Day 1: We didn't plan to eat at Liberty Tree Tavern but family was starving & woo-hoo: a party of 8 cancelled just minutes before we arrived for lunch! Fantastic traditional menu, huge servings, scrumptuous desserts & our waiter, Tam Ho, was very, very fun! Son & I loved the grilled salmon sandwich, sister had a wonderful pot roast meal; my memory is fuzzy on what everyone else ate. We would definitely return!
Day 2: Chef Mickey On the way to the Contemporary Restort the kids got to ride in the front seat of the monorail with the conductor. They loved it!!! (Who wouldn't, right?) The appetizers & the desserts were best at this location. The entrees? Blah! The prime rib was bleeding too much for our table's liking, the salmon had some sort of herb relish on top that wasn't good and the "brown" sauce that I thought was gravy was mysterious and unappealing. Mickey, Minnie, Donald & Pluto made the rounds to every table which was fun and rowdy. This restaurant was our least favorite.
Day 3: Sci-Fi Dine Inn was a lot of fun. The kids were given "driver's licenses" which they thought was cool. Wonderful milk shakes, appetizers, big juicy steaks and huge onion rings. The rich basil tomato soup that is offered to the kids for their appetizers may not be what most kids would expect. As a result, daughter & I swapped appetizers. The black & white movie clips were hilarious and lasted probably an hour before the loop began to repeat.
Day 4: 50's Prime Time Cafe In the mood for some "Mama attitude?" Well, this is the place! We all enjoyed shrimp cocktail, thick milk shakes, pot roast & grilled chicken. We were encouraged to clean our plates. Sister & brother-in-law don't eat mushrooms much to the consternation of our waiter, "Cousin," who cleared our table only to return minutes later with the 'shrooms sitting in the middle of dessert plates that were garnished with whipped cream & sprinkles. Eeww! We got a good laugh at this, though.
Hubby forgot to take off his hat so a nearby waitress got onto him about his bad manners but then was quick to have everyone in our section of the restaurant call the "reporting citizen" a tattletale. At a nearby rowdy section of the diner, a 10-year old boy didn't finish his meal so he was taped (with masking tape) to his chair & scooted all through the restaurant with everyone chanting, "bad boy, bad boy." The boy was laughing pretty good at the humor he was providing for everyone.
My 6-year old daughter, however, didn't see the humor & was overly concerned that she could be next. She wasn't.
We gave the food & atmosphere a thumbs up!
Day 5: Cinderella's Royal Table. It was a bit of a cattle call waiting to get pictures made with Cinderella but all the girls really enjoyed the experience. Dinner was delicious. Very, very thick and juicy prime rib (and not bleeding all over the place, either), tortellini, lemon lavendar baked chicken. I only had 2 complaints with my meal: I don't like lamb but somehow those juices made their way to my potatoes au gratin (yech!) and I don't like asparagus so the waiter suggested the sauteed veggies from the tortellini plate. "Sure!," I say, only to discover asparagus spears were among the sauteed veggies. Oh, well. A fun floor show featuring the Fairy God Mother and a pair of mice was fun. Our table of 8 was a bit crowded and hubby was kind pushed out into the aisle. We witnessed a marriage proposal and cheered two couples who were each celebrating their 35th anniversaries. We thought the experience was worth 2 dining credits. The possible down side was exiting the castle & being told we would have to wait until the fireworks show was finished before we were safe to get buried in the crowds. Well, we pleaded to be released from behind the ropes since the show hadn't started & our captors relented. The show started probably 5 mins. later . . . and it was pretty, of course!
