When I emailed to inquire about DVC Members being allowed to purchase the MYW Dining Plan--this is what they responded!!! I'm so excited--this w ould be a great deal for us!!!!
"I appreciate your family's interest in participating in the new Magic Your Way Dining program that
is being offered to Walt Disney World Resort Guests. Due to existing system configuration, this
plan is only able to be sold to Guests booking a package through the Disney Reservation Center at
this time. Since we know this offering would be extremely popular among our Disney Vacation Club
Members, we are currently working with our Information Technology partners to change the manner in
which the plan is sold. Unfortunately, we do not have an estimate as to when this will be
available. Please contact Member Services prior to your next visit for updated information.

Thank you again for your message. We are glad you are a Member of our Disney family and look
forward to entertaining "
YAAAAAHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really need to look into these dining packages. Anyone have any good informational links they can pass on to me?

But how much is it?? I didn't see a price on Deb's site? Is it a good deal?

I think MouseSavers.com has a lot of info on it and they say it's a good deal. If you know anything about that site, they NEVER say any packages from Disney are a good deal, so it must be good! I hope they make it available soon! I also think the DDE card is a good deal but, I know many DVC members are not AP holders, so the meal plan would be a great optioon for them.

Its a great deal. 35 dollars a day for adults and ten for kids. you have them attatched you your roomcard and use them when you want. you have them assigned to the number of nights you are staying. if you have five counter service meals you can use them all in two days and save the sit down ones for the end of vacation or whatever you want. Chef mickeys and other charecter breakfastes and dinners count. they also include snacks, one per day. I also hope they are going to do this for DVC members.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't see how this plan would appeal to most DVC'ers. Since we have the kitchen facilities I'm sure many of us eat at least a couple of meals in their unit during their stay (not a couple per day), so wouldn't the meal plan be spending money for something you won't fully use?

I have a feeling that it will cost us MORE then the resort guests. My understanding is that the resort guests are not suppose to be able to get this with some of the room discounts (like AP) So basically Disney is getting more for the room, less for meals and making money overall. We won't have the "room revenue"

Well...half of us I'm sure use the kitchens but then again, the other half does not like to cook while on vacation and does not use the kitchen at all (with the exception of the fridge and maybe the microwave for drinks and snaks or doggie bags) and that is who it appeals to. Plus, anyone in a studio will not likely cook any major meals...easy breakfasts like cereal and bagels but not a regular dinner where you'd need the full kitchen to cook it. We now after 7 1/2 years of being members are just starting to really use the kitchen and cook for ourselves now that we have 2 small kids and are in a totally different place than we used to be. Prior to the kids though, we NEVER cooked on vacation and always ate out...would have loved a dining plan back then. For that matter, maybe if they offered us the dining plan I may want to use it in the future :confused3 But lots of people don't want to cook on vacation...it's the wonderful accommodations and affordability that were the major appeal to us rather than the fact that they also come with kichens...that was just a nice bonus IF we did want to use it as far as we were concerned when we decided to buy into DVC ;)

I agree with Carol A, if a plan similar to the MYW dining is offered to DVC, I doubt it will be as reasonably priced. Otherwise, why wouldn't they currently be offering it to AP and room discounts, since those ressies DO go through CROs ressie system? They are using the $35/$10 as a way to sell higher priced rooms.

We don't plan to cook on our vacations ever! A big, big part of Disney for us is the food. We make PS's at 90 days for breakfast and dinner and grab counter service lunch. We joined DVC for the washer and dryer in the villa, the kind size bed, and more space for all our stuff! DH plans to stock the fridge with soda, beer, milk and water. We spend as much tme talking about the restaurants we are going to eat at as we do what parks to do! Our big discussion right now is should we stick to our semi-tradition of eating our first dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse or go to the Flying Fish (a big fav of ours). DH and our sons also really like a big character or resort breakfast to stay fueled for the day. Cape May Cafe, Donald's AK, and Crystal Palace are their favorites. We also do both princess ones for DD (and me)! Lunch is sort of a free for all. We all grab whatever we want when ever we get hungry. :) Most times our sons are still full from breakfast and only grab a snack for lunch. When DD was a baby we used to do sit down lunches too, but that was sort of overkill for us! :flower:

:cool1: I believe several people have reported that they were able to get the Dining Plan with the room discounts (I thought I read something on the budget boards about this...). I also was thinking that in the end it might save on maintenance fees/etc. associated with people cooking in the rooms. I don't think DVC Members should be penalized for having the foresight to prepurchase their vacations. [so pretty please...let us get the Dining Plan!!!!]Everyone (DVC) paid for their rooms--just like every other guest. :goodvibes

I know this plan might not work for everyone, but when you realize what a great deal this could be.....I can still hope!!!! :cloud9:

Oh my gosh, I hope its true!!!! :goodvibes Especially for us folks who can't take advantage of the AP discounts bc they only go once a year or every other year, this would be nice. With careful planning, you can save some $$ and that is something to be happy about!

I wouldn't get too excited yet. There is no estimated date. If it's the same people they are working with to get online reservations, it could be a long time.

I think it is great for the people who dont want to cook on vacation. I think cooking on vacation is great if you like that, when I'm on vacation I'm on vacation. I will be having breakfast in but If I could do the meal plan I would. My husband almost did not buy into dvc because of the no maid service, and he feels strongly about me having a vacation also, but I assured him making the beds will not be that big of a deal, as I wanted the vacation club. Even the thirty five dollars a day, that includes tips at very nice sit down meals, and they do cost more then thirty five dollars if you each have an appetizer and desert and that is included. it would be nice if dvc would let us buy a few days worth for those who do enjoy cooking in and then we could use them when we feel like having dinner out. Good day to everyone. Spring is comming soon.

NMW - Im with you! We especially enjoy dinners at Le Cellier, Cape May Cafe and California Grill. I will love the kitchen for breakfast though, and a light lunch after the pool.
