Fun Facts About Groundhogs

The average groundhog is 20 inches long and normally weighs from 12 to 15 pounds. Punxsutawney Phil weighs about 20 pounds and is 22 inches long.

Groundhogs are covered with coarse grayish hairs (fur) tipped with brown or sometimes dull red. They have short ears, a short tail, short legs, and are surprisingly quick. Their jaws are exceptionally strong.

A groundhog's diet consists of lots of greens, fruits, and vegetables and very little water. Most of their liquids come from dewy leaves.

A groundhog can whistle when it is alarmed. Groundhogs also whistle in the spring when they begin courting.

Insects do not bother groundhogs and germs pretty much leave them alone. They are resistant to the plagues that periodically wipe out large numbers of wild animals. One reason for this is their cleanliness.

Groundhogs are one of the few animals that really hibernate. Hibernation is not just a deep sleep. It is actually a deep coma, where the body temperature drops to a few degrees above freezing, the heart barely beats, the blood scarcely flows, and breathing nearly stops.

Young Groundhogs are usually born in mid-April or May, and by July they are able to go out on their own. The size of the litter is 4 to 9. A baby groundhog is called a kit or a cub.

A groundhog's life span is normally 6 to 8 years. Phil receives a drink of a magical punch every summer during the annual Groundhog Picnic, which gives him 7 more years of life.

Well it's weigh-in day already, how time flys! I have lost 1lb which considering yesterday (although we haven't started the cake!) is great. It must have been the half hour walk to the restaurant and then back again that helped work off desert. :rotfl2:

We don't celebrate it here but Happy Groundhog Day. :cheer2:

I need ideas for superbowl Sunday--I am going over to another families home and that coulple is on WW, but none of the other families are. HELP!! I want to take fun stuff, but also something that I know that I can have. I knew you guys could help me.

Hi everyone,I did not get on the Dis yesterday so I am way behind but I wanted to weigh in and I will read when I get home today.I am down 2 lbs!!I was really good this week and it showed.:cheer2:

Good morning all--It is FRIDAY!!:cool1: I weighed first thing and I am down are your ready---2 pounds for a total of a week and a half 2.5 poundsI know that ia not a lot, but for me I it is awesome. I have 10 more pounds to feel ok or I could go for 5 and be very happy--right were I was when I finished high school--not the same size but the same weight. If I could get back to the size as well---well 3 kids later and no more playing soccer-I really do not see that happening, but I am going to try.

One thing before I go--who esle here hates tap water. I cannot stand it:crazy2: --I am out of bottled water--so I have 20 oz is a glass getting very cold (the only time I like it very cold) and then I am going to add my tang Walmart brand flavoring to it.

Anyway--must go and get ready before I wakey the kids.
 
No Change for me this week...AF on her way so feeling bloated and unattractive, going to buy lemon htis morning!!!

I have absolutely no change this week. I have been pretty good ( other than the donuts that one day but even then I had broccoli for dinner and stayed within my calorie range!!!) and have had no loss in 3 weeks!!!! I am extremely frustrated!!!!

But congratulations to all of you who did lose!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
 
AND I cannot seem to make myself drink water, the water here tastes awful.

Water has always been hard for me to get down. Our tap water isn't horrendous, but not great either. My solution: I have a Brita Filter I keep in the fridge and fill continually. That is what I drink at meals. I then have "flavored water" at work, 32oz bottle and then I refill it with spring water from the cooler we have. Sometimes I drink it plain, sometimes with a "crystal light" type flavoring. That way, I know I get at least 64oz a day.

BTW...I haven't weighed in yet...I'm waiting for my coffee to "do it's magic!" LOL

Ok, so the month I have been losing I am down a total of 2 lbs. But, it is my fault. I havent been doing that well. AF this week, and I am sick, sick, sick.

I probably have 5lbs of liquid in my head as we speak.. and no colon blow:rotfl2:

So, I am very proud of those who have lost, and stayed the same. If you gained dont beat yourself up!

I know when I go back to work in a week that I will be better. I am very stressed about what all needs to be done when I go back to work and hopefully after a couple of weeks back at work we will have a home routine.

Anyway, Love all y'al!!!

0 lbs lost or gained. Starting fresh with WW as of last night so my goals have been tweaked a bit. I discovered I will have to lose 10 more lbs to hit goal there even though I'd be perfectly happy to be with those 10 lbs. I have always weighed heavy and not really looked like how much I weigh. So maybe they will let it slide when they see that I'm actually thin at that weight. Good grief, if I went below 120 I'd probably look like Nicole Ritchie and I'm only 5'3".

CONGRATS to all the Peep losers and to those that didn't lose or gained. Just the fact that you showed up to post your numbers makes you a winner in my book!

