Good to see you Elizabeth! How is your mom?

Hi, Laurie!
She is fine, thanks. She thinks she is going to buy a house. It's a horrible idea - she can't afford it. But she is going to do it anyway and leave the mess for me to contend with. Just like always.

LMP...I am thinking about you and glad to hear youir updates on how things are going. I hope everyone else is doing well too.

I have been swamped with school work and finally finished statistics last weekend :worship: and managed to get a B with the grace of God and my husband's patient tutorials. Did I ever mention that I am the worst in math...seriously can't do even the most basic math problems.

Today we went to the beach and sat out for a few hours. It was windy and kind of cold but oh so beautiful. Its been a while since we did that, it was really a nice morning. Then we tried to get a table at this sea side cafe and they actually closed down from 11 to 12 noon. Ridiculous. So we got into our car and drove down the road and stopped and had chili dogs. It was soooooooooo much more fun than having lunch at the overpriced cafe and so delicious!:confused3:banana::yay: Its the little moments.

Oh well, GAGWTA! :grouphug:

Good morning sistas!!:)

So sorry to hear about Kelly. She and her family are in my prayers.

Well tomm. is my last day of quarantine, yippee!! Sat. I go for that scan. I wont know the results until May 21. I think the rad. onc. said its to see if the radiation is killing the cancer cells or sees if they are left. I asked her if its more accurate than a PET scan but she said its a different thing only looiking for thyroid cancer cells. I read the thread on the CB about gettig the bad news etc., so now I will have to wait like over 2 weeks and almost 3 for these results.

My girlfriends dd, who just turned 18 has decided to put herself on the 1A transplant list for a heart. This is the one who already had the bone marrow transplant for leukemia when she was 2. She is at Morgan Stanley Childrens in NYC. This is the highest priority level. The drs. said it could be 3 hours or 3 months of waiting but she cant leave the hosp. now. My heart goes out to this precious young girl Alyssa, keep her in your prayers. She is so brave and mature beyond her years. I taught her in sunday school years ago.

Well the ds just woke up so there goes my computer time, short and sweet. Also my wound is still draining, sigh, sigh, I go back to that surgeon May 12 I think and I sure hope he wont be saying the S word, yup surgery again, I dont know how much more my body can take etc.

GTAGWTA

LMP, thank goodnees you will be out and about again soon.

You sure are a trooper. Three weeks is a long time to wait but you have shown your strength in past as this has been much of a waiting game all along.

You can do it.

Your strength is reflected in your asking for prayers for Alyssa. She surely has them from me, as do you.

Always glad to see you up to posting or competing for the computer as you do.

I'm so sorry to hear about Kelly...:sad1:

Maryann- I'm glad you are almost out! It's good to focus on others...I'll say a prayer for you and Alyssa.

I started with some eye problems over the weekend. It looks like pink eye, but it's in both, very red, painful and yucky. GI doc doesn't think it's an infection, but eye problems that are related to my UC and is sending me to an ophthalmologist. I see him Thur.

:) Good afternoon sistas!!

Well in less than 24 hrs. I will be free, yeah!! I had a terrible night last night so I have taken the binder off until tonight. I started itching like crazy!! My skin wants air I think. My wound site hurts or I should say is sore, I hope this is not a bad sign.

Laura - I hope your eye problems get resolved soon

Alice - how is the swine flu stuff by you? No cases here in Suffolk so far and today we got a recorded message from the school about precautions etc.

Elizabeth - Hope your mom really thinks about the house, Hmm, tornado season is fast approaching. Hope all will be well with you,

Laurie - Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers. You must be proud of your dd

Cheryl - How is your mom and Charlie?

Melissa - How did yur dds audition go?

