We are just back from a fabulous vacation at the world. We had the best time! And we had great food on the dining plan. I'm not sure what the Dining Plan will hold for us in the coming years, but it was a great value for us this year. We went to all places we have never been before (except the Storybook Princess Breakfast). Just wanted to give everyone alittle update on the places we ate.

Cast of Characters:

Me, Mom - Likes to eat most foods and willing to try almost anything

DH - Likes to eat most foods, but eats mostly american standard fare

DD 9 - Loves hamburgers with mustard (no ketchup!), french fries and green salad. Will try new foods, but almost never likes them

DD 7 - Like me, eats almost everything and willing to try anything that is placed in front of her!

Day 1 (Arrival Day)
Colombia Harbour House
We arrived early, but I didn't make an ADR because we didn't want to be rushed (you never know how long travel time will take when you fly and we used the magical express from the airport). So we chose Colombia Harbour House because we were at MK. The adult meals were good, I got the fish and chicken combo, it was alot of food which was good because DD 7 got the macaroni and cheese and did not like it, so we shared my meal which she loved;) . DH got chicken strips and enjoyed it also. DD 9 got the kids meal chicken salad and ate every bite. She said it was good and fresh. For dessert, we got the chocolate cake and the apple cobbler and both were very yummy (I was actually suprised at how good the desserts were!)

Day 2
Princess Storybook Breakfast at Arkshus
This was a must do for us. We did it last year and it was one of our favorite meals. It did not disappoint this year. The food was great and the princess interaction was fantastic.:goodvibes We were let in about 5 minutes after check in and the girls got their picture taken with Belle and then we were seated. Our server was amazing, our coffee and juice was always filled and he brought an extra plate of the hot food before we even asked (I guess we looked hungry!) The hot food consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and cheesey potatoes. The potatoes were amazing! The princesses were coming fast so my DH went and got us fruit and sweet rolls from the buffet, which was all very fresh and yummy (he had to go back for more;) ). The princesses that came to our table were Jasmine, Aurora, Snow White, Mulan. I would recommend this meal for anyone who likes a good, hardy breakfast and of course any little princesses!

Wolfgang Puck Express at Downtown Disney
We choose to try this for dinner. It was our fist time and it was definately the best CS meal at Disney. (We ate here twice because it was so good!) DH got the chicken ceaser knife and fork salad. It was one of the best salads I have ever tried (anywhere!). It was a ceaser salad over garlic flat bread and the chicken was tender and perfect. I got the BBQ chicken salad and it was very good, very fresh, very tasty and so large that I could only eat about half of it. Both DD's got a pizza which was so large neither of them could finish it, but both decided it was the best pizza anywhere (and believe me, they know pizza;) ). For dessert we got the creme brulee, brownie and cookies, which we all shared so we could try them all! It was so much food, that we brought one of the cookies back to the resort with us because we couldn't finish it all. Everyone should eat at Wolfgang Puck Express. It was one of the best meals of our trip and definately a great deal if you are on the dining plan.

Next up will be Days 3 & 4 (McDonalds at AK, Boma, ABC Commissary and Kona Cafe)

Any questions, ask away!!!

Thanks for the reviews! We are debating about WPE and Earl of Sandwich for tomorrow afternoon once we get to WDW. I still can't decide! Both menues look soooooo good!

Day 3
Restaurantosaurus at Animal Kingdom
For lunch we chose Restaurantosaurus because Tusker House was closed and I wasn't sure if the girls would find something to eat at Flame Tree BBQ. So anyway...DH got the double cheeseburger, I gave my adult meal to my DD 9 so she could have a cheeseburger and me and DD 7 got the chicken nuggets happy meal. It was McDonalds...so I don't have alot to say about it...we were not hungry when we left, so I guess it was good:cool2: .

Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge
We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and I have read some great reviews on these boards so we all wanted to try this. We were seated as soon as we checked in. Our server was fantastic and refilled our drinks quickly and often and our plates were quickly removed when we were finished. I know people here love this Buffet, but it was not a favorite of ours. Everything was hot and fresh (or cold if it was supposed to be), but alot of the flavors were not to our taste. The prime rib was really good and had great flavor, and the salmon was great. The desserts were really good....Really good!! The Zebra Domes were amazing!!! All and all I think this buffet was good and worth trying, if you like more interesting spices.

