Here are a few quick takes from our dining experiences last week (Sunday, 2/28 - Saturday, 3/6)
  • Centertown Market dinner #1 - good fish tacos, meh pizza, fun orange slushy type drink
  • Star Wars milk stand - Green is gross. Blue for the win! Sweet but refreshing on a hot day
  • Ronto Roasters - Ronto wrap was tasty but overrated. We had a hard/stale pita.
  • Docking Bay 7 lunch - Had two beef dishes (I think? one was ribs, so maybe pork?). Can't recall the names of the dishes, but meat in both was tender, and the dishes had an interesting combinations of flavors.
  • Oga’s Cantina – got the blue/black drink, the dry ice one, and one other? Basically, all the non-alcoholic. All good!
  • Hollywood & Vine closing time reservation - food not bad, but character experience lackluster. After an hour, we had to ask if we could still order dessert. I think they forgot to ask us, as the kitchen was closing up and they were cleaning tables while we ate dessert. Not very magical. 😔 This was just the first of our disappointing character meal experiences. See link below.
  • Friar's Nook & Pinocchio’s - Family got some very basic-looking stuff at Pinocchio's, while I got buffalo tots from Friar's. Tots were everything I hoped they would be. So good and very filling!
  • Be Our Guest dinner - Tables need refurb. Pretty beat up. Main dishes came about two bites into our appetizers. Pretty rushed for such an expensive meal. Also, side dishes for our kids were wrong. These were kitchen issues, not our server's. Funny note: we have only been to this restaurant once, 6 years ago, and got seated at the same table! What are the odds? 😆
  • Pongu Pongu – Pongu lumpia was great, and kids devoured the sugary French toast sticks!
  • Satu’li Canteen - Sorry to the fans, but cheeseburger pods overrated. Then again, I don’t like cheeseburgers! I was hoping my love of bao buns would make me love this dish. Chips tasted like Doritos. The slaw is awesome! Next time will get a bowl with that slaw. But it is very wet and made chips and buns all soggy. 😝 The blueberry cheesecake thing is adorable but also overrated.
  • Dinobites - St. Pat’s ice cream treat – meh. I’d rather just have the ice cream. Tossed most of the cookie.
  • Trattoria al Forno dinner – Bolognese very good! Calamari just okay. Would prefer a marinara on the side than the sauce on top.
  • Flower & Garden festival food – We left our carefully planned and printed sheet with the dishes we wanted to try in the room, so we had to just wing it. Unfortunately, we missed a bunch of items touted as “best of the fest.” My personal favorite was the lobster salad from the citrus place. Small but delicious. I'm craving it right now. The most overrated dish was probably the sugar cane shrimp skewer. It was fine but just didn't live up to the hype. Our favorite booth overall was the Japanese booth. Every dish there was a winner.
  • Biergarten dinner - Food ok. Tasted a little canned. At least our picky kids ate here, since there are dishes similar to hotdogs and chicken nuggets. Great entertainment, especially if you have kids who get squirmy and loud during meals!
  • Jungle Skipper Canteen lunch - The sangria was great, but the food was... maybe a little overrated? It was fine/okay but not amazing. Menu selection is pretty slim. Also, Jungle Cruise dad jokes are not my brand of humor, so the server's funny lines were a little lost on me. Maybe it was the delivery. It was very flat/rehearsed sounding. Just like with the Jungle Cruise skippers, I'm sure it's all about who you get.
  • Centertown Market dinner #2 - chicken bowl was totally inedible. So disgusting. I hate to be wasteful, but I could not eat it. Threw that away and got the fish tacos again. However, those were not as good and refreshing as our first night, and one tortilla was hard and stale. Disappointing last night meal.
  • Topolino's Terrace character breakfast - see this post for our very unfortunate Topolino’s experience.
