Awww, I m iss those early soccer/softball years. Tink never played (tried the free month of karate with her, but she thought she would be Mulan overnight and didn't last.) Pluto played soccer for years., this is her first year not playing and Ariel playes soccer till last year when she switched to softball. She is playing again this year. Starts next week. Pluto and Ariel are both dancers and that is some cute stuff when they are little! So cute! Tink is an artist. She locks herself in her room and paints and draws. She is actually pretty good but I don't get her stuff. I have asked her to paint me something I would understand but she hasn't yet. I just bought her some new canvases so maybe soon.

So, today was a lousy day. I was doing really good in the morning (minus Pluto and Ariel missing the bus) but midday I screwed up my back and have not moved since. I have been horizontal and on my back since about 2. I got a lot done before then though and thankfully my freezer is stocked with things Grumpy just needed to warm up. He made a mean pot of chili. Then he took Pluto to dance.

I have to get better fast, I have to work tomorrow afternoon and run the band carpool in the morning for Pluto. Grumpy has a 7am meeting across town so he can't even stay to help. Of all the days to be my turn. All I have to do is get through tomorrow though. My preschool closes down both Thursday and Friday for Easter. Tomorrow should be OK, we are just having a little Easter party, the bunny will hide eggs and stuff. I'll have to run Ariel to dance too, Grumpy will bring her home though.

So this morning I was taking the garbage out and the neighbor was too and he told me it was going to be 85 degrees on Friday! I came in and checked, he streched that a bit but it is going to be low 70s and sunny all weekend, or so they are saying. I am excited because I am planning an Egg Hunt for all the Girl Scout troops at our school on Saturday. It is outide so that would be great! I am both Pluto and Ariel's troop leader and was Tink's till her troop stopped. I am also the Brownie coopdinator for our district and the coordinator for the school troops. So, that takes a huge part of my life but the kids enjoy it, so OK. But nice weather always makes things easier!

Alright, I am going to run for now. The school gave Pluto a t-shirt that I ordered that would fit Ariel, maybe. Way too small and not at all the size I ordered so I need to go send an e-mail before they give hers away.

Wow. I clearly need to be more diligent in checking this thing. I work all day and then spend as much time as I can with the kids as I can on the weekends and at night but you girls were on a roll.

I say that too! I hope you didn't think we were saying you should go, if you can, go for it! I can't speak for anyone else but I sure don't think you need to justify your trips. Do I wish we could go more, sure, but I don't begrudge anyone else for going.

As for missing school, I am a bad mommy. I let them miss a few days to make Thanksgiving a little longer. DH can't take more then 5 days off at a time plus can't take time away in summer so we can combine 2 weekends pus the day of Thanksgiving and make those 5 days a little longer.

I think it is great you get to go, have fun, enjoy yourself and more so enjoy your little girls. They aren't litte long (says the mom whose oldest will be able to help drive down on our nest trip.)

I would not call you a bad mom. Every parent makes decisions that they think is best for their kids. Sometimes we get it right and sometimes we don't. My kids are not yet in school but my DD5 starts Kindergarten in the fall and we are taking her out for a week in December. I figure a week won't mean the difference between Ivy League or a State school.

Our big expense is the airfare. We won't even consider driving. I take that back...we consider it but always come to our senses! DS3 is not a very good traveler, doesn't sleep in his carseat for more than an hour and wakes up crying. We drove to Omaha last year, 7 hour drive and it was miserable!

That's what I thought about my DS3 when we drove in October and then again in March. I was sure that both kids were going to have a major issue as neither of them like driving the 2 hours to their Grandmothers house. They both did great on both trips. The DVD players are a Godsend and we kept them interested by giving "gifts" at the state lines. The trip is 1200 miles and we drive it "straight" through.

OH no ~ I didn't think I needed to justify it to you ladies!! No. But I do have to justify it all the time to say... DH's family. He has a brother who is always struggling with finances. His parents are always looking at us sideways because we travel a lot.

We always talk about driving but it is 23 hours if we drive straight through. By the time we figure gas, tolls, eating one the road....potentially stopping and getting a room one night. It ends up not really saving us much. And the girls are still to little to enjoy it.

I have to justify my trips to all of my co-workers. However, over the years they have learned that I always have another trip planned. This time I have my December trip and little do they know but I am also planning October 2011.

I also use to think that the drive would not save us a lot of money but I was wrong when I really sat down and crunched the numbers. The savings was enough that I could afford 2 trips a year.

