I love the quote in your siggy! And it's great to quote the women behind the famous people. :rolleyes1

Do you love that your extended family are also Disney Nuts? My inlaws invited us to join them in Cancun this year but without kids. They never travel with their kids and we never do anything without ours, so of course we said we were doing Disney again. They can't understand why we'd pick Disney with the kids over Cancun without kids??

Thanks (about the siggy)! Yes, I do love that my family are almost all Disney Nuts! We always coordinate Disney plans with my parents and brother. Hopefully my other brother and sister in law can go this year too. Looks like several cousins will be there as well. If that's not enough one of my dear friends will be there during the latter part of our trip too! The more the merrier!!!

I agree with you about going to Disney childless! DH and I went on our honeymoon and an anniversary trip, which was wonderful, but kids make it better for us. We never take a trip without them, with the exception of our 10th Anniversary getaway, which was five years ago. I love experiencing everything all over again through their eyes! Don't you? BTW, I'd choose Disney over Cancun any day, with or without kids. Besides, Epcot's WS has all the Mexico I'll ever need to see!

Hi my name is Jeanne and my husband is Chad. We have been married 13 years (met in high school - together ever since). We have one beautiful daughter Piper (2). She is our joy. As far as Disney all of us are addicted.

Actually we never went to Disney growing up. I had to travel for work in 2005 (I think - I'll need to research that and add it to my signature:thumbsup2). My boss told me 'why don't you take a couple extra days and go to DisneyLand'... Thats all it took... I was hooked. I think I have averaged at least once a year. My first visit to WDW was December 2007 (when my daughter was 5 months old).

My daughter loves the princesses princess: and Pirates pirate:. She LOVES rides. She told me 'mommy I want to ride the rollercoaster'. She has already rode barnstomer and I think she is tall enough to ride others (I'm a bit nervious lol). She hit the 41 inch mark...so we will see how our April trip goes.

My husband is a huge Nightmare Before Christmas fan, and I like Aladdin.

I think thats it for now. Thanks for starting this thread up!!! :dance3:

I think I will just stay here in this thread. There are some mean people out there.

I love going with my kids. I also love the way we as a family travel and do it so stress free. I have always felt like adding more people added more stress!! I guess that comes from wanting to make sure everyone else is having a good time. I feel responsible for other peoples fun and really shouldn't.

Maybe if they were also true Disney nuts and already had their own touring style that would be good. :)

I wish I wanted to travel in a bigger group some my girls might have some "friends" (really cousins) to hang with. But since all the rest of the family is all .... phft Disney ~ it just seems like a stressful adventure to me!!

Samar - Where in NJ are you from? We are originally from NJ also! I grew up in Northern NJ, but we lived in Hamilton Square (Princeton area) for 5 years before moving to Ohio. We also own a timeshaer (not DVC, but Hilton). We used our timeshare this year and exchanged into DVC this year :cool1:

Yeah, some people think we're crazy for going twice in one year...these are also people who have never gone to Disney before :rotfl: Don't knock it until you try it people!!

Right now we're in Central NJ. I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA :)

Kamp Kim, I will GASP with you! :scared1: Then again, DH is from India so he didn't really grow up with The Mouse. :headache:

***Touring style~ If I could be, it'd be commando however with little kids, I have learned to be flexible. lol I have ZERO ADR's and I'm totally bummed about it. DH just wants to wing it and walk into a TS restaurant  Yeahhhhhhh, peak season isn't exactly the time you just wing it, buddy

My fave Disney character is Belle :goodvibes Bookish and classicly beautiful.

DH's is Tinkerbelle because she's scantily dressed :headache: Pure man, I tell ya.

DS's is Buzz.

DD #1's is Ariel and Jesse.

DD #2 likes whatever I tell her to so far :cutie:

A friend of mine makes custom bows and clips and she made the girls Mickey Head clippies for our trip! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to see them!

We didn't do much today. The kids had Sunday school and my son won a runner-up trophy for a poster contest :cloud9: He also had a ton of makeup homework for being sick for 4 days last week.

Right now we're in Central NJ. I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA :)

Before we moved to Ohio we lived in Cranberry Township. I miss the Pittsburgh area - but thankfully we are only 2 hours away - so I can get back often.

DD #2 likes whatever I tell her to so far :cutie:

Man do I miss those days!! Well with DD1 ~ DD2 was strong willed from the second she was taken "out the sunroof" as my DH says. :rotfl:

DD1 ~ I could convince to do anything! And then she turned 4. Now she is all opinionated. She's a liberal too ~ told my mother that if she wants to marry her friend Hannah ~ she was gonna marry her friend Hannah ~ because it is MY choice you know!

