I need input on a camera for Christmas for my son. Need something easy to opperate does not blur easily. I will buy dropage coverage. Any suggestions? I want price around 100 or less. Hoping for good deal so looking early.

My parents gave these to my 2 kids for Christmas approx 2 yrs ago.

Back then it was around $105 then they bought the accessory kit too which has case, a silicone cover for in-use protection, a floatable wrist strap so it doesn't sink. The last 2 items are great to have when using it in a water park.

It's a shame it doesn't get great reviews but we've never had a problem. Ds12 was in the photography club at school last year and took lots of pictures.
They're not as high quality as my Sony Cybershot but I think it's great for a child that it's waterproof, dustproof, etc.

I'm looking for a camera also for my 10 year old son. Buy.com also has good prices - i'm willing to buy a refurbished one.

I got myself a fancy (well, I think it is fancy!) $200 camera only to find out the waterproof one I got for the kids is superior! Even my sister-in-law who is a professional photographer remarked on how great the photos turned out and how easy to use it is! I don't know if this is still available, but I got it last year (August 2011) for a total of $66 (includes shipping and a float strap):

Kodak C123 Sport 12 MP Digital Camera with 5 xOptical Zoom

The bundle came with an orange float strap and a camera in a blue color. It is a digital camera and also takes video and the best thing is it is waterproof up to 10 ft!! I've taken it to Disneyworld a few times now and to the lake. I have floated along the lazy river, taken it on water rides, and taken it tubing while I have been boating. The camera just floats in the water strapped to my wrist! The pictures are really good and the bonus is that it can go into the pool, water rides, and even out in the rain and you don't have to worry. Since it is waterproof, you also don't have to worry about dust and dirt getting into it as well. It also has an 'easyshare' function that I don't use but others have said they like it so they can easily share their photos on facebook.

So I got this for my DS10 but I LOVE IT!!!!! I am seriously considering getting two more so that both my kids can have them. We all love to be the one taking the photos (especially when we are in the water).

I just checked Amazon and it seems they carry it for $60 but the ratings are only 3.5 stars. Well, for $60, it is SO worth the money!! If you need more bells and whistles on your camera, then this is not the camera for you. But for a child (or a Mom :)), this is GREAT!

***Update - I just looked and the $60 price is for a refurbished camera on Amazon. The new price is $109. I have no idea how I scored it for $66 last year but maybe they have specials??? I still think it is worth it at $109 but I think you should make sure you keep your eye out for discounts - on ANY camera you end up getting!

We got our oldest a refurbished Easy Share from Kodak's website for about $75 a few years ago, and it still works fine. I found a new Easy Share on Walmart's website last year for $60 ish new, and we got that for our younger son. I have one myself that we bought new in 2004, and it still does great!

This one - Olypmus Tough - http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-TG-32...=1349907439&sr=1-8&keywords=camera+waterproof

We have a different model but love Olympus.

2.7-inch LCD display
14 Megapixel
Shockproof (5 Ft)
Freeze proof (14 Deg)
Waterproof (10Ft); Dustproof

It's a little over $100 but well worth it IMO as it can be droppped from up to 5ft and is waterproof incase left in rain or taken to beach (it's dust/sand proof too). So, with a 10yo boy, it's going to last a lot longer.

Found a great deal on a Nikon Coolpix 3300 at Best Buy online. It was $100.99 I had a coupon that brought it to $90. I think it was $139. It was cheaper online than in the store. Has great reviews on several websites. Got free shipping to the house great deal since the store is 30 minutes away. Now to find a good deal on Ipod touch 4th gen. Love checking the big items off my Christmas list. Thanks for all the suggestions.

It's not the cheapest place, but if you buy from Apple they will ingrave it for free. It was also free shipping IIRC. Of course if someone really wants to steal it they will but if it's found by an honest person (like ds12's Nintendo DS & my camera once were) it has their name & cell phone engraved to hopefully get it back.

Thank you for starting this post OP :thumbsup2

Ds (soon to be 7 tomorrow) told us last week he wanted a camera that isn't so hard to use and doesn't take so long to turn on.

I was able to find the Kodak Easyshare C123 at a WM an hour away and we made the trip Friday night. It showed up when I searched the camera and walmart together. It was $59 at that store and the only reason they had one was because it was in the back room and not on the sales floor. They held it till we got there. It got good reviews from several sites.

So thank you for starting this - we only had a few days to fill the request and a limited budget so the timing was perfect! Now we're debating on letting him take it to Disney this week.

LOVE this camera. It's so cool to take pics in pools and underwater. It's a great Disney camera because you don't have to worry about rain or it getting wet on rides. Plus, it's nice and small. This is the one I sent with my oldest on a skiing trip. We've have an older olympus waterproof camera (it goes 5ft deep) for over 4 years. I lend this one out to friends and let my younger kids use it. Still takes great pictures.

Did u call the store and have them hold it for you? i see it online sold out at 69.99 and it says at my walmart store - "limited supply" just wondering if i was to call would they hold it for me - anyone know?