I am happy to report that I am back to my pre-WDW, last peeps weigh in weight!

I read everything but was too tired to post last night. I think about you guys often and really wish i could be here all day long when it seems everyone is active.

Congrats to the loosers, gainers and samers (that's not a word but......oh well) We are getting healthier and are focused on our goal, no matter what the scale says.

I have to head to work, will try to check in again tonight.
 
reporting no gain or loss on my end :confused3 I am no where near my goal weight so I am not used to this not losing stuff so early into the program!

i am happy it wasn't a gain, but i was soo good this week with exercising and watching my food intake..maybe i didn't drink enough water...who knows. I am kinda sad about it, I'm not going to lie..but i know that i just have to keep trucking! To me, my body does feel better and getting more toned up in places, so i must be doing SOMETHING right..ah well...there is always next Friday!

duncanssweetie – Welcome! I know where you’re coming from in re: to chocolate – it’s my one major craving. One thing I discovered, though, is that I can actually stop after one piece of really, really good chocolate, say Godiva, Lindt or Maison du Chocolate. Forget about it with the Hershey’s – I’ll easily down an entire bag of Miniatures! I know it’s not the same for everyone, but for me, I’m not good at total deprivation. I have to allow a chocolate a day, or I’ll give up after a week and consume massive quantities.

:wave2: no loss no gain 0 Actually considering what I did not do I am delighted. THe scale was up on Tuesday by 2lbs and I was a bit afraid. Thankfully I got refocused and hope next week will be better!

Hey it is snowing here again. Just finished walking the dogs with my neighbor, and it started really coming down. It was so pretty! Not sticking to anything, but still pretty.
 
Hi V--

Grumpy has been training in Minnesota for the last 2 weeks, then he will train in SD till next week. So, last week I drove:drive: 5.5 hrs to MNPLS to see him.

I am not sure why he hasnt been on line, other than I think he gets a little depressed when he is away from us and doesnt even talk to us much.

Usually, you guys perk him up, so I hope he will be coming back on line!
 
well here it goes, I'm Brandi, and I'm addicted to chocolate anything, which has made me "fluffy", okay, I got that off my chest and now that I am "out" of the hershey wrapper and have removed almost all of the chocolate from my house (except for the fat free sugar free pudding, hey I'm not THAT crazy, just a little;) ) I need help, and everyone here on hte DIS has been so sweet and kind with everything Disney I thought I would join you guys over here for a little support, and to give some in return as well.

UMama said weigh in is tomorrow so I will start my countdown to slim starting tomorrow. I have full access to all kinds of excercise equipment and a heated indoor pool, I just need to get off my "fluff" and do it, I don't want to be miserable for our upcoming trip so I need ot get with it and get back to some sort of exercise regime.Being cooped up in the house due to weather this winter would be a good excuse but I have a treadmill right here.

I really don't overeat, except when it comes to chocolate and breads (not together, unless brownies are considered bread :rotfl: ). I totally love the new sugar free fat free puddings, so that has helped with calories, but I still crave other chocolate, I honestly think it's genetic, my Gramma and my Aunt have the sane exact problem, LOL. AND I cannot seem to make myself drink water, the water here tastes awful.

Anywho, I look forward to gettign to know you guys and wish all of you luck in "disapearing"

Brandi!!!! You made it! Ok, we're in this together now. You , Me, and our 30 or so disappearing friends! We are the incredible shrinking women (plus a dude).

I'm so happy for you getting rid of all your chocolate! I would have EATEN it to "get rid of it" but :confused3 . Water is a tough-spot for me as well. My solution is Crystal Lite. It tastes great. I usually buy the cheap version from Walmart and mix it up in my Pampered Chef gallon size pitcher. That way I get my gallon of water! Exercise is my other HARD part. I just dont do enough! I really dont do it! It is REALLY slowing my progress down. So, your newness motivates me! You're going to have a fanstastic week!!!!!


Oh, for everyone else.....I'm only up 1 pound!!!!! thanks to 2 days of massive effort and pooh muffins! See, I WAS up 3 pounds thanks to the earths gravitational pull (:sad2: ) and goodness knows what after hours eating I've done! I'm glad it's only 1 pound I'm up instead of the 3 BUT STILL, I'm weeks behind in my goals. Gee, I juct cant imagine WHY????(not exersicing hardly at all, besides playing endless Ring around the Rosie with 3 two year olds)

I KNOW I have to have my environment of success at all times. So I'm making a HUGE pot of that zero point soup today to eat with a salad. I GOTTA EXERCISE!!!!!! I did it before without doing that, but thanks to the "yo-yo" factor, It's NOT happening this time with out it and for the rest of my life. Oprah and I have that in common :p .

Ok, now I have to go back and catchup(MMmmmm Ketchup!)....Chatty Pattys!
