As others have said, there are many other places online where you can scrap anything for challenges. What makes this challenge special, for me anyway, is that it is always Disney related. This IS the DISboards after all. :) I don't know what the point of the DIS challenges would be if they weren't for Disney subjects. :confused3

the point of the disboard challenges should be letting everyone play because that would be the nice DISNEY thing to do. I think what piratesmate was saying is there is room for everyone. maggie

I am having a hard time following this thread! I really do love looking at all the different layouts and must say totally amazed that this is all computer stuff! Maggie, don't get excited I am not joining in....I just can't wrap my brain around this digital stuff.....
But personally about the rules, someone just needs to start a new non disney challange....what is the big deal about that?

If this is the mind set of this board then we shouldn't have swaps that aren't disney related, no more holiday swaps, recipe swaps, etc....because this IS the DISboards.......I always thought this was the scrapbook board a branch off of the DISboards that has boards for all kinds of non Disney topics.
On the photography board they have all kinds of weekly stuff going on yes the big one is disney but then I have seen other post about other types of pictures.

Okay, I wasn't orginally going to jump into this as I don't feel this particular thread should be turned into any debate. But it is making me slightly angry that it's turning into a slam on these challenges, which the majority of the participants really enjoy doing-

Way back when these were started the main purpose of this thread was to inspire us to get our Disney layouts done. For 21 weeks now this had been the underlying rule. This is really no different than any other challenge out there that specifies rules. Our rule is that it's Disney related. KWIM? :confused3

The purpose of the scrapbook forum (not this thread) is not restrictrive to just disney layouts or discussions, but everything. The simple solution for those who want non-Disney related challenges, is for those people to host one on these boards. I'm sure there would many of the same participants who join the Disney ones that would join. As many love a good digital challenge.

I don't think it is at all being non-disney like to continue with these challenges.

:surfweb: OH MY! Hi guys! Everyone's pretty much said what I'm going to say - but I guess some of you have been waiting for my opinion since I started the challenges in the first place.

We do challenges here as inspiration to get our many Disney pics scrapped. That's been the rule since day 1. If someone wanted to start a non-Disney related chain of challenges - I'm sure that would be more than welcome!! But for our current challenges - one of the rules is that they have to be Disney related. All over the digi-scrap web, different challenges - er . . CHALLENGE scrappers for a specific theme. Its not abnormal. I think its key to remember that they don't have to just be park photos. Disney on Ice, your kids playing with Disney toys, Disney Halloween costumes, anything like that will work! Many of you remember I scrapped a Disney Themed Dinner I went to at my SIL's house! haha

We're not trying to EXCLUDE anyone! One thing I love is that a lot, if not most of the DIS Digi-Scrappers have also joined ScrapMatters and participate in their challenges. Which are of course not Disney related whatsoever. Where someone might find it refreshing to scrap a non-Disney LO, I find it refreshing to come here to scrap my Disney pages and share in the love of Disney with all my DIS girls. It's special that way and different here than the 1,000s of other challenges.

For who have run out of Disney-pics, keep sharing and chatting in our mega thread. Feel free to start a non-Disney challenge if you'd like. Or come join the many of us who also do challenges at SM. (this is a secret that I'll give the DIS girls, but SM is about to start having a TON more challenges and they are going to be so so so fun!!)

So - can we end this debate and put our focus back on this fabulous challenge Bernie is hosting? Like Bernie said, if you scrapped non-Disney on this one before she mentioned the rule, its ok. We who have been doing it for so long forget to mention it! I know I have forgotten to mention on some of my past challenges.

If you still feel like talking it over lets start a new thread. k? :hippie:

:thumbsup2 I agree with Britt. She said pretty much what I was going to say. I love the challenges here because it is strictly Disney related and has helped me scrap so many of those pages. Non-Disney challenges can be found anywhere. I love the challenges at ScrapMatters and can't wait to see the new ones they've come up with. :)

And now I must go work on my entry for this challenge! I've been so bad. I haven't even started yet! D'oh!

I probably should keep my mouth shut as I don't really want to fan the flame, but here I go. Why should we keep them Disney only? This way we ARE excluding people and that is wrong. I admit that when I made my monkey page, I completely forgot about our hidden "disney" requirement and when I remembered, I just kept going on, no sense in starting over and at that point I didn't care if I got DQ'd for it. I got a page done and that is an accomplishment.

There have been many challenges where I didn't do the challenge because it wasn't something I wanted to scrap about with Disney pics. Perhaps if we change it to: Try to make it Disney related, but if you cannot, that is ok. That way we will try to make it all Disney themed, but we aren't excluding anyone because they don't have appropriate pictures or experiences to scrap about.

And while this is a Disney forum, this is a subsection relating to scrapbooking, ALL scrapbooking. We all happen to be Disney fans, so the talk sometimes centers around Disney themes, but when they released Hello Kitty Cricut cartridges, you better believe that it got posted about!

Um, pardon my ignorance, but what does that mean? I've seen it used but, well, I haven't a clue.

Tinker326 - I like the way you moved the 4 small pics up and added the larger one underneath. This really is a great template. You can play around with it a lot!

Christy - once again, um, can I scraplift your page? I love it, as usual. You really have class when it comes to your LOs.

Thanks for the awesome template Bernie-Ann![/IMG]

I totally agree!!!! :thumbsup2

Let's keep this thread related to *THIS* challenge.

Hi Everyone!

Just sent a PM to all those of you who have posted a LO. Please let me know if I've missed anyone or if you're having any problems downloading.

The moderators would like to remind you to be respectful when talking to or about other posters. Also, please bear in mind that the Creative Community is a place of INclusion, not EXclusion. Just as cooking discussions do not need to be only about Disney recipes or gardening discussions do not need to be only about Disney gardens, the scrapping board is not just about scrapping Disney photos.

While we like to have people go to other sites to visit, we hope this is home to many, if not all of you. Sticking to just Disney may lead to people go elsewhere and we don't want that! We have become a family here over the years and every year our family photo gets larger as we incorporate new sisters and brothers into the clan. Yes it gets a little squishy at times when you get stuck between Uncle Earl and Aunt B, but don't worry we'll make room for everyone. So please just have a little patience and respect as we work out the kinks for a new family photo for Grandpa Pete.

Signed,

The Creative Community Moderating Team
