Diez (10) Noches Calientes en la Riviera Mexicana/17 de abril 2011 (4.17.11 Wonder!)

We are in Lakewood. We were in El Segundo today for toy testing at Mattel. If you're not signed up, you should be. You are so close, and FREE TOYS (Gift cards for the Moms) Too bad we didn't hook up before your pass expired. We were there on Monday. Praying your job situation turns around soon.
So if you book onboard, you get the next one for less?

Thanks, I could use all the prayers I can get. We're hoping to be able to get socal select passes. We've always had Deluxe, so it's a step down but it's better than nothing. It all depends on how many subbing jobs I can get. If all goes well, we'll try to get some end of Sept/Oct. Maybe we can meet at DL then?
Yes, we booked a future cruise on board and that gets you 10% off the going prices on whatever cruise you book and an onboard credit. However, we had to drop it to get the kids free. Saved about a grand, definitely worth it:thumbsup2
I would love to know about the toy testing, please pm/email me, how do I sign up?
Thanks!

Jennifer sooo sorry to hear. :headache: We too know all about being laid off. Danny is in construction and the past 2 yrs have been 5 to 6 month off work each year...really sucks!

Laura (M2DD's) That's mostly why he hasn't okay'd to DL trip...yet. ;)

Whereabout in California are you? To make things worse, not only did I get laid off, but we're in the middle of a relatively large room addition. We're too far in to stop construction, but it's just going to drag out the process for us. We're going to be looking for some concrete to be poured for new walkways, driveway. Not sure quite when we'll be ready for this, but I can keep him in mind, if you like.

Oh no, I am so sorry about your job.:sad1: Hang in there and think positive, something good will come your way. I always like to think that everything happens for a reason.

I just looked at our cruise website and saw the cute picture of your family. I also noticed we are SPH neighbor's. We have the connecting 5522 & 5524. I have to apologize to you now for our loud kids. I will try to put them in 5524 so they do not disturb you as much. At least you are a fellow DISer:)

Good luck with the job hunt. You are right, hang on to the cruise as long as you can. And if you have to cancel, let Laura (Lucky1) know ASAP, because she is on the hunt for a SPH. I think you have until final payment, and I believe for this cruise it is 120 days out, Dec. 18th I believe.

Oh! Thanks for the due date. I'll definitely write that down. I'm trying to think positive. Having to substitute teach has it's upside. I get to go home at 3!!! :cool1: Spend more time with my family, which is the best part.

Don't worry about the kids, we've got them too! We tend to stay up late, and sleep with the tv on, but low, so I hope you can't hear it. We've never had someone complain, that we know of.
I'm glad we're going to be in our DIS corner, we can look out for each other's magnets & FEs. :)

So sorry :sad1: Hopefully something will pop up for you. These last couple of years has been a really bummer for so many people and I was so hoping we were coming out of this slump.

Kristi - Thanks for watching out for me :) Plus, thanks for reminding me that final payment is DUE earlier than normal.

Hi Kristi, I'll let you know should we decide to cancel. If you can (and want to) pm me a few dates before the due date and I'll let you know what's going on. Thanks!

Kristi, can we be added to the FE list?
DisneyManFamily4 (Jennifer)
DH Seth, DS Anthony (14) and DD Madison (9)
Thanks!!

Sorry we're in Fresno and Danny is a Heavy Equipt Operator, still plays in the dirt. ;) Would be nice if you were close...we know sooo many people in different trades. I am also going to be a Health Aide/Clerical sub this years. I actually like having off when I need or want. :rolleyes1

It does seem nice, to have some flexibility with my schedule. That's another reason why I'm trying to hang on to this cruise. I can vacation without guilt over leaving work. :goodvibes
I'm hoping to find a small second job to give us a little more wiggle room in the monthly budget.

Totally against character I've been extremely quiet on this rockin board. I don't want to bore everyone, so we'll just leave it with, I've been having technology issues. Looks like I might finally be back operational.

For our awesome list keepers, DGD will be 8 for the cruise. So our mob is Me (no age allowed. ;)), Adult daughter (no age allowed. ;)), DS 15, DD (8), and DGD (8). If you're wondering, yep youngest daughter and granddaughter are the same age, only 4 months apart.

FE... hmmm.. I can't seem to decide. As fun as the last two were - and they were lots of fun, the kids loved them, I was SO stressed for most of it. Figuring out what to buy, making sure I bought enough, trying to find time for delivery. The first one we did they had no cutoff day, so last day, people were joining up and I was scrambling to buy more, and the list already was SO large. :scared1: Anyway, we are discussing strategies so we can participate but minimize the stress, and I'll let you know as soon we decide.

