DIS-Functional Wonder Peeps 7/20 & 7/24, 2008 PART II

I've been "teaching" myself Photoshop Elements for awhile now. There is a steep learning curve but then a sort-of light goes on and you kind of understand. Elements is limited I'm finding, but it'll be worth it just spend some time playing with it. Too bad you can't install it at work and fiddle around when the receptionist is gone.

I haven't found anyone on the DIS-signs board that uses it though. They all seem to use Paint Shop Pro.

I have returned from Disney on Ice!! Disney really knows how to put on a show don't they!?

$10 tub of popcorn $12 snowcone. Can't beat that.

Magnets, magnets...I use Publisher. Really really basic stuff. Sorry Annie I cannot help you there.

So RJ - you floating away down there? Geesh can we have some sunshine please!?

No on the Oscars here too. Was in Stockton watching Princess Dreams come true!

OK - gotta go search the web for the perfect horse husband won't let me buy and some clip art for some project.

I am ready for a cruise. DH just woke up saying his head hurts and he feel like throwing up. Ryan just woke up and said "I don't feel good". Its her head and throat.

Good thing throwing up is prohibited in this house.

Great. JUST what I need - a steep learning curve! I let DH tell me what I needed to buy 'cuz he's supposed to be an IT guy! Grrrrrrr. (miss my angry smiley guy being on page 1). I don't believe in driving around lost - I always stop & ask for directions, so I put out an SOS email to a few folks here at work this morning to see if I could find anyone who might use it. I need a quick start lesson! I started with the Marketing Dept. - but they mostly use PowerPoint (another one I don't know). Then I expanded my search to the Design Dept. - EUREKA! I found someone over there who knows it!! And she's SO-O nice this one! She is from Iowa, has like 15 siblings and is leaving in a few weeks to devote the next 2 1/2 years of her life to the Peace Corp! She's young - and hopefully patient! ANYWAY, she said she has it on her laptop and the receptionist is out (yes again) tomorrow for a funeral so she's gonna give me a quick tutorial lesson while I'm down there!!!!! She said Adobe Illustrator would be better - but too late now!! I'm just irritated I bought the wrong stuff! I used Print Shop Deluxe and Publisher YEARS ago at my old job...they WERE both very easy! I forgot about that one. But you're right Cheri - down there on the reception desk would be a good place to "play" with it. Oh well.


TRM - to the sick! Don't let 'em infect our Baby Pirate Linden!! Glad you are back and had fun...missed hearing from you all weekend!

CamColt comes back tomorrow, right? Hope she's not too pruned up!

Annie - can't believe I forgot about Powerpoint! It is so easy. Just insert the pictures you want, use text boxes to put in whatever words you want, and BINGO instant door sign! Do you already have the graphics/clip art you want to use and know what you want to say?

Haven't had my "tutoring lesson" yet. I think my friend might be a tad busy doing WORK!! I tried (briefly) last night at like 10:00 to open this stoopid Photoshop Elements - I just don't know what to do first! I am feeling like a burned out oven bulb! DH went & imported ALL of my photos into it - all like 7,500 of them! And they are not organized AT ALL. I was like "I don't want that GUNK in there!" And Cheri - NO! I don't know what I want to do yet! I just want some software that's easy enough to play with so when I DO get an idea I can toodle around with it w/o spending 6 hours on it!! I bought this presentation paper at Staples the other day while I was there too (50% off and now I know why). I opened it up & was reading the instructions last night. Geeze Louise. Could I buy something that's NOT a pain in the patoot EVER?! Just once? It has to be loaded into the printer with this special sheet underneath then it has to dry for 15 min. with another plain white piece of paper on top and if that piece gets curly then it has to dry for like 24 hours with ANOTHER sheet on top! No stacking it up for 24 hours etc.! Blah, blah, blah. GOOD GRIEF CHARLIE BROWN!!!

I am doing my first shift on the switchboard now (receptionist had Aunts funeral today). I am hoping that the designer will have time to sit with me on my afternoon shift (3-5:00).

OK, so get this - I had peeked at kayak.com this morning just 'cuz I could. Actually, I like to keep watch on our airfares that I booked for this summer...AIRTRAN HAD CHANGED OUR RETURN FLIGHTS and had not contacted us! Instead of the 1:15 direct flight that I had orig. booked they had cancelled that one and put us on an 11:00 am connecting one!! So I called 'em right up! She said they likely have not finished fiddling with the flight schedule yet and that was why they hadn't emailed me yet! I told her that was too early and that if they don't keep me on a direct flight I won't use them again! But the earliest direct flight they had is not until like 3:15 now. I knew they were too good to be true with those prices. I guess I will have to check the website every couple of weeks or so to see what's going on!

Annie - I hope you figure the PE6 out before you blow a fuse. Remember, you have a few months to make it happen. Then just jump on the DIS and ask someone to do it for you!!

OK guessing I did not will lotto. Nobody came knocking. Guess I have to find that ticket and see if maybe I matched anything.

Have a few work files on my desk right now I am staring at.

DH is home again today. He is not truly flu-ish but just doesn't feel good. Girls are fine. I have a scratchy throat. Going to ramp up the vitamin C.

Other than that....nada mucho happening here.

Hey - anybody ever swim with the manatees?? Thinking I might want to do that on Saturday before cruise. hhmmmm...would need a car...that needs some checking into.
