Dis Mom's Club?

oh Man I have not even thought about easter baskets yet, how did easter come up so quickly? I had all these plans of getting things we need for our trip to Hawaii and WDW in their easter baskets - not going to happen.

I did get the boys laundry caught up but have not touched our laundry yet and it's piling up. The boys woke up this morning at 6:30 AM - they didn't got to bed until 9 and they were not supposed to get up till at least 8 arrggghhh. Also we live in Cali but it SNOWED last night - come on now.

I've thought about the Easter Basket .... but alas, that's all I've done, too. Luckily I have a bunch of little gifts leftover from Christmas that I didn't give my girls that will fit in a basket.

Still have to get candy to fill the easter baskets too.

Where does the time go??

I still haven't finished the Easter baskets... Ok, so I haven't even bought the baskets yet. Never made it out without the kids today. I'm going to try to get out tomorrow once DH is home, but it may end up waiting till Saturday. And we teach our kids not to procrastinate. :rotfl:

Tinkermom, you are so right about the coats. I usually wait so long to do them just to be sure, but I am more sick of them then usual this year for some reason.

So my baskets are done. I stopped tonight and got new socks so I am now done. We use the same baskets every year, the kids put them out the night before and the bunny finds them and hides them and they have to follow clues to get them. I have to wait to fill my eggs for the kids because I am using ever egg I had in addition to the 400 I bought for our egg hunt. I will be having the kids turn in their eggs for their treat bags so that we can use them again for next year. Save on troop funds that way. Then I will get my eggs back and get to fill mine. I will do the coins and candies in the ones from the bunny and the pins for trading in the eggs from us.

So we had fun at CEC tonight. It was crazy busy, the kids had a blast with all their friends. After I stopped and got the New moon for $1 after getting the coupon here on DIS!

Tomorrow the kids have off, I am going to start the day at the eye doctor with Ariel. For some insane reason I made the appointment for 8:15 on a day off! Not sure what was going through my head there. We may decide to color eggs tomorrow. DH will be at work but he's OK with not doing it after all these years. Not like when they were little and it was so cute. Not sure what else we will do. It was 75 today and supposed to be all weekend so maybe an afternoon at the park would be nice. We'll see.

Well, have a great night everyone, I am going to run...

Hey ladies!!

Wow!! Today was crazy, flew to Philly, did a closing for a client, flew home, now I'm exhausted :upsidedow

Tomorrow I have to run to the store and get eggs to dye and finish getting stuff for the boys baskets and our egg hunt and oh yeah I should probably get Easter dinner too, huh?

What a week.

I'll be back on sometime tomorrow to check in, but I have to get to bed, I had a 12 hours work day (including flying time) so I'm beat!

Hey, have room for one more mom?!

My name is Angela, my husband Darin and I live in East TN and are parents to two boys Connor is 10 and Ben is 7. I am the Disney freak, it started with our first trip about 4 years ago and of course I HAD to research a new destination and I was hooked! My dh has a love for Disney also although not as obsessive as mine!

I am currently in school to get my 2 year degree in Paralegal Studies (Shout out to Lisa who I saw earlier in the thread is a paralegal!). I've been a stay at home mom for the last 10 years so it's been an adjustment going back to school even if I'm only taking 2 classes right now! I am enjoying it, but it stinks that my holidays don't line up with the kids holidays. :confused3

We are going back to Disney in May picking the kids up on their last day of school and surprising them with the news and driving onto Florida. It's been hard to keep my mouth shut but the look on their faces will be priceless!!:wizard:

Welcome Angela!! I'm a paralegal also!! Good luck!

Also going to Disney in May, I think we'll be there the same time, we are going the last 2 weeks in May.

Sorry I have been missing! :) This weekend is crazy busy ~ we have Easter dinner for 19 at my house.

Plus the rental house we have had water in the basement and we are storing all their stuff in my libray. UGH! I so don't have the space for it right now. Plus all there stuff smells like cat... and now wet cat as it is a little damp. It's bad enough my house usually smells like dog ~ now it smells like cat-dog.

Anyway ~ we have swimming lessons today and then cleaning what I can of my re-arranged house!

I hope to catch up on posts this weekend!

I'd love to hear about being a paralegal from someone who is already doing it. You'll have to share sometime!

Wow 2 weeks at Disney, I'm jealous! We will be there May 22-29th, maybe we'll cross paths while we're there. In all the time we've gone to Disney I've never met anyone from the DIS at Disney World. I did run into someone off the TGM boards though and that was fun!

Up early this morning even though the kids on spring break BECAUSE our smoke detector has a low battery! I heard it around 4am but was able to go back to sleep, I must stop that chirping before I lose it!

Yep, we'll be there until the 29th as well! Maybe we will pass each other.

Let me know what you'd like to know about being a paralegal and we can talk. Feel free to PM me so we don't junk up this message with it ;)

Sorry about the smoke detectors, I hate when they chirp because of the batteries.

Welcome Patrice and all the new moms who came so fast together that I lost count and didn't get to say hi. :thumbsup2 The more moms the more fun.

So today was kind of one of those days. I took Ariel to the eye doctor this morning. Her wandering eye is getting worse (I could have told you that without the $60 co pay) but anyway, she is now in phase 2 of trying to correct it. That is patching her bad eye for 3 hours then patching her good eye for 3 hours every day alternating. She needs to do it for 3 hours a day, so not too bad. I really hope this works since phase 3 is surgery. It was scary hearing them say that. I really hope this pacthing works. Anyone have experience with this? Good outcomes to share?

