Dining question

So...can you eat any time of day? I'm guessing certain restaurants have set hours, but can you get something to eat pretty much any time you want it? I guess I'm curious if they limit you to 3 meals per day, or could my teenage son eat all day long lol? We're used to being on the DDP at WDW where we pretty much schedule all of our meals and snacks. Also, I thought I read somewhere that there were a few places were you could get soda, tea, etc 24 hrs/day.

This is copy/pasted from a Navigator (daily schedule) found on Scott Sanders' Disney Blog. I think this was from the Magic, but the other ships are similar. Even teenagers won't go hungry on a cruise.

Yes, your teenage son will be able to eat all day long. You can see the restaurant hours in the post above. During times when there aren't restaurants open, you can still get room service. Soda, tea, and coffee are available for free 24 hours a day at the drink station on the pool deck.

Wow that's great! That will be a BIG selling point to my family. I convinced them to give cruising a try. They've been on the fence. We've done 10-day WDW/Universal trips almost every year except 2015 we did DL.

The only time you Can't get food is during the Muster Drill (Everything closes during that time).

The only time there is a set time to eat is at the Main Dining Rooms (MDR) for supper. You will either have the early dining time or the late dining time.

Keep in mind the hours for some of the food service items are subject to change depending on the docking schedule. So if you have an earlier all ashore for your port that morning, the places to eat will typically open earlier. Later times and places like Cabanas may not be open until a little later.

Three times a day? HAHAHAHAHAHA.

If you want, the day can go like this:

Fill out the room service card to have breakfast delivered to your room, for free (plus a tip).
Then go to the Main Dining Room for a sit-down breakfast.
Then later in the morning, stop by the breakfast buffet at Cabannas for whatever looks good.
Have a sit-down lunch in the MDR or a buffet lunch in Cabanas (or both), whenever you wish during their hours of operation.
Later in the afternoon, stop by the pool-side restaurant for burgers, pizza, chicken fingers, whatever.
Go to the MDR for your scheduled dinner time at 5:45 or 8:15, or go to Cabanas for a sit-down meal at any time from 6:30-8:30.
Then check out the appetizers at various bars etc later in the evening or go back to poolside until midnight.

Oh, and free soft-serve ice cream, room service, and soft drinks (from the drink station on the pool deck)

So yeah, it can be a BIG selling point for hungry teens, or adults too. It is fun not to have to worry about paying individually for that stuff, and being able to get different things all day long. It also means you don't have to "load up" at meal time. We actually ate lightly at most sit-down meals because we knew we could get something else later.

Room service is available anytime but has to be delivered to a cabin. My teens stayed out late and would order room service from a house phone and then wait outside our door (because we were sleeping) and the would go to one of the lounges or up on the pool deck to eat❤❤

I second this. Food must be "delivered" to the room. Doesn't have to be eaten there. In our case, the person delivering the food made us open the door with our KTTW card to prove it was our room, but he didn't make us enter it.
