I am condiereing purchasing the 160 points of DVC. When you stay at dw can you purchase a dining plan or is that only if you purchase a package with hotel and park passes. This is the only thing that is stopping the purchase.

You can puchase the dining plan, it must be length of stay, all persons on ressie etc same as if booking through the hotels.

The only differences between the DDP and Deluxe DDP through CRO and DVC are that 1) DVC stays are not eligible for the free DDP promotion if it is offered and 2)there is no requirement to purchase a MYW park pass.

While you still need ticket media to enter a park, you can purchase the ticket through any authorized discounter, Disney, or use an AP.

And there is no minimum stay requirment with DVC. You may purchase the dining plans for a stay as short as one night.

If DDP is the key to you purchasing DVC, you'd better think long and hard about your decision. One of the worst mistakes you could possibly make is letting ANY perk influence your decision to purchase. Perks come and go with the stroke of a pen.

Originally we were not allowed to purchase DDP. We can now, and they have recently expanded the availability to any points stays at WDW, but Disney Dining could eliminate our access tomorrow.

DDP itself is also subject to change. DDP 2008 is only the shadow of the plan in previous years. It's significantly more expensive, for much less food, now. We enjoyed it the last three trips, but I wouldn't buy it on a bet now. And they could make further changes down the road.

These were my thoughts too. If the DP availability is "the only thing stopping the purchase", then you will want to take another look at DVC.

I guess the easier way to put it is...are the "prepaid" DVC villa accommodations worth it to you with no additional perks? If your answer to that is yes, then all the current or future perks for DVC will be gravy, and you'll find yourself much less upset if they change or diminish.

A question on the plan--if we buy the regular dining plan for say five days, I know it includes one table service meal per day. But I also know some of the signature restaurants require 2 TS credits. Am I allowed to aggregate credits over the length of my stay and use 2 TS credits from (one from each of two days) or am I limited to 1 TS EACH day? (hope that makes sense).

Yes, you may use 2 TS credits on the same day. You may use all the credits on the same day if you choose to do so. But of course if you do that, you won't have any for the rest of your stay, LOL

Yes. The best place to get info directly related to DDP is on the DDP board. Here's a link to the DDP 2008 FAQ

In that FAQ, you'll find a ton of info on the plan, and also links to the official brochures, etc. for the plan. On the DDP board itself, you'll find lots of strategies for doing just about anything with the plan.

LOL--well, if I eat on the other days I can probably afford to fast on one day! thanks!
