Differences from 'regular' booking???

Ok, so I got my paperwork, wait for the closing, then it's time to have fun!!!!

I call DVC to book my vacation???

Do they handle my length of stay passes???

What about airfare, transfers, etc....

What packages do you buy when you go???(i.e. discovery magic, deluxe magic, meal plans, etc.)

Member Services (that's the division of DVC that handles reservations) will book your resort plans and make your airline and car rental arrangements if you like. They can also make your PS. They do not handle tickets. You can purchase your LOS when you check-in but as a DVC member you may want to think about other options since you will probably be returning fairly regularly. Other multi-day passes can be bought when you check-in and AP passes can be purchased at the Guest Services booth at the entrance to any park or at the DD booth.

Your room is "paid" for so you are no longer dealing with any packages. Currently, there is no meal plan available to DVC members. (They did have several different versions in the past.)

You'll call DVC Member Services. Yes, they can book your airline if you prefer, but I'm the kind of person that likes poking around on the internet. (I found that right now, it is cheaper to fly Delta Saturday, Tuesdays & Wednesdays...I saved $80 pp flying on Wednesdays instead of Thursdays) Especially for airfares. Member Services can also book your dining PSs.

Park admissions can be handled at the front desk during check in Depending on how long you will stay, you may choose a park hopper or annual pass instead of a LOS. I don't know if they still offer the prepaid dining, I never used it, it was always cheaper for us to not use it, since we seldom get beverages or desserts. Are the magic plans you're referring to the ones available through travel agents? If so, they are not a DVC option, since you book your room with points and pay for park admission separately.

Ok, maybe I can rephrase my original question...............what options do I have with respect to airfare, length of stay passes, meals, etc...........we've tried various things on previous trips but just curious to find out what other members have done..........thanx a million in advance.............

We have gotten a premium annual pass for our last four trips since we were able to fit them into a one year period. Now we bought them again since we plan to fit three trips into the one year period. We are Disney Club members so we can get a small discount on the passes. DVC will give you a discount on the UMP (used to be LOS pass). You can get your UMP when you check in. If you check in early, and your room isn't ready yet, you can still get your passes and head to the parks.

We usually drive since we can do it in one day and a little less than another half day. And it's convenient to have the car handy. Sometimes we ride the bus (especially to MK) and sometime we drive (Epcot, DS) and sometimes we do both (AK). We usually drive to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach.

With your kitchen you can cook where you stay if you like. If not, head out to the parks to eat. There are a few discounts with DVC, but I don't remember them right now. Check with Member Services.

We have three trips planned right now - June 01, Nov 01 and April 02 - all for OKW, our home resort. We plan ahead and take advantage of the 11 month reservation.