Here is a pic my DD's playing the drums outside of Boma after dinner.

Day 4
ABC Commissary at MGM Studios
I know (almost) everyone says not to eat at MGM, but we were there and hungry....so....We had lunch at ABC Commissary. I had the fried fish and DH had the Cuban Sandwich, DD 9 had the chicken nuggest and DD 7 had the kids fried fish. Believe it or not...it was all good. DH said it was not the best Cuban Sandwich he ever had, but ok (he ate the whole sandwich, so it couldn't have been bad;) ) and the girls and I shared all of our meals (because I wanted their grapes and DD 9 wanted my french fries). We had the chocolate mousse for dessert and again I was suprised at how good the desserts were at the CS restaurants (but maybe it's just my love of chocolate:) )

Kona Cafe at the Polynesian
I have been waiting for this meal since we booked it (six months ago). I've been watching these boards, reading everything I could about it. I also talked it up to DH about how good it was supposed to be...So when the night finally arrived, I was alittle nervous that it might not live up to what I thought it should be.

I should not have worried....It was great! Again, we were seated about 5 minutes after checking in for our 6:05 ADR. For our appetizers, DH ordered the sticky wings, I had the crab cakes, DD9 had the green salad and DD7 had the chicken noodle soup. The sticky wings were good, but not the best we ever had...let me explain...We are from western NY, home of the Buffalo Wings, and we LOVE wings (my DH has tried them at almost every bar from here to Buffalo:lmao: and considers himself an expert). So I can see why everyone loves them, if its not something you can get at home, but for us, they were just ok. My crabcakes were very good and had great flavor with the sauce they were setting on. Both DD's loved there appetizers and ate them all up.

For our dinner, DH got the Filet Mignon and he said it was excellent (I tried it and it was!!) I got the Beef Teriyaki and it was so good...My mouth is watering just thinking about it. So much flavor, so tender, so yummy!!! I can't say enough good things about how perfect it was. DD9 got the hamburger which was no suprise and she said it was good. DD7 got grilled Mahi Mahi and declared it "fantastic!" (it must have been really good, because by the time I got around to trying it, it was gone;) ). For dessert both girls got the kids make you own sundae. I got the white chocolate cheesecake and it was amazing. DH got the Kona Cone which was very fun and tasty. Here is a pic of him enjoying it!!

Up next...Day 5...'Ohana breakfast with Lilo and Stitch and Dinner at LaCellier.

Great reviews! Can't wait for more. Hubby sure looked like he couldn't wait to dig into his dessert.

Day 5
'Ohana Breakfast with Lilo & Stitch at the Polynesian
We has reservations at 9:00 am. We arrived about 15 minutes early and as was our usual experience, we were seated in less than 5 minutes. Our server came right over with coffee and juice. The juice was amazing! I can't remember exactly what it was, it was a mix of tropical juices, but all of us LOVED it and our server came back often to re-fill us. Breakfast was served family style and consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and potatoes. Our server also brought a plate of fresh fruit. Stitch, Lilo, Mickey and Pluto came around to our table. Stitch was great!!! He was so funny!!! All the characters spent alot of time with each table. They did a parade which all the children were invited to join in and the girls had a great time. This breakfast food was ok, but nothing great. DH and I both agreed that the eggs were alittle runny and the meat and potatoes were not very hot...But...I'm glad we went to this breakfast because Stitch was great;) .

Dinner at LaCellier at EPCOT
We must have had really good timing during our vacation, because we got to LaCellier about 25 minutes before our ADR. We were expecting to have to wait to be seated...but as usual...about 5 minutes later, we were seated.

This was one of the best meals of our trip.

For our appitizers DH got the Cheddar Cheese Soup and it was very good. We dipped the pretzel bread into the soup and it was soooo good....YUM.... OK, so anyways...I got the Duck Confit under the recommendation of our server (I've never tried duck before, and was not sure I wanted to start now...but I wanted to be a risk-taker, sooo) I was pleasantly suprised, because it was very good. DH liked it also (we like to eat eachothers food, that's why we always order different meals). DD9 got a sour apple smoothie (which she totally loved) and for her appitizer, the celery and carrots, but without the celery, and her plate was filled with carrots! DD 7 ordered the Cheddar Cheese soup and loved it.