This after my mother merely "suggested" that when she got older she "might" want to marry a boy. :lmao: I swear I have no idea where she comes up with this stuff.

Going to Disney without kids... DH and I did this a year ago and all we talked about was the kids. We had a good time, but really its so much better with the kids! I don't think we'll do it without them anytime soon.

Like I said before, not sure I am going to be able to keep up, but I am going to try. I didn't get on yesterday. Hubby and I took the younger 2 to Breakfast with the Bunny then he and I went to the movies and to the movies, by the time I got home I was in Sunday evening mods. Showers, packing bookbags, that sort of thing and then I fell asleep on the couch! Missed Desperate Housewives too. Anyway, I just put a load of laundry in so I am working, right?

So first thing that I am remembering is favorite characters. I will also start with this to name my family. I don't share names online just in case. My BIO father has tried to find out about my kids and I don['t want that to happen. Not that he is a Disney fan, I have no idea, but you never know. So I will refer to all of us by our favorite character if that is OK. My favorite is Mickey and Minnie, so I will go by Minnie. My Hubby loves Grumpy, which is funny because he is the exact opposite of Grumpy so please, when I call him Grumpy, don't assume we are arguing or I am upset with him. :rotfl: My oldest is being a teenager lately. She has decided to hate everything. But her favorite was always Tink and she still has Tink all over her room so we will go with that. Middle DD, too easy! PLUTO! She is totally obsessed with that poor dog. She's practically a stalker! And my baby, well, without saying too much, I will say that her first and middle name are that of Ariel and one of her sisters so needless to say, she is all about Ariel and the mermaids. Both my younger 2, however, have not met a character they didn't love. :lovestruc

Traveling with extended family. My grandparents raised me and raised me to be a Disney nut. My first tripwas before I turend a year old and went at least every other year. They kept going when Grumpy and I got married though we couldn't afford to go. When Tink was turning 3 they were advertising the 25 b-day all the time and I wanted to bad to see the castle cake. (I was one of the few who loved it. I wouldn't want it forever but loved to see it for the celebration.) A few months before her b-day I won a trip to England. It was a 4 day trip for 2 and we had a toddler so we asked if there was a cash buyout. There technically wasn't but I guess someone at the station was willing to give me $1000 for it so I took it and Grumpy said if I could do it for that or close to it we could go. I am very, let's say "frugal" so I did it aand then some. We asked my grandparents to go and they were on board. We stayed at SoG (Grumpy was in the Army and is out on disability) so we split a room there and was able to save the extra money for extras. Grumpy had never been on vacation before so this was all new to him, this was our first trip as a family anywhere. Tink had the most amazing time. It was truly magical. We decided we would attempt to go again in 2 years. By the next year my grandparents wanted to go again. Grumpy had started a new job and couldn't go but told us to go. I missed him terrible and I was expecting Pluto plus was recovering from an accident and had to spend my days in the park in a wheelchair, plus we went with my aunt and 2 cousins and stayed off property so it wasn't the magical trui[ we had a year before but was still great! The next year we went alone, grandpa had something at work and couldn't go. We missed them so much , but we had a great time. It was Plutos first trip and when she fell in love with Pluto. Since then though we have never gone without my grandparents. They truly love it as much as us and we loe having them with us. PLUS, we now have 5 people so we need another room anyway, they put ur oldest in their room, she loves the break from her sisters and adores my grandparents (despiit being a teenager.) So, we always go as a group of 7, but we love it. We also have time away from each otehr when they do their own thing. They take Tink all the time which is great because as much as I love her, I'd go crazy without a break from her (I know it will pass, can't happen soon enough!)

So, our touring type. I myself am the comando type. We only get one vacation every 2 years and we save like crazy for it so I want to do all I can. I do admire people who take it easy and I have tried, but in the end I never can do it. I think if we did get there more I could though. Tink used to be like that, but the last trip she decided to start being very teenager like. She goes back to the room daily with grandma and grandpa for a break. Grandpa only goes back to be with grandma and she only was going back because of knee pain, but she got a knee replacement last month so she may not want to go back. We will see. She will be 16 I may let her go back on her own, not sure aout that. Anyway, Tink likes to take it easy. Grumpy likes to make me happy, so while he could totally do without Rope Drop and EMH, he's a trooper for the first half of the week, but by the end he takes a midday break too, and that's fine with me. Pluto and Ariel are their momma's girls. They went from Rope Drop to PMEMH daily. And not cranky either. They loved every minute of it. We took time during the day to relax at the parks. Last trip on our last day we had an early breakfst at CRT then it was EMH to 2am. Grumpy said no way were they going to be there that long they would be miserable. He said I could stay but he'd take them back for a nap. They begged him to let them stay and promised to take a nap at the park. They did too. We got Dole Whip floats for a snack and found a spot for the parade and they ate then took a nap in my lap for about an hour. They were goot to go till 2am that day. He went bak and took a nap and did some work then came back expecting to take 2 cranky girls back to the room but we had a great night together after that.

