This may seem like an odd question but would my husband and I be able to have a table for two at mealtimes or would we have to join others? Apologies if that makes us sound so antisocial...we're not really....well not all the time!

The only time you have to share the tables is at dinner, lunch and all but the final day breakfast you can eat when and where you like and can find tables for just the 2 of you. For dinner you could try palo a time or two if you want some time for just the 2 of you. Also the buffet is open for dinner I believe so you can get a table for 2 up there as well. The dinners are nice and we have had some great table mates and never had a problem . You could always try the first night at your assigned table and adjust from there.

You could put in a request in advance to have a private table in the MDR's, but it is just a request.

This. You can request a table by yourself, but they will not guarantee it.

It's not odd and you don't need to apologize. Call DCL and request a private table. On our last cruise, there were many such tables around us. In our many cruises, we only once shared a table with other families.

We both work with the public and spend our days needing to chat with strangers. When we go on vacation, we want to be by ourselves (and now our son). We never run out of things to talk about...

When I boarded my last Alaska cruise, I went to the dining changes table and asked if we had a table for 2, which we didn't. They fixed that for us. We had second seating and it sounds like it is easier to get a private table if you choose second seating. We did see a family at a table next to ours who switched from main seating to second seating just so they could have their own table.

We had a table for two on our Alaska cruise last summer. We had main seating and they honoured our request. :)

Just call them and request it, they'll make a note in your dining reservation and try to accommodate you, which they usually do. Also if the first night you get to dinner and you are seated with anyone, you can usually check with the Head Server and they will try to reseat you for future nights since there are so many changes the first night with people switching seating times and restaurants. Also it's nice to note that Disney tries to match the age profiles of people they sit together, so you're not going to be placed at a table of a family with kids, it'll most likely be another couple traveling by themselves.