Just wanted to pop in and say hello! Good to know I am not the only one who hates laundry. To be honest I don't mind the washing and drying. It is the folding and putting away that I hate!

Agreed. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to work all day and then take care of everything else at night.


As for favorite characters I LOVE Eeyore. DH is a Mickey or Grumpy fan DD is a Princess fan and it depends on who she is thinking of at that time but right now it is Tiana. DS is a Buzz and Woody fan.

We also do not go "commando" style. I like that we can take it slow and not stress when we are at the parks. I always feel bad for those parents who are telling their kids that they can't do something because they need to do something else that is on "the list." I feel that people loss the magic of Disney when they make a list for everything. My DD taught me that.

I think your fear of her getting bored is valid b/c the kids in my preschool, and my own daughter, can't do all those things (i.e., count to 100, as an example. She can do it with help but not all by herself. She gets a bit lost in the 30s).

I agree the "helping others learn" route and maybe even asking the teacher for more work or a special project to do would be good if you find her getting bored??

I know Monty gave her a terrific education. We have several in our area and everyone speaks highly of them.

Sue Ellen My daughter started K this year in a similar situation. She was reading, doing basic addition and subtraction, writng short sentences etc. They wanted to test her for gifted and move her up a grade early in the year-I said no to both. She was tested last week for gifted for next year. We have been working with the teacher all year to get her apprpriate work. There is another little girl who is similar-so they are grouped together. As long as you are on top of what is being taught and an advocate for her it will go well.

I laughed when I read this, when my 2 year old started learning to count he would go "1, 2, 3, Mickey Mouse Castle, 2, 1, Mater.....". We would just crack up wondering if he was trying to send us subliminal messages.

My 3 year old has done really well just being in a church preschool 2 mornings a week. I'm amazed at what they teach him and he will go 3 morning next year along with my 2 year old. It will feel weird to have a few hours a morning to myself!

My parents are driving out today from PA to visit for Easter. I know they aren't coming to visit me though it's the grandkids they want to see. It will be a nice break for me at least. So I'll be working from home today as I wait for since it's an 8 hour drive (for them ).

They would like to get on a plane someday, and I am sure they will, but maybe not with us.

Oh boy, I hope I didn't come across as one of those moms. I have seen them and I am not at all like that. We don't even go in with a plan, we prefer to do what we want. Actually last trip we got in at Rope Drop and Tink wanted to GOOOOO ride so she did and we gave her our tickets and she got us some fastpasses. Grumpy, Pluto, Ariel and I went and got a treat at Main Street Bakery and sat and people watched. We like to stay late, but we just do whatever sounds fun at any time. I too feel so bad when you see those families. Can't be much fun at all. We are comando as long as we are having fun is what I should have said. Last trip I was shopping in EPCOT before we were leaving and the kids wanted to go swim. So Grumpy took them back to the hotel and I stayed to finish shopping and then I walked all the way back to Germany to buy him something he saw but said he "didn't need." It was a beer stien with the flag of where he was stationed in the Army. He didn't buy it but was pretty happy to see I did.

Awww, thanks so much. I am better today. I am taking it easy since I have to be crawling around on the floor with a bunch of 3 year olds this afternoon, but I am so much better.

I was a SAHM till this year but this is my first year and I am a preschool aid 2 afternoons a week.

So today I do need to pull ot the Easter basket stuff. I know what I need still is a small chocolate bunny for each (White for Tink, Dark for Pluto and Milk for Ariel) and a Cadbury egg for each and a peanut butter egg for each and some Robins Egg minis those are the basics and I haven't gotten them. But I think other then that I am probably done but I am not positive, I need to see what I have. I might start filling their eggs for thier extra hunt this year. I wanted to get them some pins for trading but didn't want to do it from the bunny since he normally just leaves coins ad candies. So I am doing an extra one later in the day. I bought 50 pins from who I believe (based on research) is a llegit seller on eBay. I am going to put a pin in each egg so they have some for trading. They spent a fortune on them last trip. I got them each a lanyard at Michael's for $1 too. I can see them going nuts when they see what is in them and then trading amongst hemselves. I think that will be fun.

Hello Everyone!

I am back to fill in some of the elements that have been discussed on the recent pages. Our favorites are: DH's are Chip and Dale, Mine are Tigger and Eeyore (I must have a split personality because they are opposites), and Erin loves Pooh Bear and Cinderella!

