Difference in name on ticket vs license

Already booked my Southwest flights from Chicago to Boston and just realized my drivers license has a bit of an "error" on it. I never noticed before. Without giving my real name, let's just say my name on my license has a space that is not on the ticket.

Example:

Shea Leigh on License / Shealeigh on ticket

My drivers license and ticket include my full middle name, so there should be no confusion about it possibly being my first and middle name, instead of just my first name.

I am travelling alone with my kids and don't want any complications. We are not frequent flyers. Should I have my license fixed before we leave or is this a non-issue?

I'm pretty sure it would be a non-issue, but why not call SW and tell THEM your name is spelled wrong on the ticket. They add the space, and you'll be good when you get your boarding pass.

I agree with you that it is likely a non-issue. But, I think it's her driver's license that is wrong. If the agency issuing the driver's license made the error, they should fix it. Of course, it might be past the deadline for a free fix (I just received my renewal driver's license, so this is fresh for me). I would want it fixed.

A couple years ago I input my daughter's middle name incorrectly. It is "Tanila" and I typed "Tania." I called Delta and explained my error. They said it was not a big deal, but they would put a note on the file in case there was a question.

Someone at work told me that a name change would require cancelling and re-booking (paying current fares, which are higher than what I paid). Spending a day at the DMV for this didn't sound too appealing either!

I just called SW and they said it wasn't anything to worry about. They did not offer to change my ticket, so I guess I'm just gonna go with it.

Legally (using the above example) my name would look something like:

Shae'Leigh

A lot of computers won't take any character other than a letter. So, this really isn't a new problem for me. I have accounts/documents with my name all 3 ways. Ugh. Parents: Don't do this to your kids!

I actually had to go to the DMV for my last renewal (2 years ago) so I'm sure that's when it got changed and I guess I didn't really pay attention. I just told my husband, maybe I should try to get a state ID without the space. Then I'll have it 2 out of the 3 ways - neither of which is how it is on my original birth certificate. lol

According to a friend at TSA ( I had a similar issue with my daughter a couple of years ago), so long as it's only a problem with the FORM or SPELLING of the name, then that kind of discrepancy won't cause you any problems. Obvious typos are also generally overlooked.
