a young labrador that has hip problems and it just breaks my heart to see her in pain. I cannot even imagine how your family must feel. :sad1:

I hope everyone has another great weight loss week!

Well, finally caught up! We had a fun and sort of busy weekend. I wasn't on DIS at all, I don't think! We went out to dinner Friday night and watched Meet the Robinsons. On Saturday, I had a friend over, and we listened to music all day from her itunes, so I could pick out some stuff to borrow. Then DH and I went to meet up with Sandy, her DS, DS's roommate, and FDIL. It was the first time I've met Sandy's FDIL, and she was just great! :) We had fun Sandy! Then on Sunday, I updated DH's and my ipods, we ran a couple of errands, and we watched Transformers. I am now wishing it was still the weekend because it was such a nice one.

Hey, y'all should see DS #2 ipod list!! :rotfl: I'm telling you, ok... here are some of the artist.. ac/dc, adam sandler, afro man, all american rejects (some of the a's.. roflol), Barenaked ladies, belinda carlisle, Beetles, (Bethoven, Mozart, lots of piano concertos... tons!) Beachboys..Blind Melon, Blink, Bob Dylan, Coldplay, Coolio, Counting Crows, Dashboard confessions... etc.. but really - he has DISNEY!!! :rotfl: and some Showtunes (Mulan Rouge, Joseph, ) I just grinned - wonder if I can snag some into my list??

Hey! Which DS's ipod list is that? I can't believe I forgot to list Barenaked Ladies when I listed mine because I LOVE them! And I have several of their CD's. Besides that, we have a few others in common. And he has Dashboard Confessional? That is one I am getting from my friend to listen to. He and I should compare ipods sometime! :)

Can I post my music even though I am a day or two late? I don't own an ipod, or any cd's really, lame I know. My daughter is 15 and got me into things like Green Day and The Fray, (How To Save a Life by The Fray is the best, imho) I also like some Fergie. That is, when she (my daughter) listened to that type of music. Now, for the past 6 months or so, she has given up all music, except gospel. She goes to a different church than I do (she got into this church when she went to the private school there, last year for about 9 weeks, which is a whole other story, and part of my very bad year last year, BUT anyway, that was waaaaay off topic) and the only music they promote is gospel. Which is good for her because I was beginning to think that her mp3 player would have to be surgically removed, because for a time she would eat, sleep, and breathe "emo" type music. She actually took all of her old cd's to the church and "got rid" of them. Any other moms of teens know what I'm talking about here with "emo" music? So now I listen to the radio, or I'll "you tube" something if I feel like listening to it. Maybe I will get my own ipod, I, to, am a little old fashioned in regards to technology. Well, I'm glad I got to check in YAY for the new modem!

Yeah, I know the term "emo". Fall Out Boy has been labeled as "emo", but I'm not sure they even know what that is supposed to mean. :rotfl: I think I know the genre you speak of though. :)

Peeps, today was an icky day.

Sometimes family members just say totally inappropriate things. I have a couple like that myself. They know how to get to you better than anyone else, don't they? And I don't even think they are usually trying. They just do it. :sad2:  for you! I think what you're doing getting your education is VERY smart indeed!

Tim got a nice job offer. But we don't think we can take it.

I'll continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I know you'll make the right decision.

Thanks Lynda and Josh for coming out and hanging with us!!!

Thanks for asking! We had fun! :)

Lynda! You DO look like Alicia Silverstone! WOW! for you and Josh!

I can still remember when I was told that. I was like "OK! She's pretty. I'll take it." I think it might have been the first time I was ever told I looked like any celebrity, so I was glad it was someone I actually liked. (I still think Clueless is hilarious!)

Are we nearing the rainbow bridge? Anybody? I mean she's not in any pain but her quality of life is pretty awful. We're almost at the point of carrying her outside to go to the bathroom.

Any opinions on this subject would be appreciated.

I don't think I can be much help here. Just  ! I know that would be a really difficult decision for us too. I think it is all about what their quality of life is. The hard part is figuring out where to draw the line.

Here's a question, who have you been told you look like? Celebrity style.
I'm late to the game here, but I've never been told that I look like anybody. I'm a pretty average looking guy; nothing too distinctive about me.

After our 2nd week, here are our totals for our Thanksgiving day goal. I feel like I'm missing a few people (UMA? PamRob? I thought I remembered you posting last week/this weekend, but I don't have a week 2 total for y'all. Sandy - You posted -1, but you said it wasn't offical or something like that. So I didn't mark you down for that.)

f_PeepGoalsm_7858f25.png

So if I missed you, I apologize! Please just let me know what your total was so I can update it. Thanks!

