Digital Membership Cards?

Our accounts are all messed up. My login now says "Hello "DH"" and also shows DH as Snow White. That's me. His login also shows "Hello DH"" and shows Buzz Light-year. That's him. Our DVC points are in my name but DH pays most bills and I'm betting the problem happened when he tried to pay dues (apparently only owner can pay?) Or, it may have been that way a while....never mattered before...we had our blue cards, no problem.

But, now we need these virtual cards. I finally figured out how to get to a temporary card in my name....expires 2/28. We are at VB this week. Will be at SSR for two weeks then HHI for several days. We could manage. BUT...we have WBPC scheduled for March and will have to upload health info 15 days before. DVC apparently makes ID info available to Safe Passage. I'm thinking it's a good shot mine will be wrong (or missing) and I wont be able to load vaccine info.

Just venting....I know this will probably require call to tech folks.

There's too much negativity in the world! Leaving for SSR in two days and my digital card is all messed up. I have a picture of my blue card from the DVC site, my physical Disney Visa, and my AP's...everything will work out just fine for this trip; not worried at all. Ultimately DVC will fix the issues and people will move on to the next thing to complain about. Yes it's disappointing that DVC couldn't have all of this figured out when released, but I'm sure there are more important things in this world for us to deal with!

My affiliation changed within the last hour or so.

It’s still wrong but now DVIC is gone.

Go figure.

Yes, there is the online member site we can use to print/download the blue card and they daily extend the expiration date daily but one cast member stated we really need to use and they are pushing getting everyone switched over to the virtual card.

That's not even working for everyone. Some members have been locked out of the Member's Section and can not even print a temporary card. The system wants you to enter "Your Club ID number" and an "Activation Code" before you can gain access to see your account. The Activation Code is a one-time use code that is no longer any good once entered. I had this issue Saturday, got a new AC, and promptly got booted out again Sunday, and the one-time use AC I received Saturday is no longer valid on Sunday. It took 2 calls Saturday, waiting roughly 1 hour and 40 minutes total to get into Member Services to get the activation code. Having the wrong affiliation code of ND is what started this issue. Still locked out now.

I agree wholeheartedly that IT has once again failed. It failed with the initial startup of the MagicBand, using the MagicBand to open the doors to the resort rooms, using your iPhone to open the doors, any and everything with moving between different resorts in the same trip, just to name a few of the times they fell on their swords.

As much as I want to blame IT for this, don't forget there is a VP of DVC, or a VP of Penny-Pinching, or a VP of UnDisney Services somewhere who is likely pushing the department to rush this ill-conceived, money-saving debacle trying to show how much money they save by denying white card members and others discounts.

Because that "certain discounts" text appears in dozens if not hundreds of locations, and it is nearly impossible for any entity to properly update specific terms and conditions on every page where they might occur. As much as I fault Disney's IT and web services, it is not unreasonable for any entity to have a single official terms and conditions page for each set of rules, and update that as needed, while all other references to those terms are vague and open ended. Otherwise even the most well intentioned and competent entities would end up misleading people because you just cannot keep track of every web page, app page, etc where those terms are set forth once you decide to put them on more than one official page.
Very well explained.

I just got here to RIV and bought something in the store. For January, places are being flexible with how and what they will take because they know there are issues.

CM said that resort stores may be a bit more flexible this month-than places like Emporium and Creations, etc in how they will accept ID.

Today, she did accept my screenshot of codes And license. She said once the month ends, they are being told that guests must pull up the affiliations on their phone.

When I asked about the digital blue card, she said those might be accepted for now, and when I shows a white one, she said definitely not supposed to take those.

Now, here was the interesting piece. She said that once the glitches are fixed, the DVC member notation under Membership and Passes will only be there for those eligible for membership perks and it will disappear for those not. This will be the alternative for those not using Magic Mobile.

I’ll be here until Thursday and see what else happens. We are I only doing Epcot but do have sit down reservations each night.

So, based on this,
we may not see any level of consistency in what eligible owners will be able to show until next month. She did say that screenshots will not be allowed long term based on what was told to them because those can be shared.

She also said that some places may be pretty strict and that if DVC Y is not there, or they don’t show the MDE digital piece they might not be given the discount and told to contact DVC.

I’ll post all my experiences at the end of the week. Now going to enjoy the peace and calm of sitting on the waters edge at Riviera.

People are saying that you can get it in Wallet or a Google Pay without adding the credit card.

But thanks for keeping us updated as to how it rolls out. I’ll do the same next week!
I'm thinking this could be very true because I have all my retail store reward cards in google pay and no credit card in google pay. The digital DVC card can probably be viewed similar to a reward card that shows membership, discount and, for Disney, affiliation.

My affiliation stayed as DVC Y, but DVIC disappeared. I'm kinda glad, because it makes the DVC Y pretty easy and obvious to see.

If anything can be gleaned form this information, it's that the CM's are VERY aware of the changes, and the associated issues. It seems that there is significant communication getting out the CM's as to what they need to see, and what they may NEED to look at for acceptance in the interim. It certainly sounds like the days of arbitrary acceptance may be over.

I have read that people have been denied, but right now,I was also told by MS that they are fixing the issue because some grandfathered owners have ND and it should be Y, which is why the temporary cards are still there.

And, while you were successful in using a white card, many were not. I have both and tried last trip to see what would happen. The white card worked about 33% of the times and it never worked at the TS restaurants we went to. So, many CMs did enforce the rules. I almost always have had to show ID.

Per DVC, and the rules, ND means not eligible for membership extras snd dining and merchandise is included in that.

In terms of the word “certain” , what we get changes so that allows them to cover it,

But language is clear that only owners with direct points…or grandfathered are eligible for membership extras…the language you are quoting is from the info letting people know that membership extras themselves are just incidental benefits and not guaranteed,

So, you can’t ignore the first part which states who is eligible for Membership Extras.
Well explained, Sandi

Since Disney did not choose to delineate via actual digital card picture, are the CMs expected to swipe to the affiliations page each time a customer wants to use the blue card perks? Seems super cumbersome on their end when of course they are very busy most of the time.

Having the digital affiliation shown on the smartphone required Disney to develop the interface with two separate systems: Apple and Google Pay. There is absolutely zero chance that this has been done just to replace the DVC blue cards. They must have a long term plan, the CMs currently just look at the smartphone like they looked at the physical cards, my guess in the future paying through Apple Pay or Google wallet will be the only way to get a discount (which will be automatically applied), to save CM time and to avoid abuse.

They didn't it was designed as a replacement to magic bands and KTTK cards as well.

I did nothing to fix my erroneous affiliations. I logged off two days ago, logged back on today and voila! My affiliations are all correctly displayed.

I forgot to add that she said they are getting daily updates as things are fixed and rolled out. So, it does sound like a much better level of communication is happening.

What CM told me is that the guest will indeed be required to swipe into the app and show the correct information in order for them to apply the discount.

So, busy or not, this is the current plan. I am still hopeful this becomes an automatic swipe, but right now, it is is not.

Yeah I just feel sorry for the poor CMs! Too bad they couldn't have found a way to place the info on the front of the digital card.

This is interesting because if guests also have to show ID then what would it matter if someone tried sharing the screenshot? The name on the ID wouldn’t match the name on the screenshot and the discount wouldn’t be given. It would be easier to have the screenshot queued up when getting to the register to speed things up, as well as not having to access Wallet every time (and offering the ability to delete it from the Wallet for those that don’t want to keep it there).

Thank you for sharing!!
