Digital Camera Help

I'm looking to buy a digital camera for myself. Are there any good ones out there for under $150? please help...

Define what you mean by "good".

Do you mean durable?

Do you mean with features?

Hopefully others will help you out here.

But my suggestion would be to go to a Best Buy, and talk with the sales persons. I have found them to be extremely helpful, when I was looking at my first digital camera.

And I don't think they work on commission.

It depends on what you want to do with it. A good site to do some research at is http://www.dpreview.com/

You should check out eBay after you have figured out what camera you are looking for. There are some great buys on models only a year old but still very good to use and supported by the manufacturer's and user communities.

As a general rule, you need a 2 megapixel (mp) camera to print up to 5" x 7" prints, 3 to 4mp for prints up to 8" x 10" and 4 plus for up to 11" x 14" and larger.

Things to keep in mind is can the camera use rechargable batteries, type of memory cards and maximum resolution (picture size in pixels like 640 x 480 or 1024 x 768). The site I listed above has some good information on what all this lingo means.

I just got a 3 mp camera by Nikon (identical to Dan Murphy's) and love it.

I have always loved the Olympus digital cameras. I have one and my dad has used three (not because they break, he just keeps upgrading). Easy to use, good price, and great features.

Also, look for the highest optical zoom you can afford. Digital zoom is nowhere as clear as the optical.
