Dining plan question

OK, I should probably know this. If we made a cash reservation through MS ( and we also have APs) can we add the dining plan or do we have to be staying on points?

Yes, you can add a dining plan even though you paid cash through MS. They treat those reservations the same way as they do the points reservations.

Just call MS back when you're ready to pay for the DP and you'll be all set.
