Dis Mom's Club?

What do you guys have planned for the week????:surfweb:

Just converted Cameran's crib to toddler bed last night (Oh Lord). I love my DH!:lovestruc He barricaded himself in her room with her for 35 minutes because.. well... it didn't go so well at first, but when she woke up this morning and found that she could get out of bed on her own and get as far as Mommy and Daddy's room before she hit the gate, she was SO happy. So long story, short- We are celebrating big steps this week! :cool1:

We've also started potty training :rotfl:

She had one success the other night, and every time I've assked her to go since, she has replied "nooooo..." :rolleyes1 I haven't given up yet. :thumbsup2

So, what are you ladies up to?

Good Morning DisMoms-

Well, it's another rainy day here. We have had very little sunshine the past 2 weeks. But I am sure there is a farmer somewhere around here saying... " we could use a little more rain." :rotfl2:

DS10 wants to start summer band to get a head start on fall when they officially start band. He wants to try the trombone but I am having a hard time finding a used one that is good but still on a budget. Have any of you ever bought this kind of thing off ebay? I think we are going to end up renting one until we find one to buy. But if we rent a new, shiny one and then buy him a used one, then he won't be too thrilled.

What do you guys have planned for the week????:surfweb:

I would rent before you buy. At that age he may change his mind about the instrument that he wants to play. I know I did but I was stuck because my parents bought it for me.

You are taking very big steps this week. :worship: I would not have been brave enough to take on potty training and changing beds in the same week.

Changing from the crib to the toddler bed did not work for either of my kids. Gave up after a few weeks and bought the big kid bed for each of them. They both would keep getting out of bed in the middle of the night but as soon as we switched to the big bed they slept through the night. :confused3

We made progress in our household as well this week. DD5 starts kindergarten in the fall :sad1: and it has been a nightmare trying to find after school care for her. Our school district clearly does not believe in parents working outside of the home. We found a WONDERFUL daycare that will do the transporting for us and she will start a few days before school starts. :woohoo:

Have a great rest of the week.

Congrats on the kindergarten enrollment! You were right- WAY to many big steps/ huge changes all at once. (Mommy home on summer break, potty training, bed change, starting "Little Gym" classes tomorrow, not seeing PopPop everyday, 100+ degree weather- ALL THIS WEEK!)

She has not "earned any stars" since the 13th in the potty training area :sad2: She'll sit there, but it's a no-go for anything else. Third night in the toddler bed and 93 minutes to get her to stay in the bed AHHH! (I promise, I TRIED to leave after 15, but I caught her sneaking out of bed :tiptoe:)

This was just not my night. My DH's birthday is tomorrow, so I planned to cook a fantastic late-night Latin dish and clean before he comes home from work (11:30PM). Well, Cameran took extra long to get to bed, then I had a heck of a time cooking when I can't taste anything (weird cold-like symptoms like congestion, cough, etc... that only happens to me at night, every night :confused3), cleaning was a fiasco- ever fill up a garbage bag only to discover there's no sealed end on the bottom? Fine time for a factory blooper. :lmao:

Anyways. I DID have some wonderful parts- like I've been hard at work laminating Lime Green Mickey Heads for our WDW trip- go look at the pics! (on my PTR- link is in my signature) :cloud9:

Ahhh... Planning makes me happy. Night Ladies! -Stace

Good morning Mom's.

Not a lot of activity on here lately. I guess everyone is having a busy summer. Enjoy it and stay cool.