Then we came home and played and it was nice. But I got hot so I came in and watched them from inside and didn't I sign on to Facebook and I had a friend request. It was my bio-father's youngest daugter. UGGG, I just mentioned them on here what 2 days ago, 3 maybe.

This is not the first contact from her. The last came at Christmastime 2008 and before that was Thanksgiving 2006. I remember because both times were right when we got home from Disney, one time it was waiting when we got home and the other was a couple weeks later. I feel bad for her that she wants to know all her father's children (from my understanding there are 9 all together) but it is not something I want to be a part of. Grumpy has tried to tell them that I am sorry, I don't wish any of them harm, but to start in my 30 meeting all them is just not something I have in me. I was hurt too badly and can't get over it. Anyway, I hate that they do it at the holidays. I get that then is when she thinks of family, I understand since I have no family and this time of year wonder what it would have been like to have had one, but I just can't do it. I was hurt too bad. So anyway, coming in to that made the day go sour again.

And I didn't get picked for the Disney Mom's Club In Home Celebration this year. I did last year so I can't complain but it just added to the day. I'm not really that upset but I don't think I would have been upset at all on any other day.

On a good note, the girls and I made peanut butter playdough today. Has anyone ever had that at the Coral Reef? My kids loved it so we make it from time to time. Since I had all the ingredients and I needed a Disney Pick Me Up, we made some. We also decorated eggs. We usually do it on Easter but today seemed like a good day so we did it. There was one issue there too that got to me, but I got over it. Another "any other day it wouldhave been nothing" things.

Our fridge has been freezing things for several months. We need a new one but I am not there yet. Well I bolied the eggs as I always do but half way through coloring them Pluto dropped one and it cracked and it was softboiled! They must have gotten too cold and so they had to come to a normal temp first so they didn't cool all the way. I reboiled them but they all cracked. 3 dozen craked eggs. They are fine to eat but wern't pretty to color so I used my last dozen to cook and cooked longer and thankfully we have a dozen pretty eggs and 3 dozen less them pretty but still colorful eggs. :rotfl2:

So, all was well when Grumpy came home an d wrapped his arms around me and all was well again. Tink is at her friend's tonight so the 4 of us are going to hang out and relax and rest up for a "way too filled but it will be fun" tomorrow.

We have the Town Egg Hunt at 10am. It is fun and Ariel's last year she can go becuase it is only up to age 8. So we will take her there. Then we are going to Adventure Landing for their egg hunt at 11. After that we will go to Michael's for free craft day and Home Depot to build butterfly houses then run home for some lunch (or I may break down and have a bite out) then our BIG egg hunt is at 3 so I want to get there by 2 to get all the eggs out. After that we are going to bring the kids home and Grumpy and I are going on our date. Not sure what we are doing yet, but a date somewhere.

Yep, tomorrow will be a busy day but so much fun I know. Looking forward to it.

Tonight I am looking forward to the new Wife Swap. I don't know why but I like that show and since we have nothing going on tonight I am happy to sit back and watch.

Sorry it was so long, if yo uare still reading thanks for listening. And if you have any experience with kids and wandering eye/eye surgery let me know. Thanks!

Sorry you had such a hard day. Tomorrow will definitely be better!!!:yay:

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

Yeah, tomorrow will be great, I know it! :yay: Thank You.

The recipe is super easy. It is~
1 C Peanut Butter
1 C Light Corn Syrup
1 C Powdered Sugar
Mix then kneed in
up to 3 C Powdered Milk (about 2 and a half feels right to me.) Kneed this in till it feels like playdough. It used to be a dessert for kids at the Coral Reef, it was a ball of it with cookie ears to look like Mickey. Not sure if it is still there, we haven't been for like 4 years. My kids love it (it is pretty yummy) and it is fun to make and play with.

Have fun with it! Have a good Easter to you, too.

Hope everyone got this baskets shopped for. If not there's always tomorrow.

I'm sorry about that for you. I don't know the whole story but I can relate in a way. I was in my early 30's when I found out my dad had another daughter who was about 3 years older than me. We've met, she came and stayed with us and we got along great. She lives across the country and doesn't like talking on the phone much so our relationship has stalled. It's hard to try and connect that way on a family level when you're older.

Glad you're day turned out great in the end and sounds like tomorrow will be awesome! I need to take my kids to home depot, we always think about it and it NEVER happens!

On a good note for me today I went to see a college tennis game today and just hang out with a few friends and get some sun. Unfortunately for me I got way too much sun, so I'm feeling the burn!!:scared1:

Home Depot is so much fun and FREE. My kids have built so many things. They will often paint them and give them to the grandparents for gifts. They have gotten bird houses, plastic grocery bag holders, trays, bookends. They love to go. Definitely try when you can.

Feels wird to have to worry about the sun already, huh? My DH played tennis after work today and when he came home I said he was red. Sure enough by tonight, he is RED. Hope you feel better, use some Aloe! :thumbsup2

I do feel bad for the girl. I just can't do it. I know what happened isn't her fault but I just don't have it in me. It is hard, thanks for sharing your experience. I am sure that was hard to find out.

Its so great to see we're still collecting new moms!:cool1: Must thank Suellen for starting this thread! :worship: I'm surprised no one has thought of it before...

MickeyMom~ I'm sorry you had a rough day. I hope everything works out for your DD! And listening is what we're here for!:surfweb: Thank you for the peanut butter play dough recipe! I can't wait to try it with DS2 and DD4.

Mommyintn~ I feel your pain. I got way to much sun today and DH is teasing me that I'm going to be a lobster for Easter!:headache:

Again, I'm not off to a great start on my "no buy" month, but I got a great deal at Walmart today, one I just couldn't pass up. :rotfl:
