Dis Mom's Club?

Taryn, so sorry to hear about your son. I hope you will be able to find lots of good resources and support.

Hello DISMoms! Sorry I have been MIA. We were out of town for a week and since we got home we have been getting ready for school. My kids go back on Monday.:banana: It has also been an emotional week for me. We found out last Monday that my DS has Aspergers. It was news that I was expecting, but I found that I was not quite as ready to hear it as I thought I would be. I have taken this week to adapt to the news and on Tuesday I will start researching and finding out what our next steps will be. (Please don't mention this on FB. We are not ready for that yet.)

Tough news for a parent. A friend of mine from elementary school has a son dx about the same age as your son. He is now 15 and doing fabulous. A co-workers son will begin the testing process but they already know. It's pretty interesting watching the different methods of working w/ these special kids. I know a grandmother raising grandchildren and she combed the US looking for coping skills for the child & herself. She found a sensory clinic. They used weighted blankets & a brushtype of thing she would rub on his arms. It was a calming exercise. She tried to find a massage therapist to treat them but no success. The adults I work w/ who have this dx do well the day of a massage but because of their finances the can only have it once a month. These adults laugh at me bc I hate massages. Keep in mind the adults I work w/ have a plethora of dx so one day a month is like gold. Good luck & God Bless.

Hi Ladies! I've been doing far too much lurking on this thread instead of posting and sharing!

Taryn, I'm sorry to hear about the tough news concerning your son. I hope you find the best information and support to help you and your family!

KY*Figment, I wish it was only 70 degrees here today! I'd take something in the 80s even! It's been 99 and over 100 everyday and we need rain badly! Of course, I keep telling myself that the heat is good training for WDW since my trips are always in May/June! :)

I wish there was a store in my local area that ran good gas and Disney gift card promotions! The closest one to me is about 3 hours away, so no help for me either!

My kids start school Monday and I start a new job on Monday as well! I'm glad that I found something that pays more than what I am currently doing, but it's a job I used to have a few years ago and I really don't enjoy it! But my big picture involves bringing more income into my single income home so that I can get some goals accomplished quicker!

Ok, off to start laundry and walk my dog! Have a Blessed Day everyone!

I do this too!! I read what other DISMOMS are saying every day but I don't share...my life seems so boring!
So yeah, I'm gonna do less lurking and more sharing...but not as much as those DisDads...they are so chatty! :rotfl2:

Taryn, Sorry to hear about your son. I know several people who's children have been diagnosed. The parents always seem to do best when they have a good support system. Your son will do well as he has you our there advocating for him.

Turns out I will not be running in the Princess half in Feb. nor going to the Mammoth Caves in March. But it is all for a good cause. My DH and I are expecting our third child sometime in March. It was a little surprise but nothing that the excitement didn't overcome. Do you think a 2 month old would enjoy the caves and we could just go when school is out?:confused3

Either way the little one will get their first taste of Disney early as we are going to a Disney wedding in August 2012. Expose them young and often that's my belief.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

70 is long gone, back to hot and humid.

I wondered when you would share the news. Your DH shared the news, I guess it was discussed around Fantasy Football picks. :rotfl2:Congrats! You know w/ my first DD I would never consider the caves at 2 months but w/ the second DD I drug her everywhere so why not a cave. The caves are a guided tour so you won't need to find an infant size mining hat & hatchet. :lmao:We exposed the DD's at 3 & 1 to WDW. The only time the oldest ever went speechless in her life was when she was 3 at WDW meeting Sleeping Beauty for the first time. :wizard: The youngest believed Pluto was her actual dog calling him "my puppy." Those were the days but now we have moved onto girl drama and smart mouth.

Congrats again!

Thanks. I knew he shared it with the DisDads. He actually did that before sharing it with his family. :rotfl2: We took our DD to WDW when she was 7 weeks. She was unexpected and when they called saying that she was born we made arrangements with the airline for her to join us. So this one will be a little older than that for their first trip.

No wonder our DH's get along so well bc my DH shares more on Disdads than anywhere. I found out he had a Dismeet on FB by the other Disdad.

Just stopped in to say congrats on the good news to Bambi !!!!

ps.If the child to be, cannot be born a Steeler fan I hope He/She becomes a Bears fan!!!

Barry has set up several meets. And I will say the guys have all been very nice. Barry is friends with more of them on FB and I have become friends with a few as well. It's interesting that you really can find great friends this way.

Congrats E3yore!

Thank you

Thank you.

Sorry but I can not authorize Steeler fan. I pray they are a Bears fan as well. I don't think I can take another Packer fan in the family. Barry may be banned from wearing Green or Yellow for the first several years of the child's life.:rotfl2:

Calvin Borel, 3 time KY Derby winner arrested in Evansville, IN (40 min away from me) for DUI. My dad shoes horses a.k.a. Ferrier. I grew up around mostly pleasure horses/ rodeo/ quarter horse racers. When I was a kid I wanted to be a jockey but I kept growing until I hit 5'10, taller than both parents. My brother & I have not con't the horse tradition. Expensive to do during a bad horse economy. Neither one of us are married to country people, the are town/ city people. I don't do any of the FB farm games bc I know it is hard work so town living is good for me.

I can understand making friends on Dis. I have more in common w/ people on here than I do w/ the majority of people I come in contact w/. Common interest WDW, overall same stage in life, & so on. My BFF doesn't understand the WDW obsession but she & her family will be there a few days in Oct when we are there. Her husband is anti WDW so I'm sure that will be unpleasant. I haven't made friends on here but DH has along w/ enablers of our WDW addiction.

I have made some amazing friends on-line. :lovestruc I am running the Princess 1/2 with 15 women I met on-line. I have only met one of them in person before. They have been there for me through so many things and I can't wait to share this experience with them.

I have made a few friends and enjoy them. Yes the greatest thing is enabling the addiction. My BFF's fiance did not like WDW at first and after we dragged him on his first trip he has loved it and will now be married there next August. I believe anyone can have a change of heart when it comes to Disney.

AirGoofy said get off our page.