Ah yes, busy summer? Listen to this:

My day so far: tried to leave house to do the "bridge-walking thing with the gals but...flat tire (my car), so I took Mike's (shredded wipers, windows got stuck in down position...), I made it to Ormond, walked bridge. Driving as I left the bridge, turning left onto SR40... total BREAKDOWN! Car kaput!
Cop behind me (of course), pulls me over in Mike's dead car, but gas pedal is a no-go, so i stick my head out and do the "I give up look." He pushed my car out of the turning labe, right into oncoming traffic! into abandoned gas station, then proceeds to tell me I'm getting two tickets (expired registration, brake light out) AHHHH!! :headache: I tell him about my day.........he smiles, backs away from the car, "have a nice day maam." and you guessed it-no tickets. :worship: Call AAA but (again, OF COURSE) membership expired last week! ($185 to renew, fine, done NOW COME GET ME!) So... Mike's car is costing us half of what our vacation costs, my SECOND flat this week was another nail, so fixed free (thank God). now I'm stuck watching Yo Gabba Gabba. Could be worse I suppose-- I could have forgotten to pay the cable bill :rotfl2:

How's your week going???

Happy 4th of July Mom's. Hope you had a wonderful and safe holiday.

Hi there,

I posted awhile back but then life got in the way - between all the girls' activities for the end of the school year and outside of school, my mom wound up spending a week in the hospital, so I spent the time when she got out, driving her to doctor's appointments and helping her out. Then my little girl just turned 5 last week so her birthday party plans kept me busy as well.

I just had a job interview this past week so I'm waiting to hear back from them, I'm really hoping this job comes through! I will try and post more often now that things are a little less hectic! :goodvibes

Look's like we've all been busy. Hope everyone is having a fun summer and not totally melting!

Morning Moms!

We decided to skip church and let the kids sleep in today. It's been quite the weekend in a not-so-great way. This is long so consider yourself warned!

In our house on Saturday mornings we have a routine.
DS10 gets up very early to watch "The best cartoons that aren't on during the week!" I make carmel rolls the night before and get up early to pop them in the oven. DS4 & DD4 sleep in since we let them stay up late the night before. At 7:15 I go pick up the babysitter and she stays with the kids while DH & I clean cabins at a resort at a lake nearby. This is our "vacation money" that we tuck away for WDW. We are always home by 11:30 and we spend the rest of the day hanging out and family stuff.

So, Fri. night I am making the dough in the breadmaker but accidentally made "pizza dough" instead of "sweet roll dough." OK, so we have pizza crust ready for lunch on Sat. But now it's too late to make more dough so no rolls. DS10 has a huge fit because he is our "don't-change-my-routine" kid.
Then I go to pick up the sitter and her dad says she went away for the weekend with a friend. He thought she had talked to me about it. :scared1: uh, NO! How does one find a babysitter at 7:15 on a Sat. morning?? So the kids all come with us which means we had to wake the twins who are very crabby!! Cleaning took us about an hour longer than normal.

We get home and our street is blocked off. WHat??? oh yeah, I almost forgot that our small town (or the local bar, anyway) hosts the POW/MIA motorcycle run every year and they were setting up. So we finally get home and clean up and eat. I think a nap would be an awesome treat right now so the little ones and & I snuggle on my bed. It was short lived as the motorcycles started. Not just a few, but hundreds of them! Last count was 430. Yes, that's a lot of noise. Then they have their program, which even though it's a block away we hear every word, thanks to their high-quality PA system. :headache:
Then the party really starts, including the live band which should have been named "We Cuss Better Than We Sing"

It really is cool to see all the bikes lined up and it is a good cause, I just wish it wasn't so loud and that it didn't continue until the wee hours of the morning. I finally fell asleep about 2am.
Upside is that nobody passed out in our front yard this year. At least if they did they are not still here. And there is only about 2 cases of beer bottles in our yard that I need to pick up.
There is only a couple times a year we think about moving out of town. This is one of them.

I think I'll pack a picnic and we'll go to the lake today. That would be fun!

WHat do all you DISMOMs have planned for the day???