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Majicintheair.....Is your daughter listening to gospel or contemporary Christian? Because I love contemporary Christian and listen to K-Love all the time! It's good stuff. Give it a listen!

:

LEXMELINDA = :scratchin Nope, not even CCM, strictly gospel. Church songs. They even have their own C.D.'s. But, really it's a good thing for her. Sometimes she will listen to CCM, Stellar Kart and Reliant K are a couple that she bought in the "transition phase" from emo music to only Gospel. Gospel is really very pretty music, a former teacher from the school sings on a couple of her cd's and she sounds like an angel singing. When DS is in the car, I usually keep the radio off or listen to a talk news channel. It seems that all the so called normal morning radio shows can get pretty trashy. Anyone ever heard of Lex and Terry? :scared1: Some bad stuff right there. On the ccm channels, you never have to worry about what they are going to say. :) Having a teenager is an education in itself, that is a sure thing! :thumbsup2

Good morning peeps. I read through all of the postings this morning and I would reply to some but I woke up sick. My DH was sick this weekend and he never gets sick so I knew I'd get it too since my immune system is not all the way back yet. Sure enough, today is the start for me. I would have called in sick but my assistant is on 2 weeks vacation, my accounts payable person quit 2 weeks ago and it's our fiscal year end and the payroll quarter end. Plus I arrived to work late (as usual) and our phone system is down. I'm the Chief Financial Officer here but my job encompasses all of the ridiculous administrative responsibilities also. Like phone systems. Which I know nothing about. My assistant generally handles this type of stuff and she is gone. So people from every building here are calling me to tell me the outside phone system isn't working. Our company is fairly large and we are in 8 buildings so these people don't realize I've already been called by 50 people before them!!!!!! WELCOME TO MONDAY.

Melinda--that's a tough call you have to make on your dog. I've been through it twice before. 20 years ago, it was my cocker spaniel. He was suffering but I couldn't do it. My DH had to take him while I was not at home because I refused to face it. I was furious at him for awhile but it was best for the dog. Then again, 4 years ago, our old dalmation was blind and deaf but getting around okay because our other dog acted sort of like a guide dog. But she started having these seizures and was having trouble sleeping unless DH laid with her. DH took her to the vet and the vet made the decision that it was time. DH took that one pretty badly as she was his baby but I think it helped that the vet said it was the right thing to do. Unfortunately, it is the downside to having pets and there is no way to truly be ready for it.

I hope everyone's day is going better than mine. But thank goodness the internet didn't go down along with the phones:banana:

Melinda: It's a tough choice, but I'd be thinking what quality of life is my pet having and am thankful that there's a humane way to help our animals along.
We put down our black lab several years ago. I just didn't want to see her suffer.

Baby's crying more later.

hey, peeps! just flying by to say hello. this weekend i was swamped so i'm wayyyyyyyyy behind. we had an HOA fall festival on saturday that i had to do a lot of stuff for and that took all day. by the way, have you ever had to drag one of those moonwalk jumpy things? they're really HEAVY and now my traps are killing me!

then we had out-of-town guests saturday night/sunday. then last night as i was settling down my dad calls me and tells me that my little brother was robbed at knifepoint while delivering food for his job. scary stuff! i'm just so glad and thankful that he's okay.

now i'm trying to crank out some work before end of the month (wednesday) while doing laundry and finalizing my ADRs for our april trip - i can make them tomorrow! :yay: i'll try to catch up later tonight!

Hi peeps. I have been reading along hte past day or so but my internet has been acting wonky so I didnt quote much.

Lots of music talk around here this week. I am very out of the loop on music stuff. If they dont play it on Radio Disney I probably dont know it ;) My all time favorite artist is Billy Joel and I am super excited because he is coming to Dallas in a month or so....tickets went on sale this weekend and I found a friend to go with me. (Dh would go but he dosnt really care. For $50/ticket I wanted to go with somebody who cared!)

Celebrity look alike- I have been told Brooke Shields (back in the day, I think it is my full eyebrows) and also Kirstie Alley. I am hoping they mean when she was thin

Melinda-that is tough about your poor doggy. As you know we went through something similar with my kitty a few weeks ago and it was so hard. In fact I am still struggling with it. I know it was the right thing to do, the vet agreed, but I still keep thinking 'what if'. I just have to remember it is about the quality of life, not the fact that she may have managed to hang on for a few more days or weeks...you know?:grouphug:

Punkin- Your poor brother! I am glad he is ok. How scary!!!!

