DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

I watched Regis & Kelly (My daily must view) Wish I had known it was a mall of someone I knew. :happytv:
I have no kitchen but we are on GO. The cabinets were delivered 12/31, and Tuesday they demolished everything. The electricians were here yesterday, the electrical inspection was today (it passed. Yeah!) The new appliances will be here tomorrow and the old ones will disappear. Then the cabinet installer will be back Fri. or Mon. In the meantime, I have my coffee maker, toaster and George Forman on the patio. Dinner is a little difficult, but I am managing.

Annie- I understand the printer thing. for a couple of months our printer kept saying "align cartridges" Chris finally said it will cost more to fix - go buy another one. They're cheap now. Weird how our kids NEED a computer and printer now. My mom typed my term papers for me (no typee) and everything else just had to be turned in on unwrinkled paper.

Katie- While I am always happy when our school does well in the testing, I think it is weird that the tests are not the same in every state. (not to take anything away from your schools! ) Each state is free to come up with their own test with their own content (within some standards) and wording for the questions. It just seems strange to "rank" the states when everyone is taking different tests. But then I am no fan of No Child Left Behind. And I hate that the teachers are forced to "teach to the test". Bab's first grade teacher was an awesome 6th grade teacher and he went to lower grades so he could actually teach. Phyllis shall leave the soapbox now. :3dglasses

The weekend is in sight! Woo-hoo!

MIA peeps: come out come out wherever you are...

I have been looking at printers at Costco when I go. I was REALLY tempted to buy one (with a good price to start with but then also had an add'l rebate) the last time I went...but the timing wasn't good with Xmas and all. We just unplugged ours for awhile this evening. When I turned it back on the cartridges actually ALIGNED (I changed them like 3 weeks ago:rolleyes: ) and it started working again!! The stars must've aligned just right or something! DH said to call him from Costco next time I go (since their in-store inventory changes) so he can look up info on whatever they have when I go. So maybe we'll get a new one soon!?:confused3 The one we have now does not fax...I need a fax sometimes so I want to be sure it will do that. Enlarging and reducing would be good too. And fast of course.:rolleyes1

Funny you say that about the standardized tests. I just read an article today about the Maryland tests (MSA's). Although our scores are really high, they are now complaining about the ratio of Whites and Asians outscoring the Blacks and Latinos. :headache: I'm thinking....they all took the same tests, right? What are they gonna do about it? Give a different test to the Blacks and Latinos so their scores appear higher??:confused3 Good grief Charlie Brown...

:yay: It's like camping!! :goodvibes Can't wait to see pics!!

ooh, I want to see pictures too! (Anne- I have a George Forman inside table-top grill. It's great for burgers but I haven't tried chicken or fish or veggies and it is a royal pain to clean - unless you have a secret way :) )

Annie- what a great idea to call DH from Costco so he wan do immediate research. Never thought of that.

Where are my friends Bootsie and Gertrude??

:grouphug: to all: IT'S FRIDAY!!!:woohoo:

I totally agree, Cheri. How can they rank that? The whole thing is stupid.
Technically, Cam was right on the border line of failing one of them last year. Now if he got 2 less points on that test in the 10th grade, while he may have all passing grades for 4 years of high school, he will would not graduate. Stupid, I tell ya!

Anne...take out! ;) Enjoy roughing it. I cant wait to see pics.

GERT IS ALIVE!!

:lmao: cable phone service:lmao:

Phyllis you do crack me up. MILs satellite internet is slower than my old dial up service. BTW local phone co here only option is DSL and we are trying to get that going. Like living in the stone ages I tell you.

Carried the laptop down to pay bills. Haven't done that since we moved.:confused3 All caught up now. I think. :)

House is officially not ours. Relo company finalized the transfer to them on Tuesday. Sold it for 11 K less than we paid for it 8 years ago. At least we still had our equity so all is not lost. Sure miss the suburbs though.

DD started school. 117 kids in K-8. test scores not so good. Not a NCLB fan here either Phyllis. Stoopid. Katie - watch for differnt test versions coming to your area soon. And interpreters. So the kids can have their tests read to them in their native language. All has to be fair dontcha know.

Still trying to find items that were supposed to come with us here vs. going to storage. DH really messed up the organization on that one.:sad2:
Still only have 2 pair of jeans but found some shirts!!:cool1: What a moron.

DD has a week off in February. So looking for somewhere warm to go. As RJ said we have not seen the sun but once since January started. Me no likey. Thinking maybe Hawaii. Any other thougthts? Also thought SD but might still be cool there....

OK have to go eat before I pass out. Working through the blues here. Hoping to catch up with RJ next week. Phyllis gonna try the Bets text message method today. Hope it works.

Hey, Johnna! Good to hear from you. Hope DD likes school and that things get a little smoother for you. I'm sure things will fall into place soon.

My thoughts on Hawaii....BRING ME! :thumbsup2

Yep, we are in for another 5-9 inches of crap tomorrow night. I can't stand it!

No, no. come to SD/California, sez I!!!! With RJ in the RJ Suite, I still have a guest room and 1st child can stay with Babs like a slumber party. The grown-ups (ok, just those over 21) can have our own party downstairs. Come you must!

I cooked on my new stove,:worship: but there are no cabinets around it so it is a little difficult. I also had a hard time trying to figure out where to put what in the new refrig. It is so different than the old one. This one has the freezer in the bottom so everything is right in front of you when you open up the refrig door. Two of the shelves are slide out for easy reaching. It also has a wire rack that holds 12 soda cans or two bottles of wine. (I have diet, caffiene free Coke-my drink of choice) They can't install the dishwasher or microwave until the cabinets are in. They didn't come today so I suppose it will be Monday.

I go for dat! :thumbsup2

At least you can cook, Anne! :thumbsup2 You are getting there.

Well now we are up to 7-10 inches tonight. UGH!

Hey peeps!

My parents still have dial-up! It is VERY slow. Everything times out before you get there!:rotfl2: When we were there over Xmas I was trying to get online and my Mom started making a call. I lost connection...she was complaining about "what's wrong with the phone"?!:rotfl: :sad2: Pretty primative...but it's their only option way out in the boonies!

So it is sounding like maybe a peeps reunion of sorts in Southern CA next month?!:confused3 ALTHOUGH Hawaii sounds LOVELY! All da CA peeps could do Hawaii and post pics to make the rest of us insanely jealous!! :rolleyes1 (Check Costco Travel for deals!:thumbsup2 ) If we lived on the left coast we would prob. go more like every 3 years rather than every 5 years. DS does not get that Feb week off. Only the Monday for Pres. Day.

Went next door for pizza & beer last night...sort of a belated NYE celebation with a bunch of the neighbors. DS had swimming first so he ate really good.:woohoo: One of the husbands was away on a business schmoosing trip and I think is down in the FL peeps neck of the woods. She just said he is golfing at Sawgrass in FL. Is that by this Sawgrass Mills place where you guys go shopping Betsy?! I thought it sounded like too much of a coincidence on the name.

Not much else going on this weekend...lots of "winter laundry" to work on. I HATE winter laundry. It is never ending.:headache: Too many big bulky layers.

Katie...sorry about your weather forecast! I feel for ya!

Oh check me! Posting from the crackberry! On ou way 2 old house 2 move a treadmill and have dinner w/old neighbors. Well they r not old per se but you understand...
Katie sorry about your forecast.

Cool beans, Gert!!:thumbsup2 Hope ya had fun at dinner!

DS had to make up his own Greek myth this weekend and type it up.:rolleyes1 This has taken a good part of the day. It is full of names like Aretmis, Poseidon, Ares, Athena, Hephaestus, Zeus and Hermes!:rotfl: It is a myth about where chocolate comes from!:rotfl2: I think we need a thesaurus tho 'cuz he is using the word "delectable" a lot!

Yeah, Gert is no longer MIA!

7-9 inches of snow? ok, brrrrrr!

Annie- I remember when Dougie had a similar assignment. He wasn't creative to come up with chocolate. Smart kid there. (we had pizza last night too. No beer though. Is three teenagers upstairs laughing kind of the same? No, I guess not.)

Dougie is off to see Bride Wars. Boy must be desperate to get out of the house. The movie looks cute but for a 15 year old boy? At least I don't have to listen to Van Halen screaming from upstairs.:upsidedow

and one last thing... GO CHARGERS!!!!

i had pizza last night!!

Cheri - now you never answer my texts..I send to phone and other..I gonna take your extra special friend certificate away!!

Tough day here in Florida...78..breezy..45% humidity!!
dqiumx.jpg

Correction! Betsy is a hussie!! That is WORSE than mean!!
Katie - GET OUT of there before next weekend!!!!! I know we're supposed to get cold too by the end of the week but I don't think THAT cold!!!:cold: More like upper teens / 20 degrees I think for highs! LOL...I am already watching for the extended forecast for our ski weekend that starts on the 23rd! LOL...

OK - need research & opinions from the CA peeps!!! Who knows anything about Palm Desert?? Would that be a good place to trade to with our DVC for say spring break one day??? Is it too hot in the summer??? (And how hot would you say it IS there in say August???) Wheels are turning for a "one day" trip...the Club Intrawest site says it's a 2 hr. drive from LA or SanDiego. So I was thinking a couple or 3 nights at DL then maybe 3 nights or so at Palm Desert. Any educated thoughts on that one???:confused3
