I am wondering if the free dining plan would benefit us. I currently have ressies for 8 nights Aug 19-27 at Coronado Spgs 2 adults, ds 12, dd 10. We have unexpired park hopper passes that we are planning to use up. Could I buy just one extra day of tickets and save money with the free dining? The cost of our reservation right now with AAA is $1169. I just applied for the Disney Visa card last week and they said I would receive the info on it in 30 days so I think I would have to wait until the 4th to make any changes.

YES! That's what we did. WE have old tickets that we were planning on using so we only got 1 day base tickets.

You only need to buy a one-day base ticket for each person in your room to get the free dining. We are buying only one-day tickets (about $256) for my family of 4, and will be using leftover tickets for the parks. You can use your one-day passes later or upgrade them at some later date. They don't expire until you use them to enter a park

I did that. We had unused tickets. I bought a no frills one day no other option ticket and used that dining option. I knew that on Christmas day we'd only go to one park so it really worked out for us.

On the dining option, we loved it! We finally got to try some fine dining options that had otherwise not been financially feasible for us on previous trips (we're just a family of 3). We ate so much food that we used the snack choices for our trip home. We also didn't have to buy a resort mug for drinks because each meal provides a drink.

Have a magical time! :cool1:
