Diez (10) Noches Calientes en la Riviera Mexicana/17 de abril 2011 (4.17.11 Wonder!)

He will be home in November/December and we have our fingers crossed that he will fly in the day before we depart for our cruise. He is anxious to be on the ocean!

Susan it's well deserved...we will keep him in our prayers! :grouphug:

Actually not that concerned...We live close to the boarder and don't hear that much about violence that has been reported on the news. Sometimes I wonder if the news sensationalizes things.

We are taking an eastern Caribbean NYE cruise and now everyone is up in arms over the Shooting at St Thomas. From what I understand it was a single event, but since it was a cruiser that was hit with a stray bullet, it has people very worried now.

Can't wait till you get back to hear all the wonderful details about your cruise.
I'm so jelous:boat:

I didn't hear about that one. I don't have the news on much. DH is in Afghanistan so I'd prefer not to hear about the violence. I know, head in the sand...:scared:

I would be the same way. We will keep him in our prayers:grouphug:

How is everyone's eles doing?

My girls go back to school in 3 wks:teacher:So our summer is almost over:sad2:

I'm hoping that disney releases the MR excursions soon so we can start planning:surfweb:

I found an excursion in the old passporters guide I would love to do. I will see if I can post it from an outside tour company. I would like to book with them because there cheaper but we think will be safer with Disney:confused3

I found this at www.wdwinfo.com

Puerto Vallarta

This one does look like fun! Our little ones will be 3 and almost 4 so it would be nice to do something like this with them.

Has anyone with a GTY room gotten their assignment yet? I saw on the boards that some of the Dream cruises for next May (I think) have already been assigned. We have a GTY booked and no room assignment yet.

In the past I thought DCL only assigned the rooms a couple of weeks out.

Is anyone concerned about the safety of excursions in Mexico? They previous posts on this topic got me a little worried.pirate:

we have been taking the kids o PV and playa del carmen since dd was 9 months old and have never felt uncomfortable with them there.
Most people who find them selves in trouble put themseves in a situation that they would never put themselves in at home

The Pirate ship is what we're hoping will be available next April in PV. Snorkeling and a show. :dance3:

We too have a GTY but no room number as yet. The Dream tech's are probably training on the system. I would think that stateroom assignment should come after final payment. :confused3 But I have also read that sometime a GTY room can change a number of time and we really won't know until we get to the port.

I do think that the younger your kids are the harder it is to find excursions that the whole family can enjoy. Cory and I aren't to the point yet that we feel comfotable leaving our kids on the ship and doing an excursion without them.

Yes I do agree. I think if you use caution than you should be fine. On all the crusies we have been on I'm always suprised how many kids I see by themselves at the pool or running around the decks.

It would be fun to know other families on that excursion. Lets hope they offer it.
Also, did you see that the DL ticket prices are going up on Sunday? I'm going to purchase mine on friday for our december trip. Have you purchased yours yet?

Would my 19 y/o DS enjoy it?
I can't find info on the ticket prices. Do you know what the new, higher price will be? I purchased a couple of the Costco tickets for friends yesterday. You get 4 day tickets, good until 5/31/11,and the activated $50 Disney Gift Card. Cost is $199.99 They are hopper tickets, good for age 3 and up. I'm sure these will be around for awhile, so wait and see what promotions are coming up.

Yes...I'm praying it is... JoJo is sooo into pirates and Indiana Jones. :thumbsup2

I know :scared1: ...I haven't been able to convince Danny yet and I really need to get the hotel and ticket soon.

I have just read in the book about the shore excusions so I don't know anyone who has ever gone on one so I'm not sure your DS would like it or not. It does sound fun to DH and I and were in our 30's:)
The hardest part for my family is that Lani(age 7) isn't old enough for a lot of the excusrions the rest of us would like to do. Most(through Disney) are age 10 and up like horseback riding, canopy tour, and kayaking so were limited to what we can do as a family.

As for ticket prices so far its just speculation on the last 2 yrs of WDW and DLR ticket price going up in August so everyone is just assuming they will do the same this yr.

I did see the Costco deal but we need 6 days tickets. I have found info from last yr that there where no ticket promotions for the fall/winter so I think my best bet is to just buy the tickets tomorrow through Disney web site. To save at least a few $$

I wish I knew how to help with that one;) Cory loves to go on vacations so its not hard to convince him at all. Its his company that only gives him a few wks off a yr:rolleyes:(they must not know/care how much I like to travel:lmao:)

Look into the tickets prices at AAA and also www.arestravel.com. They can usually beat the Disney prices by a few dollars, and you may get the bonuses, like Morning Madness tickets:laughing:. You can also get tickets for Character Dining through Ares, although you will get that on the ship, so you may not need it. I highly recommend the Character Breakfast at Storytellers Cafe at the Grand Californian. Great food (all you can eat) and the characters are the 'Woodland Creatures'

I just caught up on about 6 pages postings. :)
I hope everyone is doing well. Unfortunately, I've gotten some terrible news, which is why I've been absent for a while.
I got LAID OFF! :confused3 :scared1:
Anyway, I had to cancel our vacation for this summer, but I'm going to try to hang on to this cruise. Is that wrong?

So sorry to hear your news. We know all about layoffs in my household. Hope you'll get to hang on and still join the cruise in April. It's still a long 8 months away, so hopefully your situation will change before then. I'm wondering how you all can afford so many of these cruises?! Yikes, they are pricey! Hey, what city are you in? I'm about 15 minutes from DLR. Lots to do around town for a Staycation.

Thanks, we're in Torrance. We were just at DLR yesterday. The last day on our annual passes. :sad1:
We weren't doing a Disney cruise this summer, though. We can only afford DCL every few years. The way we made it work was to book onboard for a cruise at least a year away and make payments. I am hoping we can hang on to this one. We got the KSF promo and already have quite a nice chunk paid off. We'll see how things go once school starts again. I figure I've got until 90 days before the cruise to cancel, right?

We are in Lakewood. We were in El Segundo today for toy testing at Mattel. If you're not signed up, you should be. You are so close, and FREE TOYS (Gift cards for the Moms) Too bad we didn't hook up before your pass expired. We were there on Monday. Praying your job situation turns around soon.
So if you book onboard, you get the next one for less?

Jennifer sooo sorry to hear. :headache: We too know all about being laid off. Danny is in construction and the past 2 yrs have been 5 to 6 month off work each year...really sucks!

Laura (M2DD's) That's mostly why he hasn't okay'd to DL trip...yet. ;)

Oh no, I am so sorry about your job.:sad1: Hang in there and think positive, something good will come your way. I always like to think that everything happens for a reason.

I just looked at our cruise website and saw the cute picture of your family. I also noticed we are SPH neighbor's. We have the connecting 5522 & 5524. I have to apologize to you now for our loud kids. I will try to put them in 5524 so they do not disturb you as much. At least you are a fellow DISer:)

Good luck with the job hunt. You are right, hang on to the cruise as long as you can. And if you have to cancel, let Laura (Lucky1) know ASAP, because she is on the hunt for a SPH. I think you have until final payment, and I believe for this cruise it is 120 days out, Dec. 18th I believe.

So sorry :sad1: Hopefully something will pop up for you. These last couple of years has been a really bummer for so many people and I was so hoping we were coming out of this slump.

Kristi - Thanks for watching out for me :) Plus, thanks for reminding me that final payment is DUE earlier than normal.