Hi everyone!:goodvibes Remember me?:rolleyes1
I lost 2.5 lbs last week.I didn't post on Friday ,mainly because I haven't been active on the thread in a while and felt weird about it.But then I decided I need to get back on this thread and maybe it will help.:hippie:

Everyone have a great Monday!:grouphug:

Of course we remember you!!! :welcome: Back!!!

I am taking Joshua back to the Dr. for the 3rd time in 3 weeks.

It is official---We have decided to do the Gatlinburg this summer. If anyone has any information on where to stay let me know.

 I hope the little guy gets to feeling better.

:woohoo: on the trip to Gatlinburg. I love going to the Smokies. :cloud9: First of all, I feel like an expert on this subject. :thumbsup2 I actually get to address something that I know a little something about. ;) We've been to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg a total of 6 times in the last 2 years. :rolleyes1 Will you be staying in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge? Gatlinburg is great because you can walk the entire city in about 30 minutes (minus the shopping, looking, tasting, etc.) However, Pigeon Forge has a whole lot more to do, it's just really spread out. What dates are you looking at? How many of you will be going? Are you wanting to stay in a cabin or hotel? I don't mean to sound so nosey but we've stayed in several cabins in the Pigeon Forge area and I will send the websites to you, if you are interested. I can also give my opinion on some of the shows, etc., if you really want to know. Have a great day! :goodvibes

 I hope the little guy gets to feeling better.

He did get an asthma diagnosis and we are starting breathing treatments. We will do this at least 2 x a day for at least 6 mths. Also put him on his 3rd antibiotic.

We are looking at going right after Memorial Day and staying for the rest of the week. It will be the 6 of us. I know we will do Dollywood and the Water Park. Will go to Ober (DD wants to ice skate) and also the aquarium. DH wants with a great view of the mountains. We will do both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg--so it does not matter which location we stay at. We would prefer a cabin. Would love the websites and any and all recommedation. Thanks.

 Hi, Peeps!
Do y'all have room for one more here? I've read great things about you and would love to join in!
Just a little about me...I'm 28, been married going on six years to a wonderful, supportive husband, and I'm a SAHM to two beautiful daughters (a three-year-old and an almost 9 week-old). The 9 week-old is the reason I'm here! I was doing WW before I (suprisingly, but happily) found out I was pg. I had lost a little over 20 lbs. and was feeling great! Then, of course, while I was pg I indulged in every craving! So, needless to say, I need to get rid of the baby weight...and then some!
So, how does this work? I would start reading from the beginning, but I'm afraid I'd still be reading five years from now...quite a long thread you've got here! :)

OMG..your poor brother. I am so glad he is ok...that is super scary stuff! :scared1: I hope they caught the person that held him up!

Hi everyone!:goodvibes Remember me?:rolleyes1

I skimmed the last few pages and wanted to tell you,Monica, that I will be praying for you and DH as you make these decisions.

WELCOME BACK!!! CONGRATS ON THE LOSS!!! We've got to lose together so that we are the hottest peeps in AK in Jan. ;)

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE! :sunny:

Woke up to dog poop by the computer this morning. Uggg. We have to confine our almost 16 year old dog to the computer room now for various reasons.....she paces at night, she uses the bathroom all over the house, and for her own safety as she can't see/hear.

So this morning I wake up to find that not only has she pooped...she paced through it several hundred times. :headache: Are we nearing the rainbow bridge? Anybody? I mean she's not in any pain but her quality of life is pretty awful. We're almost at the point of carrying her outside to go to the bathroom.

Any opinions on this subject would be appreciated.

So sorry to hear about your puppy woes. I would call your vet and ask their opinion. Our sheltie was having bathroom issues so bad that she had to become an outside dog, after leaving inside for 11 years. Well, I believe that it extended her life. She did really well for about a year and a half, and then we found her in the backyard one day. I think she had a heart attack. :sad1:

Your vet ought to be able to give you good guidance. That is what they went to school for. It doesn't make the decision any easier though. :grouphug:

How scary for your brother. Glad he is doing ok. I had a busy weekend too, and am behind on all my threads. I have the preschool Halloween party tomorrow then dd's class party on Wed., so I don't see me having much DIS time this week. Know that I  you all, and think of you often. :grouphug:

We always have room for more! I do WW too. I have lost about 13 lbs. since August. I am a lifetime member who is back for the THIRD time. :scared:

We weigh in on Fridays, and post it in a BOLD pretty color, so that UtahThreadMama can keep track of it. Then she post how much we all lost in one week! Just jump in and start posting. I know we all introduced ourselves way back, but I can't even remember where that is anymore. :confused3 :rotfl: :rotfl2: You will find this to be a very supportive group. :cheer2:

just posting a fly bye post .
i am back from disneyland and have officially been disney pimped, now i can understand the love and obsession that you all have for the house of mouse. we had a blast and a ton of pixie dust thrown our way and let's just say on a numerous amount of times my kids were the stars of the shows.. while there my clothes were a lil baggy so i am hoping that is a good sign :rotfl: i am done unpacking and now just have to re-straighten my house back up:goodvibes a very dear friend was watching my kitty and decided to Pixie Dust my house so i came home with a list of to-do's and they were to- done;) :rotfl: :rotfl: well i am off to bed nighty night all .