For Dinner, DH ordered the Salmon. I ordered the Filet Mignon. Both were amazing! DH's salmon came with some kind of squash that he said was really good and my filet was cooked and seasoned perfectly. By now, I was starting to get full, and wanted to save some room for dessert;) , so DH ate alot of my meal. DD 9 got the kids steak, it was alittle rare so she did not eat alot of it. DD 7 got the hot dog...I know...LaCellier for a hot dog! She ate the whole thing and declared it perfect!:)

For dessert we had Apple Crumble that DH said was good. The Creme Brulee was amazing (the best I ever had) and both girls got the make your own sundae's which of course they ate right up!

Next up Lunch at Sunshine Seasons and Dinner at 1900 Park Fare.

Great reviews!!! Thank you so much for giving us your honest opinion. DH and I are working out which restaurants we want to hit and this definitely helps!

Can I ask which Wolfgang Puck Express you went to? Was it the one in the Marketplace or the one on the Westside? Thanks!

Melissa

Melissa

It was the in the Marketplace. The one on the westside is Wolfgang Puck Cafe (and is a TS meal I think).

Wolfgang Puck Express is the best deal if you are on the dining plan for a CS meal. It was great!

Sorry its taken so long to finish...I got caught up in Thanksgiving and work...but...Here we go!

Day 6
Lunch at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot
We spent the day in Epcot and had lunch at Sunshine Seasons. They have different sections where you can get different foods. It was alittle confusing if you have never been there before and it was busy in there. So, we separated each with one child and went different ways. Two of us got sandwiches, DD9 got the children Ham and Cheese mini sub with carrotts, which she said was really good and ate it right up. I got the ham and salami grinder with Focaccia bread and it was VERY good. DD7 got the chicken leg with mashed potatoes and DH got the pork chop (I think!) Both ate and said it was good. We all had chocolate chip cookies for desserts which were fantastic. This is a great place if you are at Epcot.

Dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian
This was a great meal. We arrived about 10 minutes before our ADR and given a pager. We waited about 2 minutes and were seated. Prince Charming, Cinderella, Lady Tramaine, Anastisia and Drizella came to our table. Everyone was in character perfectly. The step sisters were soooo funny. Lady Tramaine was perfectly "Put Out" about everything. Cinderella and Prince Charming danced around the dining room and it was all very cute. The girls loved every second of it. Ok, now on to the food... I've have read some bad reviews here about the buffet, but we found everything to be very good. Both DD's loved the strawberry soup and our server brought them over a copy of the recipe. (As usual for our trip, our server was great, we never had to wait for our drinks to be served and our plates were quickly cleaned up.) The prime rib was very tasty, the mashed pototoes were really yummy, DH said the chicken marsala was very tasty also. The desserts were VERY good!!!;) Both DD's got ice cream sundaes and DH and I shared a taste of almost everything else that they had!!! This is definately a restaurant everyone with a little princess should try! The character interaction was incredible and the food (while buffet) was very good.

Day 7
Lunch at Wolfgang Puck Express in Downtown Disney
This was the day we left, and because it was sooo good the 1st time, we decided to go back for lunch before we left for the airport. DH got a sausage and pepper pizza which was amazing!!! I got the knife and fork chicken ceaser salad (because DH's was sooo good the first time) and both DD's got the pepperoni pizza. This food is really good. We all agreed that this was the best food and the best deal for a CS meal in ALL of Disney World. All of the food was prepared fresh and delivered to your table. For dessert we shared the creme brule and brownies. We had so much food that we took the brownies with us to eat at the airport.

Well, that's our dining report. Hope you enjoyed it. We had a great time and we are very glad we were on the Dining Plan. It was definatly worth it for us.:)

Great Reviews we are going to 1900 Park Fare and I was getting a little nervous with allof the bad reviews but am gald that you liked it!
