Diez (10) Noches Calientes en la Riviera Mexicana/17 de abril 2011 (4.17.11 Wonder!)

Unfortunately my DD8 has requested to be a werewolf. Something I am going to have to figure out how to make out of fur and old clothes. I was hoping she would have wanted to reuse on of her 6 dance costumes from this past year. :confused3 I may be struggling in October to figure out how to get hair on her face.

Do your schools allow Halloween costumes? They still do it at DD'sh school and even do a parade.
Only costumes of Biblical characters (Christian school) Were there werewolves on the ark?:rotfl2:
Maybe it will work for pirate night. I think Jack Sparrow had a hairy face.pirate:

Is this for the pirate costume or something else? We were looking at patterns today, and by that I mean, "What can I come up with without getting too complicated?"
I'm not even sure where my sewing machine is. Even DD asked if I had ever sewn before (Thank-you for you vote of confidence) The thought of the FE is scaring me.

This would just be her Halloween costume for this year. I am so bad at this and usually end up looking for something on October 30th! I'm super busy the whole month of October with events (i'm a wedding and event planner), so must begin the search in September!

You can pick up the meals early. It either starts at 11 or 1 for meal pick up. I can't remember. When you pick them up they are packaged really nice and they give you a bottle of soda of your choice. We picked ours up around 5pm bc that is when we got there for the day. It is def the way to go when watching WOC. I loved the tote bags we got for ordering the meals online too!

They have been selling out of the meals about 1-2 weeks in advance so I would try to buy them a few weeks before.

Yes right now the 1st show is at 9. I think that will change as the sun starts setting sooner. Madison (5) was trying to keep her eyes open by the time the show started. She was asleep by the time we got to the exit gate after the show. It will be nice if they move the time up a bit.

If anyone has special needs or requires wheelchair seating the wheelchair section in Blue is great! We were further back away and seated up higher. We could see everything and did not get wet at all. We were prepared to get wet but were happy when we did not.

Oh talking about this makes me so excited for the last weekend of the month. We can't wait to return to DL for the weekend. The HOJO AP rates of $59 are just wonderful, we can't pass them up! The girls love the pirate pool area and the rooms are great. It is so nice to be right across from the park and access to mimi's and mcdonalds so close to the hotel!

Thank you so much for posting this WOC info - we are headed to DL on Sunday, staying at the DL Hotel - we can't wait! We only live 15 minutes away but it still feels like a getaway! Has anyone gone to see WOC at the later shows? Are there still huge crowds at the 10:15 and 11:15? Not sure if the girls can stay up that late but if the crowds happen to be less... Also, I assume the picnics are only for the 9pm show?

When we left the 9PM WOC show the que to get into the 10:15 was almost to the ice cream store at the front of the park! It looked miserable. It looked like those people were there for a LONG time! I would suggest the 9PM and get out of dodge, hehe

Thanks for the heads up. I appreciate it! We have the so cal select passes so I'm expecting that there will be alot of passholders that will be wanting to see the show, since our passes are good this next M-Th. I was hoping that the later show might be less crowded. Are any fellow cruisers planning to be at DL next week?

I forgot to mention that as a newbie I haven't posted much but I have appreciated reading about all of the excursion info, and the excursion info links on the cruise webpage. Very helpful!

We can meet you there! :wave2: Send me a PM with your number. Since you are staying at the hotel, get to the DCA entrance in the Grand by 9:15 to go in early to get your tickets for WOC. Be sure to have your room key or they will not let you in. If you can't make that, be at the main entrance of DCA by 9:30, and you can get your tickets at the Grizzly River Rapids fastpass line. It doesn't take too long if you get there between 9:30-9:45. We were at DL this morning. Super hot and super crowded. Not a good combination:sad1: Start collecting those fastpasses early!

Does that mean we should book the pirate ship ASAP? Is this one that DCL will list as a shore excursion?
Also, what happened to the stop in Cabo?

Since DCL has booked the ship for the day we are there it's unlikely the tour company will let you book independently, but it won't hurt to ask. I think Sandy is worried that by the time she can book excursions (75 days out), this tour will already be sold out. But I've heard that DCL releases reservations in blocks at each reservation date, (i.e. a certain percentage at 105 days, a few more at 90 days, etc.) so you should have a chance at them as long as you book as soon as you can.

Eesh!! I'm so new to this, I'm totally lost. So there is just a slim chance we'll get to do these fun excursions? Now that I've told my family how much fun they are!:sad2:

EXCITING!!! Is it just me or is the DCL Pirate Excursion way more expensive than the independent one??? I told hubby the prices and he pretty much said we will stay on the ship. I can convince him otherwise though :)

Yes! Personally I would love to NEVER get off the ship.:goodvibes DH likes to do things but not too much if that makes sense.

Here's a secret: DH thinks his blackberry doesn't work on the ship. PLEASE DO NOT TELL HIM ANY DIFFERENT, LOL.
Michelle - Did you see this post... shhhh don't tell your DH

Michelle Excursions through cruise ships are generally higher priced than if you book them through the source. Typically it was done to offer you some security that if you are on a cruise ship excursion, you were guaranteed that they would watch out for you or not leave you behind. But on 2 DCL excursion that I was on, I am not sure they would be able to tell if we were there or not. If we didn't make it back to the ship, they would probably check with the venue to see if we were still there or not.

Hopefully you can still convince your DH to still go.

No, I think you have much better than a slim chance! :thumbsup2 Lots of people don't book excursions in advance at all; they just wait and see what's available once they're on the ship. Being with all us over-planners on the DIS boards just gives the impression that everyone on the cruise is going to jump on line to make reservations the very second their booking window opens. (And many of us will - whether it's necessary or not...:rotfl:) On my first Disney cruise I was able to get all the excursions and reservations I wanted at the 75 day mark, but even if I hadn't, there are cancellations all the time and some of the reservations are held for on-board booking. Don't worry - I'll bet you get to do all those fun things you're planning! :goodvibes

The indie one is the same price with 15% discount booking it on-line. Figuring it just off the ship the price is still right for us. :thumbsup2

I never heard from the company, I figure this is why. I will still try and see if we can book through them independently.

Could this be one same ship that both Disney and the Independent company use? And DCL just does a buy-out of their pirate ship? Or are there two (or more) completely different pirate ships?