On our first trip, we had a commando style touring plan but then with buying into DVC we had a welcome change this past trip. We make reservations and plan our park days in advance with how many days tickets we purchased but this year we plan on buying annual passes so that should be a nice change. With that said, in my mind I am also thinking that with the AP's we will sneak in an extra trip next Spring but then again if I am already planning it I guess it won't really be "sneaking in an extra trip"

We did our first trip with my in-laws, my SIL and her children as well as some friends of my DH's family. This past trip we crossed over a few days with all of them and had my Mom plus my brother, his wife and DNiece with us. It's worked for us, we generally do our dinners together and meet up at the park of the day and do rides and shows together. What's nice is that we can split up and take eachother's kids to attractions that they each love but all might not be able to do.

My only sad thought about Disney is that my Dad never got to see what we love so much about it, he passed away suddenly a year ago and was supposed to go with us this past trip. He would have loved being there with his 2 grand-daughters and we thought of him for much of the trip.

This year we will have a couple of days with my in-laws, my Mom will be there for 5 days of the trip and then after that it will just be DH, Erin and I so we will have a real range to our trip and how we will tour.

Some questions I want to throw out there:

How many trips did you take before you felt like a Disney pro? Do you find yourself offering advice to anyone/everyone that says they are going?

Do you have a handful of restaurants that you stick with or do you try new ones every trip?

If you go with your DH to dinner on your own in Disney, where do you recommend? Do you use Kids Nite Out, Fairy Godmothers, the kids Clubs at the resorts, if so what have your experiences been?

Being that my Mom will be there a little longer than my in-laws, do you think I should come up with a reservation for her and Erin to do on their own while DH and I go out? If so what would be fun for just the two of them?

Wow, I guess I had a lot of questions buzzing around in my mind, can't wait to hear your responses.

I went so often as a kid I felt like a pro back then, but then after several years away when we first got married I had to get used to the changes. After one trip back though I was good. Everyone knows I am obsessed so they come to me if they want help. Some poeple don't and that is fine too. I do plan lots of trips for friends though. Last year I helpd to plan 5 I think. And I mean making the reservations, helping with ADRs, the whole thing.

Do you have a handful of restaurants that you stick with or do you try new ones every trip?For us a bit of a mix. We ALAYS do Chef Mickey on our departure day, and we alwyas will. We go for a late seating and fill up before making the 21 hour ride home. We also always do, or did, or do WCC on our arrival night to get us into the spirit of fun. I am not sure we are going to do it this trip though, and that makes me a little sad, becuase if we don't get free QSDP we won't be paying for a bunch of TS meals. We will see. We also have done CRT for breakfast every trip but 2 but again, because this trip is a different one for us, we will be skipping it this year. I think the thing that made the kids and Grumpy for that matter want to not do the DDP this time is how much waiting we did last trip. It was kind of crazy. We waited almost 2 hours past our ADR time at 50sPTC. We hurried and ate and didn't even get dessert because we wasted so much of the day. So, because of that and a few otehr long waits )though not nearly that bad) they asked if this trip we could just do QSDP. So, that is what we will likely do this trip. It is what we have booked as of now. There are sone QSDP we love that we will go to a few times, we LOVE WPE, and Cosmic Rays and Flametree.

If you go with your DH to dinner on your own in Disney, where do you recommend? Do you use Kids Nite Out, Fairy Godmothers, the kids Clubs at the resorts, if so what have your experiences been? We have the grandparents, so no experience with those, sorry. Grumpy and I went to celebrate a belated 15th anniversary (since our 15th was spent on a soccer field) at Cali Grill. We personally were disapointed with the food, but the view was amazing and worth it once for that IMO. Other people seem to love the food so maybe we hit an off night. It was a one time thing for us, we did it since we got Free Dining. The fireworks were great to see though.

Hey everybody! I'm a little late to the game but I hope you'll still let me play.

Let me start by introducing our wild and wacky family. We live in West Monroe, Louisiana which is over 800 miles away from the most Magical Place on Earth. That doesn't stop us from making the yearly trek though.

There's me, Lisa. I'm 44 years old and have been working in the legal field for over 26 years now. Yes, I started out as just a babe out of high school. I've been a paralegal for too many years to count. Don't believe everything you see on television....the legal business is not as glamorous as they make it seem. I often say I want to be something else when I grow up but I've got too many years invested to start over now. I suffer from Bell's Palsy which is not debilitating but it's irritating to say the least. When I'm really really tired one side of my face doesn't quite "smile" like the other side and one of my eyes squenches a little tighter than the other. Bell's Palsy can also make you have frequent headaches.

