Thanks for the offer of another stroller, but I agree with Safetymom....
When the orginal Stroller Swap started it was about Community with money saving coming in second. The first swap was relatively easy but after a year, both myself and the stroller were tired. We both retired.
Then SS2 was born with a crew of coordinators, unfortunatley the stroller that was donated died relatively early and the old stroller came back in. About 6 months or so into the Swap the stroller was lost. How Safetymom EVER found the bag with the scrapbook I'll never know...but I do know she worked very hard to find both the stroller and the bag.
THEN...another DISer offered her stroller and I decided that since I was moving from NJ to FL that it wouldn't be that difficult since I was so close to WDW. I came out of retirement and SS3 was born.
The response to SS3 hasn't been even close to SS1. During the SS1 I had lists of swappers, sitters, and people on stand-by. There were never lapses in swaps and the stroller never sat anywhere unattended for long. This time I have had to post openings, hop on "who's going" lists and send PM's to people that I saw were going during open swap times, on down times I had the stroller in my closet or Safetymom had it at her house.
Since the SS3 began, swappers had begun "dropping off" the stroller wherever and whenever and not following the simple basic rules that went with being a part of the SS3. The rules were simple, make arrangements, meet, swap, add a lime green ribbon (ribbon supplied), take a pic (camera supplied) and do a scrapbook page (supplies supplied). Not technically difficult right?
I realize that people are on vacation and don't want to loose any precious Disney time but really 5 min of your time to say "hello" and give another DISer the stroller isn't that big of an intrusion. It states in the "rules" to make EVERY effort to meet in person....that this was MORE then another FREEBEE. Sadly this wasn't followed and on more then one occasion someone has had to do a stroller hunt. This time....it's gone.
Community was the BASIS for the Stroller Swap somehow that was lost as was the stroller and the bag so to me that says....well it's time to end.
I have, for the most part, enjoyed running the SS's, I loved looking through the scrapbook and I enjoyed meeting other DISer's at the beginning or end of their trips.
I will be PM'ing the upcoming swappers to tell them that I am sincerely sorry that this has come to an early end.
