I'd definitely recommend Kona - it's just a monorail ride away.

But you might want to make your reservation a bit earlier (4:30 or 5:00, maybe?) to give yourselves plenty of time to get to MK, enter the park, and grab a spot for the opening parade.

That's our plan, but with GFC. We hope to get a 4:00 or so ADR so we can get back to MK before the official start.
I've done lots of other options for parties but love GFC, so wanter to try it this way. In '06 we ate at Cosmic Ray's about 7 and they had the full menu. Got the ribs/chicken combo of course. In '09 did Plaza for MVMCP, a 5:35 ADR, and were in and out in 45 minutes. We paid oop and skipped dessert. Had an amazing reuben. Last year with my not yet 3 yo nephew, did CP at 4:45. Blech! But Glancey loved Tigger, so it was fine. Lots of options, just lade sure your timing is what you want.
And we will be at MK at 8 that morning for EMH and NOT take a break. We the Big Dawgs.