I love to plan Disney trips, talk about Disney, type about Disney, read about Disney. Well, you get the drift. I love Disney! I am referred to as the unofficial Disney trip planner and have helped friends and family book at least a dozen or so trips to Walt Disney World.

I like hosting get-togethers and my house seems to be the "happening" place for birthday parties, anniversaries, etc. I used to do childrens' birthday parties. I'd put together all of the activities and then go to people's houses and do everything for them. I did that on weekends for several years until I had Hunter and had to stop. Let's see what other talents do I have? Hum.....I type real fast!

There's my husband and soulmate, John. He's also 44 years old and owns a cabinet and custom furniture shop. The shop is located right behind our log house which is super convenient for him. We have found that even though new house construction has slowed down a lot, many people are remodeling their existing homes so John's been kept pretty busy even with the economy the way it is. John suffers from epilepsy and takes a lot of meds but hasn't had a real seizure in years. Thanks to the Lord above!

John is a preacher's kid. Yes, that means he was a little rebellious when I met him at the ripe old age of 18. But, I convinced him that all that rebellious stuff was just a bunch of horse malarky and after just two dates he asked me to marry him. We started dating the end of December, 1983 and were married in August, 1984. We would have married sooner but my mother made my wedding dress and had to have that much time to get it done.

Next up are our gorgeous, fabulous, smart, multi-talented children. Yes, I am a bragging Mama and won't apologize for it no matter how much you try to make me.

Lacey is our 22 year old daughter. Her first trip to Disney was at the ripe old age of 11. She attends a missionary college in Cleveland, Georgia called Mission Georgia Master's Commission. It's a discipleship program. She has attended for three years now and works her skinny little behind off. Not only does she take college classes but she also works in an Atlanta shelter/soup kitchen, volunteers her time with a baseball team for the mentally/physically handicapped, leads children's church and a whole lot more.

Because of all the work Lacey does, we usually only see her two or three times a year which is hard for us. I mean, that's my baby.

Her talents include playing the guitar, singing, dancing, wrangling children's church kids and can lick her elbow! Yes, lick her elbow....they say it's impossible but, believe me, I've seen her do it. I even have a picture somewhere.

Then, there's our 12 year old son, Hunter. He likes to remind us that he is a pre-teen, soon to be teenager and will be driving in 3 years. Hunter's first trip to Disney was when he was just 1. He actually celebrated his first birthday with Mickey Mouse and took his first five consecutive steps on Main Street USA. He is my fellow Disney fantatic. He loves to help plan where to stay, what to eat, what parks to go to first, etc.

Hunter is a budding artist, sings in the honor choir, plays guitar and viola, is getting pretty darn good at magic tricks/illusions and plays several positions on his Tackle II football team. He loves his game systems....Playstation 2, PSP and the newest, a Nintendo DSi. He is a jokester just like his Daddy.

Whew! You can see by now that I am a detail person and like to chit chat!

Today is a better day. Last week I had a tooth pulled and ended up with dry socket. This morning the dentist packed it with some stuff that smells/tastes terrible but feels fantastic! Seriously, within 10 minutes all the pain was gone! Now I just need to go back every day to get it repacked.... uggh, that's a budget buster since the dentist is an hour drive, each way! grrr.

So, on the subject of eating at WDW. (I love that subject!)
We loved Boma and vowed to eat there every trip! We also really like the Safari breakfast at Tusker House. OK, I LOVED the coffee and juice, the food wasn't bad either!
I spent a lot of time reading the Dining threads and hope to try some new things this trip.

Anyone else wanna talk about their favorite yummies they must have??

5 minutes here, 5 minutes there...I often reward myself with 5 or 10 minutes on DIS for things like get the dishes put away, get 5 minutes. Right now I am giving myself 5 minutes for taking Ariel to dance. Sad, but true, then I will give myself some time fter making dinner.

KAKI GORI is the most refreshing, yummy treat. It is in Japan at a little stand. It is on the order of a snowcone, but the shavings are different and the flavors are so good. Soooo full of flavor. The flavors are honeydew, tangarine and strawberry or all 3 which is what I get! Just such good flavor and so cool and refreshing. Oh I want one so bad! I am not a snowcone fan but these I could eat all day. It is more of a snow then ice almost. Hard to explain but you must try. And get your own, you won't regret it. I will never make that mistake again.
