brrrrr Annie. Looks very pretty and very cold. And I was laughing about our 41 degrees this morning (either that or complain). We may hit 70 today - woo-hoo almost back to SD normal weather.

not much going on here. Re-entry into school has been a little rocky. Seems like no one wants to do homework. Hmmm...

2 hour delay here. :headache: We had snow, turn to ice, to freezing rain...I think its a mix of freezing rain and rain now. What a mess. AND ITS NOT PRETTY! :lmao: I'd rather look at mud outside here than white (yes, I despise winter if you didnt know ;)).

it is 82 here right now..but we are getting a cold front tonight and will only have a high of 72 tomorrow

oh I have that fight!!

"Where is your jacket"
Im not COLLLD!!!

:lmao: I have an idea! Pack her up & send her up here for a week! She'll change her tune after she spends a week in my house!! :rotfl:

(As I sit here wearing a lightweight fleece shirt topped with a sweatshirt and then a down vest!! Long johns under my jeans with a fleece blanket over my lap...and I've recently bumped up to wearing my boots inside 'cuz 2 pair of wool socks wasn't cutting it & they were stretchin' out my slippers and of course, finally there's the all important fingertipless gloves!:rolleyes1 I have a spare pair I can loan her or she can probably borrow DS's.)

Just heard on the news that Maryland came out #1 on the standardized test scores...Katie - MA was #2!! :woohoo:

Oh hush Poopsie!
Poopsie. I love it! We never did get above 63 but the sun was out so it's all good.

do any of the peeps have cable phone service? Trying to decide if it's a good idea or not... if there's an earthquake and the cable goes down ...

 Saving us from page 2! We were in the last spot on page 1 this morning!

Sigh. Well, guess I ain't gonna hear back from the Coca Cola people. They started running the ad again this week.:headache: We get this little free paper called the Gazette every week. It is regional - they produce several in the county depending on your specific area. They just show up in the driveway every Wed. night. Used to be pretty big. Great source of scoop with what's going on in the area. Kinda gossipy sometimes. Hometown feel since it's specific to our area of the county. ANYWAY, used to have a whole Classified Section. NOW...the thing is so-o thin. They no longer have a separate Classified Section. 6 or 7 months ago there were about 6 pages of Want Ads....this week....1 page!!! There are 2 Dental Assistants. Taxi Driver. An Electrician. Auto Tech. Drivers for something shift work oriented. A Service Advisor at a car dealer. A Medical Records / Receptionist and one Admin. Assistant.:sad2: 2009 is not starting out any better than 2008 ended.:sad2:

So, anyone watching Regis & Kelly, with the scenes from Mall Cop on? Remember last spring I said I went to the mall and had heart failure because Christmas decorations were up? This is the movie they were filming. It is really weird seeing my local mall (like 10 minutes from my house) in a movie.

Sorry...I don't watch them...I'm strictly a Today Show kinda gal!! BUT...the commercials for that movie look funny. Well, he's generally a funny guy. I'm sure seeing your own mall in a movie IS a hoot. You guys will have to go see it now!!

:headache: Phyllis - I am feelin' your pain about the kiddos not wanting to do all their homework etc. Got an email today from Edline...."If you are receiving this email you are the parent of a son/daughter who did not complete blah, blah rough draft which was due today. The final draft is due tomorrow." :sad2: I have been reminding him since break ended that he has 2 weeks until the end of the semester to keep his grades on par. So NOW he's still working on writing this dialog thing. (He had a big math syllabus to finish first.) MEANWHILE, my printer is acting up again and is not working so I don't know if we can get it to print when he is done typing it.:rolleyes1 We had some power hits the other nite with the freezing rain / ice and for some reason DH does not have the printer plugged into the battery power thing - so everytime the power blips the printer wigs out!!:sad2: I have been trying to print something all afternoon and it keeps trying to align the cartridges.:headache: If we can't get it to work I suppose we may have to email the darned thing to the teacher. I don't know. But RoseAnn Roseanna Danna was right! "It's ALWAYS somethin":sad2:

Oh what a pain that is Annie. Just what you need on top of the homework. :headache: While Cam is painful to get to do homework, I have to be honest, he hasn't been overloaded with it this year. I was worried middle school was going to be a nightmare, and so far, it hasn't been. (knock knock knock)
Thats funny about our test scores. Thank for the info. Its good to know since the whole school year is taught around the stupid MCAS tests. Kids don't learn what they need, but they can take these tests.

Annie- I understand the printer thing. for a couple of months our printer kept saying "align cartridges" Chris finally said it will cost more to fix - go buy another one. They're cheap now. Weird how our kids NEED a computer and printer now. My mom typed my term papers for me (no typee) and everything else just had to be turned in on unwrinkled paper.

Katie- While I am always happy when our school does well in the testing, I think it is weird that the tests are not the same in every state. (not to take anything away from your schools! ) Each state is free to come up with their own test with their own content (within some standards) and wording for the questions. It just seems strange to "rank" the states when everyone is taking different tests. But then I am no fan of No Child Left Behind. And I hate that the teachers are forced to "teach to the test". Bab's first grade teacher was an awesome 6th grade teacher and he went to lower grades so he could actually teach. Phyllis shall leave the soapbox now. :3dglasses

The weekend is in sight! Woo-hoo!

MIA peeps: come out come out wherever you are...
