Does anyone have a Disney Plush Princess that they have sucessfully laundered?

We bought a Sleeping Beauty at a M2M sale last year. My DD LOVES it and carries it with her everywhere, so as a result, she's a dirty, dirty princess. There are no washing instructions on her tag. I am thinking I might just throw her in the washer on gentle with some detergent and oxyclean, then dry on delicate. Has anyone washed one of these things? What do you recommend for washing a plush?

I don't know the particular plush you are talking about, but I have at various times washed just about every plush toy in my house (especially last year during the great lice invasion of '08 and the year before in the flea plague of '07) without problems.... the only difference between how I washed them and the way you are proposing is that I put them in zippered pillowcases before throwing them in the washing machine. I've never lost one in the process. I will say that cheap gross ones like you get a carnivals just get tossed, so I've never tried those.

I have washed webkins after DS4 got sick on his favorite. I washed it by itself on the delicate cycle with Tide and Oxyclean (my personal choice-not implying to use these). Then I put it in the dryer on the lowest heat setting and the delicate cycle and set the timer for 15-20 minutes. I checked it after cycle and went from there how much longer it should stay in. I also squish around the stuffing a bit and when he is damp, I just put him on top of the dryer and let him finish air drying.

It is always hard when we have to clean one of our kiddos 'favorite' items...always worry about ruining it and not being able to secretly replace it and then tramatizing our kids.

I currently have a BOLT plushie drying in the dryer as I type this. I have washed every plushie my kids have gotten attached to and have never had any problems. It is a bit eerie when you go to shut the washing machine door and they are looking up at you!

I have washed many plush "animals". I put them in a pillow case and if I don't have one that zips I will just close up the end with a rubber band. When I put them in the dryer I always put a lot of towels in with them. There is less noise that way plus the don't take such a hard beating as they tumble. Good Luck!

Love the title. Good luck with the washing! I think if you follow what the others are saying you should be fine. Lucky you to have a princess! We had a Santa-- not just any Santa, a $1.00 from the Dollar Store, bought just for fun on Thanksgiving weekend for a Christmas season toy, cheaply made, had to have his seams sewn multiple times, scared to put it in the washer because of the real risk he would disintegrate Santa. Santa went everywhere for about 1 1/2 to 2 years. Santa is in our 4th of July pictures. People look at you strange when you are carrying a Santa around in August. When we realized she was so attached we bought another one before they were gone and hid it because we were worried the 1st wouldn't last. We later tried to trade out the dirty one for the spare and that didn't work. She immediately demanded "MY" Santa. She dubbed No. 2 "substitute Santa", which when spoken by a 1 year old comes out "tute Santa" (which took us a while to figure out when we put No. 2 away and she started demanding "tute Santa" back).... and then there were 2 to take everywhere.

The santa story cracked me up. Sounds like he was your flat stanley! I'll take before and after pics of Sleeping Beauty. She looks like she's, er, rolled in the hay right now, so I'm hoping that she'll be back to her pristine self shortly.

I'm going to try the towels in the dryer too, good suggestion!

The royal spa bath worked wonders, Sleeping Beauty looks band new! I was actually surprised that she looks as fresh-faced as she does; remember I know where that girl has been, and she's really gotten around.

I washed her while my DD was sleeping, then put her back under DD's arm before she woke up. DD saw SB and said, "Mom! She's all clean! Its magic!".

I had tears reading this because I can totally relate, my DS2 is totally attached to this cute stuffed floppy star shaped elephant that the company no longer sells... that being said, i looked on ebay for a backup and only found 1 and the woman wanted $40 for it!!! it maybe at best was a $15 dollar toy new, and hers was used!!!! People are crazy! But I just wash it while he is asleep or otherwise preoccupied, in my "delicates" bag. But I always give it a little kiss befre I toss it in and wish it happy swimming... (people are crazy )