Maureen - Mmmm, chili dogs!

gtagwta - to Linda and everyone else I missed

LMP- can you or do you wear a cotton shirt under it? not sure if that is possible, or if it would help. Glad freedom is close

Ladies, my friend Cait... her mom is worsening... she had another stroke, and the cancer she has is now in her bowel... caused a perforation. I won't discuss what I think about the surgeon that came in, saying they were going to do surgery (it would be unprofessional and unladylike). The oncologist pointed out that there would be a good month of recovery for that to heal (and may not have a month) and that is she coded on the table, they wouldnt do anything (because she has a DNR)..

so I am writing to ask for more prayers for Cait and Miss Anne. A friend asked Cait, what would you want me to pray for? Cait replied, for her to go to sleep and not wake up. She is heart broke as any of you can imagine... and all I can do is listen, hug from afar and pray... can you help with the prayer part??????? thanks I know you all have a lot on your plate too...

Prayers being said now for both Cait and Miss Anne.

Praying helps the person praying as much as the subject of the prayer request.

I'll try to keep this short and maybe it'll get through.

LMP, the audition went pretty well. Still waiting for results.

Prayers being said for Miss Anne and Cait. GAGWTA

Praying for Cait and Miss Anne.

Also for Kelly and family. :(

And lmp's little Alyssa :sad1:

Coming up on my cancerversary in a week or so, and though cause for celebration is always an unsettling time of year.

Laura, hope your eyes clear up soon! :scared1:

First 2 "probable" NH cases of swine flu (still not CDC confirmed) right here in town, a mile away...hospital employees no less!

GAGWTA!!

Ann, unsettling is exactly the word I used in an email describing how I felt on Tuesday when I became a member of the 5 year club.

Great minds think alike.

We have planning to go to Jazz fest in New Orleans for months with our New Orleans friend and out of town folks. Tomorrow is the day.

There are all these rumors circulating on the NOLA.com boards about cases of swine flu being downplayed so as not to chase the tourists (the ones with $$$) away.

Who knows?

I am going to have to take my airborne and get on with life. DH is going come hell or high water as he is finally taking a day off.

I'll have my hand wipes. Washing hands is interesting with portolets.

I may have to wait in line for the real bath room.

I just wish Bruce Springsteen was on the schedule. Bon Jovi is there Saturday but we have a tournament in the middle of the day so no Bon Jovi for me!!!

:grouphug:~~~***GAGWTA sistas***~~~:grouphug:

My eyes are so much better...all on their own, naturally. I did see the ophthalmologist yesterday and he said they are fine, no bad stuff that they worry about with my conditions/meds and 20/20 vision. I see him in 6mo for f/u. My UC is still mildly flaring. I see my GI doc on Wed.

Thinking of all of you...:grouphug:

This is fantastic news!!:cool1:

:thumbsup2 Good evening sistas!!

Well I survived the scan today. It was something similar to something I had in Sept. when I had to eat radioactive egggs and they made a movie of my stomach. They shove you in some machine and wrap your arms in a sling and tell you to be still for like one hour. This time it was basically the same. I usually shut my eyes and dont look. They turn the lights off in the room. One set of pictures he had to put a marker on my chin and then a marker on some part of my sternum. He said the dr. will look at it. I dont know if that means the nuclear dr. or my rad. onc. He said, yes its to look for anymore cancer etc. To see how the radiation was effective in killing anything that was there etc. One picture didnt come out which was by my wonderful draining stomach wound so they had to shove me back in the machine after we were waiting in the waiting room.

Other than that DS 17 took the sats today and got his report card for the 3rd quarter which was very good, honor roll, like a 3.7.; We are hoping he gets a good sat score so he might qualify for a scholarship offered from dh work, but its really competitive etc. and they rely alot on the sat scores. Dh leaves for canada tomm. so I am doing his laundry now.

It was creepy at the hosp. today. They had signs with stuff like if you need a mask and are visiting etc. and they put lots of hand sanitizer bottles on the wall mounts before you got on the elevators downstairs etc. Guess they are taking it really seriously.

Hope you all have a great week end, GTAGWTA

HI Ladies-- hope all is well.

All those struggling remain in my prayers, as well as those who care for them.

LMP-- what did your son say about the SATs?? I'm curious about the kids in my SAT prep class. I didn't proctor, and am anxious to see what they thought of it.