Hi fellow DISMoms!
Hope it's not too late to join this mom's thread! Let me introduce myself:
My name is Dana and I am addicted to all things Disney! My husband is addicted as well as our two children!!!!
I teach 4K and this will be my 22nd year teaching! My husband is an assistant principal at our middle school-I couldn't teach that age if I tried!!!!
Our DD 11 will be going to the middle school this year-pray for her!!!
Our DS 5 will be in 5K this year-I love all of the 5K teachers we have at my school so I'm not worried about who's class he will be in!
We have taken a trip to WDW for the past two years and have a third trip planned for this December!
Here's how bad our addiction is: We live 1 hour from the beach and had never taken our DS 5 to stay at the beach overnight!:rotfl2: We finally felt so guilty we just spent two weeks at the beach!!! Come to find out, our DS 5 hates the sand and the ocean!:confused3 Good thing the resort we were staying in had plenty of pools and it's own water park!
Sad news and bad news this week:
A fellow church member's daughter died from cancer Thursday night. She was only 10 years old and fought a good fight. Please pray for the family. Her funeral is today at 3PM.
Our personal bad news is our air conditioning unit died Friday afternoon sometime while we were shopping in a neighboring town. When we got back home it was almost 90 degrees inside-yes, this is life in rural SC!!!! We just spent a lot of money remodeling our home and now this happens!:scared1: We are staying at my in-laws until at least Tuesday-no one works around here on the weekend!
Thanks for listening and have a great afternoon!:cool1:

Oh WOW girl, that's crazy! I'm so sorry your Saturday got that messed up! Cameran and I are also playing hookie from church today (I wish we had a good reason :rolleyes1 ) anyways... I realized after battling 4 straight days with a migraine, that my stress is coming from a less-than-tidy house, so I spent two hours cleaning and organizing the kitchen (WITH the migraine) yesterday, and felt much much better... so I will continue on this path today and clean the livingroom and bathroom. :thumbsup2 Not very exciting, I know, I'd much rather be having a picnic. Maybe I will just :surfweb: for a few more minutes and live vicariously through others..... :cloud9: Hope you have a MUCH better day today Tinkermom23! :flower3: -Stace (P.S. 14 more days to wait for our first WDW vacay!!!) :dance3:

Hi Dana :welcome: So sorry to hear about your AC! There seems to be quite a few people experiencing this issue in this heat this year! This is for an inexpensive fix pixiedust: (and sooner than later)!

Thanks! We're hoping for an inexpensive fix too!:cool1:

Hey Moms!!! I hope everyone had a great weekend!! Mine was pretty busy, DS's second birthday was Thursday :scared1: (how do I slow down time?!) We had a birthday party for him yesterday with a Toy Story theme and it was a big hit!! There are still a few stray plastic cups and plates that were unused to put away, but I can finish it tomorrow, right?

How was everyone else's weekend??

It's been a hectic couple days, Saturday was mostly running errands in the morning and then staying in and having a lazy day in the afternoon.
Sunday dh took the girls to the park for awhile, and spent the day with them, while I went to a scrapbooking crop for the day :yay:
Today the girls were in camp, so I did a few errands while they were there, went to see my mom for a bit, came home and did a few things here.

Had a job interview last week and they called me tonight, saying I got the job and I start orientation on Thursday morning :thumbsup2

This job could not have come at a better time!

We have had a crazy few weeks and they only promise to get crazier.

Saturday I decided to take my DD for a "spa day." We had a great time. I may have to do this on a regular basis. Hope the DH does not mind. :rotfl2:

This weekend we have a wedding shower and a birthday party. Next week we head to northern Wisconsin for a few days and we will go see some waterfalls. Then my DH and I celebrate our 10 years of wedded bliss, we have decided to do this Disney style on a budget. In other words we will go on a pirate cruise ship that ripped off Pirates of the Caribbean. We have a family reunion coming up and then a trip to Kentucky. Then my DD starts Kindergarten.

We are almost 4 months from our next trip to Disney.

I am a mother to 3 teen girls, & a preK boy, been married to my DH for almost 22 yrs:lovestruc. I am an RN & work the 7pm-7am shift 3 or 4 nights a week. He is the service manager for a residential window company (so we took a financial hit with the economy/real estate crash here in FL). We have not been to Disney since May 2005, except for a bday day trip to Studios last year. Hoping/saving/planning for a week June 2011 when school lets out.:wizard:
