Dining disappointments?

Tonga Toast was my biggest disappointment. From atmosphere, to service to the food - we were not impressed at Kona that morning.

Tonight I ate at the Flying Fish. The pasta wasn't great, it was an hour before our food even arrived. To be fair, our server kept us topped up with drinks but the service was very slow and the food wasn't great at all except for the salmon.

We did not like the Crystal Palace at all....bad squished in tables, which made it VERY uncomfortable to get out of your seat for the buffet, and characters...
not a good selection, and bad service.

Not a big fan of 1900 Park fare for dinner....really expected alot more! The selection was minimal, and the service was not good.....also the food was dry or had no taste. Prime Rib is awful! Like leather!

2 yrs ago, not crazy about 50's prime time....service and food bad..no menu!

thats prob my complaint list for now....

Well, we ate at O'Hana on 11/7/08. I don't really know if I'll go back there again. We've eaten there 3 or 4 other times and have always LOVED IT!! This time it took 1 and 1/2 hours for my DH to get a piece of steak cooked well done. I think that is ridiculous. :sad2: Our waitress was very inattentive. We saw her serving other tables that were seated after us and they were finished and long gone before us. We had to request refills many times, for all the time we spent waiting for the 'beef' :rolleyes1 . When they brought out the chicken wings, I had to ask for something to wipe our hands with. (I know not a really big deal, but in the past, they've always brought out the hot wet washcloths w/o asking ;) ) Probably, the most frustrating part was that the restaurant was soooo cold, our food was cold by the 3rd bite. I kept tucking my nose in the collar of my sweatshirt because it was frozen. I'm not exaggerating either. :cold: I finally spoke w/ the mgr because I was beyond frustrated. She couldn't believe how cold it was at our table.
I guess at some point I'll give them another try, but I really don't think it'll be on my next trip. :rolleyes1

How many of you talked to a manager and did they do anything? i am always on the fence when i get bad food at the parks if i should say something or let it roll......

We had our dessert comped at CF after talking to a manager.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned Rose & Crown yet. The food was nasty. My son's kids meal had that "freezer burn/stale refrig" smell. He wouldn't eat it, and I didn't blame him. The best part of the meal was the mushroom appetizer and they have removed it from the menu.

Our waitress was invisible for the most part, and it took forever to get our food. Maybe we should have ordered the fish and chips.:confused3

What was horrible about it? I've eaten here about 5 times over the years and we loved it every time.

Fried Catfish that looked and tasted like Chicken Fried Steak--YUCK!!
Found the other food served reminded me of School Lunch Room Food.

The only disappointment I have had with TS restaurants at WDW is 50's Prime Time at DHS. The food is not great at all and the service leaves something to be desired, even when you are expecting to be yelled at!

San Angel Inn has been getting quite a few dings; we have eaten there several times and enjoy the atmosphere and the food is pretty good. But when we were there during free dining, it took them well over an hour to figure out our bill. They didn't seem to understand the DP at all. There we sat; the park closed, they were cleaning the restaurant, and there we sat. And sat. It was bad.

My worst meal by far was at Garden Grill. I found the food virtually inedible. Rose & Crown, Spoodles and Boma are also on the list of places I won't try again.

I have to say that our disappointment was our breakfast at Chef Mickeys :sad1: . We had read so much on the different boards and we had tried to get a reservation there for breakfast, lunch or dinner on our 21 nights and it was always booked out. So we just turned up one morning on opening as we did not want to miss this restaurant on our trip after all of the good comments we had read. We had already had character breakfasts on this trip at Ohana's, Cape Mays (twice), Donalds Safari at Tusker House and Crystal Palace and we had great expectations particulary as we had loved Cape Mays, Donalds and Ohana's so much that we were really thinking, wow if those were that good and Chef Mickeys gets so may amazing reviews it is going to be so good.

Unfortunately it was not that good, it was ok, but not that good :sad1: . It was no where near as good as our character meals at Cape May's, Ohanas, Donalds Breakfast, we were really disappointed, the characters just blew by, Donald didn't stop at the tables, he waited near the exit and people were queueing to see him, the food was only average. Just not as good as we were expecting unfortunately. Maybe if we hadn't been expecting it to be so good we would have not been so disappointed.

I would have to say San Angel also. It was never really "great" but the last few times it really went down hill. I like Mexican food and really like the atmosphere of the restaurant, but I could eat the food outside for alot less and it's no better or worse.

Worst meal I've had at WDW easily is Big River Grille. Actually it was one of the worst meals I've had at any restaurant.

Steak Diane served with Garlic Mashed Potates and Asparagus.

Sounds good right? WRONG.

If you go here, have a burger and beer.

DH and I both agree on Garden Grill...the only good part of that meal for dinner were the kids cupcakes and the adult dessert. Food was bland and cold.

Went to Hollywod and Vine for lunch...oh that was just gross and none of us felt right the rest of the day.

Chef Mickeys for breakfast. Couldn't stand the long lines at the buffet and the food was just okay.

We have no plans to try any of those places ever again.
