Ok, so if I rent points for a two night stay next May can I add on the Deluxe Dining Plan for just one of those nights? And, will I have to buy a one day ticket to the parks? TIA.

On DVC points, you do not need to buy a park ticket to get the dining plan. However, if you only want it for one out of two nights, you will have to have separate reservations for each of those nights, and add the dining plan to one of the reservations.
I'm not sure about whether you will have to check out and back in for the 2nd night, but I am sure someone can chime in with that info.

Mary is correct. If you have a reservation for 2 days, you must buy the dining plan for 2 days. If you have 2 separate reservations, you can then buy the dining plan for just 1 day or for just one reservation.

But the plan will have to be paid for when it is added to your reservation. And that means you'll have to pay the member somehow. Or they may not want to go through with the hassle.

Oh, if I rent it will probably be through David's website. So if I do add on a plan I am sure it won't be a problem.

It's still the same. You have to pay for it when you add it to the reservation and you have to work it out with the member you rent the reservation from. David only works to connect members with people who want to rent a reservation.

Hi,
When you purchase the Dining Plan you need to buy it for the length of your stay and for all those staying in the room. The only way to not get the Dinng Plan for all nights if is if you have separate reservations and will be changing rooms or resorts.

This is not exactly correct. Separate reservations, yes - changing rooms or resorts, no. And DVC can connect the separate reservations so they are actually like one reservation. There is a new procedure for DVC dining plans & reservations - your post sounds like you are describing the old way.

So would I have to check in and checkout and then check in again. I am not going to do that. Just too big off a hassle.

With the way the new reservation system is supposed to work, you would not have to move rooms but would have to check in/out (I believe) to get new keys for the night that doesn't have the plan on it.

Not quite. We handle all the details so neither the guest nor the member have to communicate with each other.

With the new system it is done under 1 reservation number but is segmented.

I mean I know I would have to go check in on the 17th, but would I have to go back on the 18th to go check back in for that night. I will not be doing this at all. I just want to check in once and have an automated check out. None of the dining plans are worth this to me.

you would have to buy a park pass only if the restaurant you wish to go to is inside the park.

Please let me ask:
I have ressies for one night at BWVs for my dd, my mom and myself.
Next day, we have 3 nights at THV with my mom, dh, ds, dd, sister/her family and myself, then checking out for a cruise. All on my own points.
The day/night it will be just my dd, my mom and myself at BWV, we know we want to to have a small lunch but want to eat at a nice restaurant, most likely Yachtsman. Would it be best for us to purchase the dining plan for one night for us to use at the Yachtsman or just pay for all in cash? :confused3
Thank you very much.

I don't think the Yachtsman Steakhouse is open for lunch.

It's not. It also costs 2 dining credits per person, so you couldn't book one night on the regular plan and eat there.

Thank you both. I do not want to eat at the Yachtsman for lunch. I want to eat somewhere on the Boardwalk for lunch and then the Yachtsman for dinner.
I never purchased the dining plan before. If I purchased the plan for each member (3 of us), wouldn't we have 3 dining credits to use for dinner?
Thanks again!

Yes, you would have 3 table service credits. Yachtsman would cost 6 tabel service credits for all three of you to eat there.
