Dining disappointments?

For me, it was definitely the Cape May Clambake. I love New England style seafood, and was really excited about this pick. However, I found the clams and mussels underwhelming at best, and the clam chowder looked so watery and gross that I didn't even want to try it. There were hardly any other seafood options, which just made it feel like a Ponderosa-style buffet that just happened to have (kinda gross) clams.

The boyfriend and I went to Cape Cod in May, where I enjoyed some phenomenally fat and juicy mussels at one particular restaurant, and I remember telling him, "THIS is what I was hoping for at Cape May!"

5. Flying fish-this June- food was A++++ but service was terrible. We had ADR's and waited 45 mins- fine. then they tried to sit us in between 2 large parties of 8 people but it was like we were squeezed in-no way would I accept that in a signature place so offered to wait some more. Then waited again for 20 mins. then it took almost 20 mins to order! After that it was good and food was great but I had abit of a sour taste already. i should mention we have eaten here numerous times and this never happened before.

We had a similar annoyance at FF - we were 5 people sat at a 4-person table, with a chair set on the end, and my 6'1" boyfriend stuck on that end seat. Which, by the way, was next to the waiter's station! However, the food was SO phenomenal that we are overlooking the mediocre service and looking forward to the meal this year ... and hoping it won't happen again.

My worst SERVICE experience was at 50's Prime Time. I have been there twice. Both times there was no interaction from the wait staff, We were ignored. I think it stands out more since I was expecting the wait staff to be fun and upbeat then they barely talked to us.

The worst FOOD was at Liberty Tree Tavern on a MNSSHP night at 8:00. I think a lot of people didn't show for their ADRs because it was only half full. The food was UGH. The meats were VERY dry side dishes were gross. I did like the salad. I am planning on eating here for lunch on my next trip. I hope it will be better

I have had a few issues with both Disneyland and WDW food over the years, but when there is a problem I just say something and they take care of it, this is what I was told to do ages ago when I had waited and said something to Guest Relations and their advice hasn't failed yet. So, bottom line is if there is an issue just say something.

Went to the Wave at the Contemporary in October. Very disappointed. The waitress was great, too bad we can't say that about the food.

Fried Catfish that looked and tasted like Chicken Fried Steak--YUCK!!
Found the other food served reminded me of School Lunch Room Food.

Oh, we actually liked the catfish best. :confused3 Maybe I don't know any better because I am not from the south? dunno.

I've eaten a lot of WDW meals and have to say I can't remember anything that was downright awful. Yes, there was a lot of average but you have to figure atmosphere into the bill.

I agree, a bad server can ruin an otherwise good meal.

Out next trip will be interesting because I was not reading DISboards before and I want to see if the things I read match up to what I actually experience.

For us (2 different trips) they were: Tutto Itialia and the Marakesh. Both lacked any flavor whatsoever- bland, bland, bland, and oh so very "institutional" tasting! Moroccan food by nature is supposed to be quite spicy with loads of flavor, and our "tour" had NONE of that! The Italian veal was tough and lukewarm. We were very bummed!

I love Prime Time, surprised so many had a bad experience!

For us, Rainforest Cafe or Planet Hollywood were the worst.

Oh yes, Planet Hollywood was awful.

This last trip I noticed that my beloved Sci-Fi has gone downhill. The ribs were half fat and the slaw had hardly any flavor. The steak was tiny. And they took those fab 50s movie clips and made the whole reel "kid-friendly". 2 cartoons and a lot of ads for the concession stand. We took 2 WDW newbies here and I ended up apologizing for them not seeing hardly any of the campy clips.

I will say that the onion rings were really good and our server, Jorge, was the best!

We also ate at Narcoossee's and it wasn't worth the money. Our server wasn't in a good mood. I can't even remember what I tried but it was just ok. The server made me feel bad any time I had to ask her for drinks so it just kind of soured the whole experience. DH was so upset that he didn't even stay for desert. He was annoyed and just wanted to leave so we met him in our mini-van afterwards. However, our deserts were very yummy.

I think I am the first to mention 1900 PF.:duck: The food wasn't horrible; it was just ok.:stir: It was disappoining due to the deafening noise from the calliope and it was so crowded I could barely get to the table.:mic:

I can't believe that 50's PTC and GG are getting so many digs. :confused3 We ate at both places on our last trip and the food was very tasty, not gourmet, but tasty. The only issue we had was that our server at PTC wasn't really selling her role as mom, but she was still a good waitress.

Quite honestly, for the amount of money you pay, I was pretty much disappointed in general :sad2: Although neither was bad, I wasn't at all impressed with Narcoossee's or Chefs de France.

In all of our trips the only restaurant worthy of commenting on is Marrakesh. It was terrible! We were seated immediately IN THE FARTHEST CORNER POSSIBLE by the refill station. Had the most boring, personality-less waiter ever! All it was was here it is, eat and get out! And the food was horrible. I grew up around a lot of Middle-Eastern food and we LOVE the counter service in Morroco, but this food had no taste! No presentation. No nothing!

Our two biggest disappointments was Concourse Steakhouse & Akershus Storybook Princess Storey Book (Norway)

Concocourse:
For dinner we went to Concourse Steakhouse, which is not there anymore. We arrived 10 minutes prior to our adr. I checked us in and was told to have a seat and we would be seated shortly. 20 minutes later dh went up and asked how much longer they said we were the next table that seat five. We waited 35 minutes past our adr time and was finally seated.. We waited at our table for oh about 10 minutes before our server came around. Once she showed up she was very pushy and rushed us to place our order. No may I get your drinks she wanted the full order right then. Besides my ds we all had steak. NY strip for the big people and ribeye for dd. To say they were okay is generous. I found mine a bit dry. I like my steaks med-rare so there was no reason while it was dry. They lacked flavor simple salt and pepper were needed. They were all full of gristle and fat. For dessert the younger two got the sundaes. Dss got the Triple Chocolate Cake he said it was moist and good. Throughout the meal our glasses were empty numerous times. The service between meals were slow. And the food itself was just okay. Let me add that our server was so slow and rude that this was one time I wish I could have controlled the gratuity because this waitress was not very good at all. I am not surprised at all that this restaurant is not longer open.

By far the biggest disappointment was Akersuhus!

Akersuhus:
Let me start by saying our waiter was very rude and pushy for the beginning. I asked if iced tea came with the meal I was told they did not even have iced tea in the restaurant. On my way back from the cold bar guess what I saw???? A lady drinking Iced tea. I asked our server again and WOW he found some. lol. Some of the food on the cold bar like the fruit & smoked salmon was very good. However, some of the other looked as if it had sat out through out the morning. Our adr was 10:10 in the moring. The bacon on the hot plate that came to the table was gross. Some of it was soggy, which we like ours crispy, other pieces were no where near done. The princesses were awesome with the kids. About ½ through our meal they started changing for lunch. They were in a hurry to get us out of there. When our first hot plate was nearly through we asked for another and was treated like the waiter was doing us a favor for us. Our glasses were empty often and like I said getting our hot plate re-filled was a task in & of itself. They were very much in a hurry to get us through. The wait staff was rude and down right mean at times. The one Princess dd wanted to see was Belle. She was the only Princess we had not seen. Belle had not came around so we were finished eating but was about ½ dozen tables away so we were waiting for her. The wait staff was very inpatient for us to leave. To the point our waiter came over and asked if we were finished. I explained yes we were done eating but waiting on Belle. He was walking away and said “whatever!” The food was okay, the Princesses were awesome the wait staff was horrible. We were all about ½ sick after eating here dss even vomited.

That is not the kind of behavor I expect from disney

Our worst dining experience was at Sci-Fi last October. We actually ate there in 1999 and it was great, but our recent experience was really, really bad. The food and service was horrible and I am quite sure we will never go back. I honestly don't get how a restaurant can screw up a turkey sandwich, but Sci-Fi managed to do it. Other than that, I can't say we have had any other bad experiences. Oh, yeah...turkey legs are totally gross, IMHO. We are pretty adventurous when it comes to food, and can usually find something positive about every dining experience at WDW.

I dunno I was desprete for food and I triend a turkey leg and it was great although I was straving

We did not like the Crystal Palace at all....bad squished in tables, which made it VERY uncomfortable to get out of your seat for the buffet, and characters...
not a good selection, and bad service.

Not a big fan of 1900 Park fare for dinner....really expected alot more! The selection was minimal, and the service was not good.....also the food was dry or had no taste. Prime Rib is awful! Like leather!

2 yrs ago, not crazy about 50's prime time....service and food bad..no menu!

thats prob my complaint list for now....

I am confused as ever you said that there is no menu I don't think I have ever expreced that

We just returned and I would say Whispering Canyon. The food was just ok (brisket was the worst). Service was ok but very slow. And the nosie was unbearable! And then our dessert order which we got to go was completely wrong. Anyway, I was looking forward to this place and I was pretty disappointed in it.

This past September, Captain's Grille at Yacht Club (dinner). Got great reviews and we were so excited to try it - horrible! They messed up our ADR time and we had to wait about 20 minutes, and when we got in, the place was practically empty!
We were seated so close to another family that the waiter could barely sqeeze between the tables, yet there were empty tables everywhere. We felt like we were imposing on the waiter. Took forever to get our beer/wine order. My prime rib was tasteless and tough. We were not on the DDP, and this was the most expensive, and worst, dinner during our week there.

Just got back about a month ago and as usual I have high expectations and I'm always let down. Every time I go I try to fit in one of the nicer places and never fails the food is not good. This last time it was Yactsman Steak House. Scallop appie undercooked, lobster bisque tasted rancid, steak (some kind of special Australian beef) tough and over cooked, and desert was drowned in liquer couldn't even tasted the strawberries. Yuck!

CRT was terrible.

Coral Reef the same, terrible.

San Angel was O.K.

hollywood and vine is absolutely the worst...there is nothing that even comes close..the food there is brutual as is the service, so yourself a favor and never go there

I was at Hollywood & Vine last Friday and it was disgusting. I can believe I paid 26.99 for it.