BTW, yes I said work. Grumpy is required to answer all calls that includes when on vacation (no less then a dozen a day even though they all know he is away) and work like 3 hours from the room. He has a good job and we are lucky but he is not allowed to be away from his phone ever and has to have his laptop everywhere we go. :sad2:

We do, however, schedule a couple days off while we are at Disney so those days are relaxing. The kids swim, we do the laundry, we go shopping, whatever.

As for ADRs. The last few trips we have had free dining. Every meal was scheduled and I loved that. The family loved the meals too, but IF we get free dining this year it will be QSDP. We thought about upgrading but now that the kids are getting older, they want more play time and so they said they didn't care about any meals but one. We have done CM for breakfast every trip and we always will. We do it on our departure day before we head home. So this trip is going to be a little different but I am excited to see how it changes things. It may make it more relaxing since we will have more time. The kids are excited. I told them we wouldn't be doing CM for Thanksgiving dinner like we have for years, I am sad about that but they want to eat poolside at ASMu and watch a movie while they swim, so, OK, that is the plan. It will be a different trip then the last several, but I am ready to see how it goes.

Not sure if I missed anything. Probably did but I have typed enough, and if anyone is still reading I am sure thye are wishing I would stop already so, I am going to go for now. Have a good day everyone...

Kamp Kim, I will GASP with you! :scared1: Then again, DH is from India so he didn't really grow up with The Mouse. :headache:

DH is from India, huh. I guess that's good enough excuse. After enough memories of the kids at WDW, he'll come around. I've seen it happen!:cheer2:
I'm home with two little sickies today. (Although it's starting to look like they could've gone to school after all.) Oh well, there goes my alone time!

Wow! Consider yourself caught up!:rotfl2: Just joking.:flower3:
I am the commando type too. At least when we have a crowd wanting to do several different things, but not wanting to be apart. Last year, after being dubbed the "Whip Master" the year before, I suggested that I would not be the leader anymore. The response was "What! No! But...but...you have to! " So the Whip Master lives on! We stay at Fort Wilderness which allows us a longer stay, so when the extended family is gone, we do slow it down a bit!. I have a S/N child so we have to decompress sometime. Have a Magical Day everyone!!:wizard:

SueEllen: Don't be afraid to venture out to other threads. I have found more nice folks than meanies, but you're right, there are some meanies out there!

we had swim lessons this morning for the little one. Traveling in to the Pedis for a consult on my oldest blood sugar levels. Then gotta hit target because I didn't go yesterday.

We have now saving some Target money by not needing Diapers and Wipes!! Woot!

Then home to make dinner and do some laundry. Again. Man I hate laundry.

Will check in later!

I am like MICKEYMOMOF3 and that I would prefer commando, unfortunately DH is the same on vacation as he is at home... easy going. (I won't say lazy, just not overly ambitious) He works really hard all week and nights and weekends are his time to hang out with the kids and relax.
Last trip we had park tickets for each day but mid week decided to skip parks and hang out at the pool and do DTD, laundry, relax... I could deal with it although my frugal-instincts reminded me that we were WASTING a whole park day! Ok, I got over it. :rolleyes1

Oh, and favorite characters...
I love Minnie, but she has to be in the red dress, for some reason I feel like the pink polka dots are not really Minnie!

DH, not really sure. He likes the OLD, original Disney stuff. But I dare call him Vintage Mickey, maybe Classic?

DS10 was all about POTC but last year renewed his love for Stitch. He (and all of us) love Phineas & Ferb too.

DS3 flips between Cars, Buzz & Woody, & Wall-e. Although it's hard to find Wall-e stuff anymore so I think it is fading out.

Dd3 is all Princess. She refused to wear any color but pink until one day I said she'd looked like Belle in her yellow dress. Now all colors relate to a Princess. Only problem with that is Tinkerbelle and Tiana fight over who is really green! :rotfl2:

I am with you on the laundry. I used to do a load or 2 a day and never got behind. Now our weeks are so buys I reserve Monday as laundry day. I do like 15 loads. Like I needed another reason to hate Mondays! I do it allcday long, and the hope is to be done by the time everyone gets home but that depends on how my dryer acts on any given day. It is almost 17 years old and temprimental! I just hate it, it's never ending!

Okay, I'm several days behind but I'll try to just jump on in there..

Favorite characters.. Easy!

