If I'm on the dining plan and eating at the Yachtsman, would I have to pay OOP for a lobster tail if I add it to my entree or would it be included on the plan? Just curious! Anyone try this before?

You can pay extra for anything you want that is not part of the plan - just ask before you order how much they will charge

I cannot speak for Yachtsman, but last year we ate at Captain Jack's (DTD) and the server asked if my DH wanted to add the Lobster tail to his Steak entree. It was on the menu as an extra charge add on but she gave it to us on the plan as part of his meal. Again, don't know if this is the same everywhere. It would be worth asking about.

If you're charged extra when you're not on the plan than you're supposed to pay extra if you're on the plan.

Some restaurants and some servers may not charge some guests but you shouldn't base your plans on getting the extras for free. For example don't plan on getting free extras in order to get enough food to share a meal.

I've also read that some restaurants will allow the add on as an alternative to an appetizer.

From what I understand there is a price limit for each person. I don't know what this is but anything over the amount is an add on. When we added the lobster at YS on our last trip in 2004 they did not charge extra. The servers always tired to get your check as high as possible because there where no limitations. The higher the check the higher their tip. Of course this dinning plan was 67.00 a day per person. Went to RFC in AK and waitress talked us into ordering the 2lb lobster for lunch. OH, the good old days. pixiedust:

In Feb '05, the lobster was, indeed, an add-on...@ Market Price; along w/the 2 TS credits...they threw in the snobby, condiscending server for free.

Bummer and double bummer. I don't think I'll be getting the lobster tail if I have to pay OOP (I don't need it that badly!). And I sure hope I don't get the condescending server!

When we ate at the Yatchsman in September we ordered the Land and Sea dinner...which is filet mignon and lobster tail. Price was $55.00 and there was no extra charge as it was the entree. If you ordered one of the other entrees and added the lobster tail on then you would have to pay out of pocket for it. The land and sea dinner was awesome. We had shrimp cocktail for appetizer, the land and sea for an entree and shared the dessert sampler and coffee and the bill was 186.00 for the two of us (tax and tip included). We used 2 TS credits each for dinner and didn't have to pay for anything...except we did leave an extra tip. It was great!
