Direct-To-Video Movies

How do you feel about Disney's Direct-To-Video movies (ie sequels to classics)?

  • I hate them. Walt hated sequels too & he'd kill Eisner if he was alive today. They're not really D

  • It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. While I realize that some people like them & that's their peroga

  • I don't really care for them, but someone in my family wants them, so we have them. If it were up t

  • I kind of like them. While I don't consider them anywhere near the level of the theatrical releases

  • I like 'em. If it reads "Disney" on the box, it's a Disney movie IMO. I'll watch all of them if I

I have pretty strong feelings about them, but I was wondering how the rest of you felt about them.

I bet I know how you feel Jeff. I must admit that I have bought them, the ones I have purchased may not be the quality of "big screen" movies but for rated "G" they still are the best out there IMO. 6yo dd loves them. Would the latest "Tarzan and Jane" or "Return to neverland" be including in what you are refering to???

I kind of like them. I can see a difference between them and the ones that are released in theaters, though. :) I wonder sometimes if they have animators-in-training working on them!

snowwhitemom - Tarzan & Jane would since it only came out on video & DVD, but Return to Neverland was a theatrical release so that wouldn't count (though some would argue that it was a DTV movie that somehow made it to the theaters).

I don't like them.

The only Disney sequel I liked (and it wasn't DTV) was Toy Story2.

Some are a bit off, and I will never watch (dont quote me :o ). I just dont want Dumbo II or Snow White II (yes it is in the works) to come out. Just NO!

I liked Toy Story II, it was just as good as 1.

I liked TLK 2, and can't wait for TLK 1 1/2: The Hakunna Matatta to be out, just like I can't wait for Mulan II and III. I love Mulan, I know it wont be as good, but Mulan rocked!

I very much dislike them, but will borrow them from the library for the kids.....won't spend money so they can see them, even for a rental.

On the whole I dislike them.

I think they are cheap, manipulative tools that play off the success of the theatrical features in order to pry my money away from me.

What he said.

My feeling is that if Disney didn't even feel they were good enough to release them in the theater, it's a waste of my time.

The sequels are bad enough (for the most part) but slapping a few TV episodes together to make a video is really nasty.
