Direct flights from Scotland at Christmas?

Hi everyone,

Not been here since our last trip in 2007. But we'd love to go for Christmas this year. But finding flights from Scotland is proving hard. Some of the flights I've found have us travelling for near enough 2 days either end of the holiday. Is it possible to go direct from Scotland in December? I've found a fly drive for next June/July for under £4000 then we've found a villa that we like. So we may just have to wait another 6 months.

Can anyone give any recommendations?

i don't know about direct, but BA has some reasonably priced flights from glasgow via gatwick that only take about 12 to 13 hours including stopover in london...that's not too bad...

We go the indirect route normally. Aberdeen - Amsterdam or Paris and the onwards to Orlando.

This is what we booked for this year. Also in Scotland and to be honest, we prefer indirect. It breaks up the flight nicely and if you clear customs elsewhere in the US before you get to MCO, it saves you a lot of time and trouble. United does a daily flight via Newark and there are plenty connections to choose from so you don't have to worry about being stranded if your international flight is delayed.

We're going next June instead. I have a condition which means travelling is hard work and we're best doing direct. I've found a villa and flights. Just need to find the best price on park tickets and car hire.

I always go from Manchester or Gatwick in December. Spend the night before in a PremierInn at the airport. Flights very reasonably priced around £400.

You can, or better said; they advertise it as direct. Arkefly is such an option. Sure, the aircraft will get you to Orlando eventually but not without making a stop at MIA first. And as is well known with these charter airlines; don't hold your breath for something you book today to still be operated tomorrow. They've been known to fully pull schedules on monday, to reschedule them on thuesday, change them on wednesday and definately cancel them again on thursday. But in theory and todays reality the option is there.


Looking at the hubs Cyrano is mentioning, most likely Cyrano goes for the Skyward group of KLM, Air France, Delta etc. Which would most likely result in another transfer at Atlanta -or a bit less likely but still an option JFK-. With Skyward there are no direct options for either AMS-MCO or AMS-SFB, but that doesn't mean there are zero options between AMC-MCO or AMS-SFB that are........ well, advertised and sold as non stop.