Husband's - Stitch. He absolutely loves Stitch. For some reason he can relate to Stitch more than anyone else. I think it's that mischievous side to him.

Son (14) - Buzz and Woody. He can't decide between the two. I love that even though he is now a teenager he still has that Disney spirit. He loves to get autographs and take pictures with the characters. :thumbsup2

Daughter (1) - Well.. That's kind of hard since she doesn't really talk, but judging by her behavior while we were there last month.. Mickey and Pluto. :goodvibes It was so cute watching her try to hug them. She was so excited to see them.

Me - Mickey! I love Mickey! Every time I see Mickey in the parks for the first time, I get all teary eyed. Silly, I know.. But so true. Other than the big cheese himself, I'm an Eeyore girl. :)

Can't wait to see what the new baby's choice will be! :goodvibes Should be exciting!

Hello Ladies

Thought I would jump in and say hi! Glad to see some of you on the MAYhem thread.

I'm Mary-almost 40 :scared1: love everything Disney. I work part time at DD's preschool and drive my kiddos all around to their various activities-no soccer though :)

Hubby Jeff, works for Kona Grill in corporate finance. Say he does not especailly like Disney-but I know better :) He also gripes about the cost before we go but then spends like there is no tomorrow-last year it was pins....

Avery will be 6 on Sat-where did the time go?? Started K this year-is doing so well they tested her for gifted for next year. She is beautiful, smart, athletic-a great kid! Favorite characters Ariel, Belle and Pocahantus. She is also a "foodie" and does not eat meat....

Cayley is 3.5 and we call her the "Hurricane" casue when she blows through you know it :rolleyes1 She is full of opinions and fire. She is also very smart and super cute. She also is a big Mommy fan. Favorite characters "I like all the DIsney characters at Disney World" Last yr was not a fan of Tigger.

We recently bought DVC at AKV Kidani. We have only been to WDW once but since we now have DVC I do not feel the need to be so comando. Since we deal with a 3 hour time difference we start the week with late nights then switch to early am's. We are doing Dx dining this time so A can share with me and we can have dessert for bkfst!!!

Glad to meet everyone! Spring Break starts today!!

I don't share names online just in case. My BIO father has tried to find out about my kids and I don['t want that to happen.

My grandparents raised me and raised me to be a Disney nut.

Wow are we from the same family?? Similar life story for me, although when I worked at NASA I had to have my info on line and was found so we now deal with that and I don't have to be as careful thankfully.

I'm with Suellen on hating laundry! I have twin toddler boys in cloth diapers so I feel like the laundry NEVER ends.:laundy:

Laundry.. It's the one chore I don't mind. I tell my son it's because it's one chore that doesn't smell bad.. Like taking out the garbage. :rotfl2: I don't even want to begin to think about how much laundry I do in a week, I just do it and try not to worry about it.

Good morning,

Helped out at library this morning at my younger sons school. Now I need to get my grocery list together and get to the store.

We have a pretty laid back attitude at the park. We are up in the morning and go. We usually come back to the room in the afternoon for a rest/swim and then back out for dinner. I do make ADR's. I am one of those crazy people who was happy that it switched back to 180 days. I love planning our meals.

Kristi

A Big WELCOME to all the new ladies!

I'm with all of you and I HATE laundry... But I'm still doing it today and I'll probably be doing it tomorrow. :rotfl:

I've decided that I'm going to try and surprise the kids with the trip in May! We tried to do it for our Feb. trip, and really had the kids thinking we were going to Ohio (no offense to those from/ living in Ohio:hug:). DH blew it right before we got into the van!:rolleyes1 So, I want to try again.

I've gotten an ADR for CP on 5/29 for 8:20am, this is for DD11. She asks to go every trip, and since her birthday is in late April, I thought we should celebrate her birthday while we're there. It has just seemed to work that we were able to celebrate DS11's when we were there in Nov, mine in Feb, and with the July trip DH's, DS2, and DD4. But now DD11 can celebrate her's too!:cheer2:

Good afternoon!!

I just got home from work, so I had some catching up to do! I'm a paralegal for a pharmaceutical marketing company and I work part-time from home as well as part-time in the office so when I'm at the office I don't get online for personal stuff at all. I love the job since I can make my own hours and work at night when the kids are in bed and spend afternoons or whole days with them if we aren't busy :cool1:

Anyway, I guess I didn't say who MY and DH's favorite characters are. Mine is Mickey hands down! I have always loved him. DH's is Tigger.

Oh and I HATE HATE HATE laundry! I'd rather get gnawed to death by little kittens than do it :lmao: I don't know why, I like to clean and will do everything else in the house, but laundry :scared1:
