Just wondering what you think about the DDP for a solo traveller? I am considering trying it for the first time, but can table service credits be used for counter service? Or are there any casual sit down restaurants to recommend a solo?

Thanks

They don't let you use the TS credits for CS. I've done several trips in the past as a solo. Sometimes some of the character meals are good for this since you get to interact with the characters. If you aren't into that some of the non-character Buffets are another option. I wouldn't recommend someplace like Whispering Canyon or 50's Prime Time for a solo as they are better with a group.

I liked lots of the TS restaurants in WS as a solo, particularly liked Chefs de France and Rose and Crown.

There are a lot of fine restaurants that I have been to solo when traveling for business and have no issue. There are several at WDW I would go to solo including Artist Point and Jiko. I think Raglan Road (later time for the entertainment and Biergarten would be fun even as a solo. I would do the character meals at Crystal Palace and Liberty Tavern as a solo.

One thing to consider is that the dinner plan is not for everyone and not for every time. Last year we went for a three visit that was appended to a family Florida beach vacation. We felt constrained by the ADRS because at times we had to leave an activity or a line to make the time. (One for example was a CRT lunch which we had only one real option for a dining time.) I wouldn't do the DDP on that type of trip again. (We had young kids. I would consider solo.) This year we had a longer stay and felt less rushed.

If you feel that you may have to convert table service for counter service the math may not work for the DDP.

I would definately be getting the dining plan if my next trip wasn't during the F&WF. Since I am going during the F&WF, I'm still undeceided about the dining plan.

Let's see, what do I think of the DDP for a solo? Well, in September, I'm using it for the third time as a solo. Like a PP, I'd recommend Chefs de France, especially during the day. Be sure to ask for a window table. That way you can look out the window at all the goings on as you eat. A couple times I've been able to watch the chair act. I also love Coral Reef, again (everywhere actually) be sure to tell them you're solo when you check in and request a table with a good view, since you won't have a dining companion to talk with. At Coral Reef, they've always given me a tank-side table and I've had excellent servers. Sci-Fi's a good place for a solo who's not comfortable with solo dining-everyone's just sitting watching the screen, just like sitting at home watching TV while you eat! So to answer your question, I love the DDP. Remember, there's a board here for solo travelers, you might want to check that out.

I go solo to Disney and while I don't do the Dining Plan I have eaten at every resturant in the World Showcase and lots of of others. (I have not done Norway since the addition of the princesses)

I only do the DDP if I am going with or meeting others as I just don't find it a good investment. (I generally do not do a sit down every night and while I do like Jiko I am not that big on the other 2 credit meals so it's just not worth it!)