Welcome back! Can't wait to hear about DL and baggy clothes are a very good thing.:thumbsup2

I got back from my retreat last night at 9, and was too tired to get on here. I spent the last hour skimming, so here we go.
The retreat was THE BEST! better than WDW, if you can believe that. the ladies there reminded me of you all; varied ages, varied life experience, but so full of love and compassion for each other. I don't want to talk about my weight right now. Let me just say that a lot of the love on the weekend was of the foodish variety.
Here's a fun, corny video for Gayle (and Danielle and Sandy....my sisters of the late 70's/early 80's)
Loved it! I think I know what DH and I should wear for Halloween! Too stylin'!

I remember the Polo and Izod thing! I believe I had sweaters with some tiny animal logo embroided on them...worn over an oxford, of course! For some reason, that reminded me of sweater dresses! :rotfl2: Who remembers sweater dresses?
I just read in somewhere that they are coming back. I was thinking I need to get to goal, work out more, and get some good "foundation garments" as my grandma used to call them, if I want to wear one. I do like them.

We almost have the same color eyes. Duh!
Sometimes I'm told I have a good sense of humor.:rolleyes1

All my young life everyone told me I looked like Cindy Brady. Even when I was a teen. Especially when I got my braces. Who knows.

Here's a question, who have you been told you look like? Celebrity style.

DisUnc said I look like Ellen DeGeneres. I'll take it as a compliment, because I think she's pretty cute.

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Majicintheair.....Is your daughter listening to gospel or contemporary Christian? Because I love contemporary Christian and listen to K-Love all the time! It's good stuff. Give it a listen!
I subscribe and listen to Air 1. I love it. It is very uplifting in the morning.

Thanks for the comforting words re: my brother. I do get along with him but he does take things too far sometimes which is what he did yesterday. I could tell the rest of the afternoon he was being extra nice to me to try to make up for it, but I'm still upset about it though. I have the tendency to forgive but not forget.
Watch out Shannon! that's the beginnings of what they call Irish Alzheimer's. That's where you forget everything but your grudges :rotfl: . I have a brother who goes around bragging about how much better and smarter he is than the rest of the family. Let me just say that I have my doubts on that.
So let it go if you can, and if he does it again, call him on it right away: "Gosh, I look up to you, and it really hurts me when you make comments like that." Let him know what a hiney-head he's being, and maybe he'll mend his ways.

then we had out-of-town guests saturday night/sunday. then last night as i was settling down my dad calls me and tells me that my little brother was robbed at knifepoint while delivering food for his job. scary stuff! i'm just so glad and thankful that he's okay.

Sorry about the robbery. Glad your bro is OK. What is wrong with some people?

Welcome. We weigh in on Friday morning, and post the loss in big bright numbers. You don't have to say what you weigh. Come on often and share about life. That's about it.

just posting a fly bye post .

Welcome back. Glad you loved DL. How sweet of your friend to pick up the slack for you. Don't you love to be loved?

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Everybody ready for Halloween???

I bought Blow Pops yesterday to give to the trick or treaters mainly because I DON'T LIKE THEM! Do not buy candy that you like....or you will be tempted to eat it! You have been warned!

We have a set time for trick or treat here so when it's nearing the end, I give out lots of treats so as not to have leftovers! HERE ARE SOME HALLOWEEN CANDY AVOIDANCE STRATEGIES!!!

Thanks to everyone who commented on our doggy situation. We love her but she just doesn't to care about where she goes to the bathroom anymore. I had a dog breeder tell me to take her on a good day...not a bad day. Sounds simple but it's hard to know when's the right good day. Ya know?

Allie...I wish I could put her out but she sort of freaks out when she's out there and doesn't stay outside long and still has a very shrill bark. Plus it's getting cold and she is a very thin fox terrier. :sad2:

Dawn.....I'm so glad your brother is OK!!!

MRNsMom
....:welcome: Pull up a chair, make yourself at home. Post often!

Danielle
.....Did your sister get the pathology report yet? Glad you had a great time at the retreat!

