Dinner on 2/9/03:
Arrived 5 minutes early for 5:45 PS. Seated within 2 minutes. Sat in the wine room, which does not have a MK view, but is much quieter than the rest of the place. The view off the 'back side' of the Contemporary is nice, just not as interesting as the 'front side'.
Started with 3 cheese, 3 garlic flatbread appetizer. Delicious, and very flavorful, but in no way too overpowering on the garlic. Drinks were house wine, gin & tonic, and sodas. We skipped the first courses and the sushi, and ordered entrees.
DW got the Grilled Dayboat Scallops, which were perfectly cooked. Grilled outside, tender white inside. I ordered the Yellowfin Tuna with spicy somen noodle bowl. Excellent. Our server, Alicia, advised that the tuna would be medium rare, and that the noodle bowl was spicy hot. The tuna was excellent, bias cut on top of the noodles, so you could see how cooked it was. The spicy noodles were too hot for DW, but fine for me. I would say about the same heat as mild jalapenos, but with excellent broth/shiitake flavor, and a sneaky build-up heat, not unlike cayenne peppers, which made it seem hotter when you would stop eating.
Very filling meal. For dessert, we got the trio of creme brulees. I believe the flavors were espresso, vanilla, and butterscoth, served in 3 small ramikins. Perfect size for sharing, after a large meal, and very good.
Total before tip was @ $90.
Probably the best overall meal we had for the week, and the service was definitely top notch. We will be going back. A+
Will be happy to (try to) answer any questions.