Majic
....I agree about the radio morning shows!! We have Bob and Tom here and they are raun-chee. I agree with Danielle....Air-1 and K-love are very uplifting in the morning. I love it when I see the kids singing along! :goodvibes

EVERYBODY ELSE!
:wave2:

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

okay, i'm starting with my post from yesterday so i'm very sorry if i missed something!

melinda - so sorry to hear about your dog! i don't have any advice....just a

thanks to everyone for your kind thoughs about my brother! he's fine.....back to work. i couldn't do that if that happened to me. brett was mad more than anything though. he said, "he's lucky i didn't run over him with my car as he was running away." boys.....:sad2: anyway, the good thing is he works at a place called jimmy john's (celery may know it since she's in nashville) and they don't make them advertise on their cars when they deliver. so i think it was a random incident. i know that sometimes delivery people get targeted because the scum know they have money on them.

Celebrity look alike- I have been told Brooke Shields (back in the day, I think it is my full eyebrows) and also Kirstie Alley. I am hoping they mean when she was thin

my sister is named after brooke shields. if my brother would've been a girl he was going to be named kelly after kelly lebrock. you can tell they were born in the '80's! i was named after jessica lang's character in "king kong". except they spelled it dwan. go figure. :confused3

We are looking at going right after Memorial Day and staying for the rest of the week. It will be the 6 of us. I know we will do Dollywood and the Water Park. i haven't been to gatlinburg in awhile, but i grew up in nashville so i've been countless times.....it's a fun place! you need to go eat at calhoun's. it's near the end of the main strip in gatlinburg and it's on the right if you're facing towards pigeon forge. it's one of our favorite restaurants - ray and i had our first date at the one in nashville! we don't get to eat there any more because they're only in tennessee. oh, and if you're still looking for a cabin, check out this website. we've rented from owners a few times and it always works out well:

Then, of course, while I was pg I indulged in every craving! So, needless to say, I need to get rid of the baby weight...and then some!
So, how does this work? I would start reading from the beginning, but I'm afraid I'd still be reading five years from now...quite a long thread you've got here! :)

WELCOME!!!!!!! you'll love it here! :goodvibes

just posting a fly bye post .
i am back from disneyland and have officially been disney pimped, now i can understand the love and obsession that you all have for the house of mouse. we had a blast and a ton of pixie dust thrown our way and let's just say on a numerous amount of times my kids were the stars of the shows.. while there my clothes were a lil baggy so i am hoping that is a good sign :rotfl: i am done unpacking and now just have to re-straighten my house back up:goodvibes a very dear friend was watching my kitty and decided to Pixie Dust my house so i came home with a list of to-do's and they were to- done;) :rotfl: :rotfl: well i am off to bed nighty night all .

welcome home! :flower3: glad you had some pixie dust! and loose clothes.....:woohoo:

Everybody ready for Halloween???

I bought Blow Pops yesterday to give to the trick or treaters mainly because I DON'T LIKE THEM! Do not buy candy that you like....or you will be tempted to eat it! You have been warned!

We have a set time for trick or treat here so when it's nearing the end, I give out lots of treats so as not to have leftovers! HERE ARE SOME HALLOWEEN CANDY AVOIDANCE STRATEGIES!!!

i've got three bags of candy: skittles, smarties & m&m's. i'm not a big candy person so they don't bother me. my only candy weakness is candy corn (it's evil!) and gummy anything. i wish we had a set time. we get trick-or-treaters up until like 10:00 at night! i usually run out of candy a little before that.

last year i wore my vandy shirt on halloween night because they had just beaten georgia and i swear i thought some of the parents were going to turn around and refuse their kids from taking candy from me! :lmao:

i'm off to make my ADRs!!!!!!!!! :yay:

fly by from me too!!

:welcome: :welcome: Jump right in!! Hang on, some days it can be a bumpy ride!!

Melinda oooo Earth Wind and Fire - I should upload them to my ipod and get out and get running!!

Aaron That would be accurate, as predicted, one too many beers this weekend!!

I still feel blessed that they included me in their lives last weekend!! They are amazing kids!!

Not sure why, but I broke 6 nails (and 2 nails broke, then broke again!!) in the last 4 days!! DD had a horrible day - refused to go to school, stomache... not this route again!! Then when I went to Target she wanted Beef Jerky?!!! Ok then... I have no clue!!

I have so much to do for that dang Halloween Party - and DS and FDil are closing on their first home at 10am - I want to celebrate with them afterwards - hope they can close before noon!!!

We MUST carve Punmkins tonight!! Pumpkin seeds tomorrow!!

I looked at the calendar, I'm scheduled to work the PM shift!!! gotta run!!

:welcome: back Spongie and Dismom!!