Just bought a new camera and can't wait to try it out on our trip. This is our 3rd Disney MR trip, but we're just as excited as the first time. We've already reserved Randi's Happy Horses in Mazatlan! :woohoo:

Okay Jennifer, you are on the FE list. I will try to keep my kids down to a loud roar, I cannot believe how loud they are. My 2 year old is the one I am worried about, he still cries a lot at bedtime and wakes up crying and disoriented a night. It makes traveling hell, since I am always so stressed about disturbing our hotel room neighbors. That is my goal the next 8 1/2 months, to get him to become a better sleeper. If he wakes you guys up in the middle of the night, I will put some extra treats in your FE:goodvibes I am hoping he is so worn out from the ship and activities, he will be asleep before his head hits the pillow.

No hurry on the FE decision, I totally get it. We are going to visit our FE list in January and decide when to cut it off and maybe break it up into smaller groups. We don't want to stress anyone out, it is supposed to be a vacation. We will have a cut-off date, and if we have late comers they can have their own group.

I know what you mean about stressed out, I am thinking day and night what I want to do for our FE. I know we have 9 months, but I want to get it done ASAP. I would like to get the bulk of my FE's done before Christmas.

So cool you have been on the other Disney MR cruises. Would love to get your advice on activities for kids in the ports. I have heard great things about Randi's Happy Horses, but my youngest is going to be almost 3 and I think he is too young. Lucky1 is riding with Randi too. Maybe you guys will be on the same ride.

This is going to be the smallest room the group of us have ever been in, usually we space to spread out. So being such a light sleeper, I've been considering bringing earplugs so I can actually sleep. Anyway, when I read your post to Jennifer - I thought "Now that's a useful FE gift - earplugs." :lmao:

Knowing there is a cutoff date helps alot.

We're very excited for the horse back riding, this is the first time the kids are old enough.

In 2005 we did the following excursions. Our favorite was the Cabo Resort Pool Getaway, the beach was beautiful, but no swimming – watching the wave’s crash was frightening! What made this place was how wonderful the people and service was. They did a piñata for the kids, they painted a ceramic and the kids had a great time. Followed second by the Puerto Vallarta Paradise Beach where we played in the surf and had a great time.

Puerto Vallarta Paradise Beach Adventure (4 hours)

Paradise found! A ride of approximately 20 minutes takes you to the beautiful Paradise Village Beach Resort in Nuevo Vallarta, where you'll be welcomed with a complimentary cocktail. Then you're free to simply relax on the beach or explore and enjoy the resort's many offerings, including a swimming pool with two waterslides, underwater caves and Mayan- style pyramids to explore. Lounge chairs, umbrellas, and ocean kayaks are included, and children and families can enjoy beach volleyball and other activities, or visit the resort's resident spider monkeys, lions and tigers. Snacks and lunch items are available for an additional charge. It's a half-day of fun before the approximate 20-minute ride back to the ship.

Mazatlán Beach Escape (4 - 5.5 hours)

An all-around good time! Bring your swimsuit and beach gear for an excursion that takes you to the Mazatlan waterfront for fun in the sun and a memorable meal. It all starts with a scenic ride of approximately 20 minutes to Los Sabalos Resort, where a friendly escort will introduce you to the hotel's amenities, provide you with towels and a place to change for an afternoon of swimming, sunning and relaxing, including a delicious Mexican lunch. After 2.5 - 4 hours at the resort, you may choose from two departure times for the approximate 20-minute ride back to the ship.

Cabo Resort Pool Getaway (4.5 - 5 hours)

An approximate 10-minute ride takes you to the Finisterra Resort, one of Cabo San Lucas' premier beachfront resorts. Here, you'll have approximately 3.5 hours to swim in the resort's pools, stroll along the beach, and savor a hearty buffet lunch and two complimentary beverages. While swimming in the ocean is not permitted, you'll be able to enjoy the resort's sparkling pools or catch some rays on the beach. Children will also enjoy craft time, when they'll have a chance to paint traditional ceramic figurines to take home as souvenirs of their day of fun under the sun. Beach games, including volleyball and soccer, are also available, so get ready to have a ball! The ride back to the ship takes approximately 10 minutes.

For the safety of our guests, swimming in the ocean is not permitted due to varying tidal conditions. If you prefer a beach swim experience, you may choose the Cabo Beach Break excursion (CL-01).

In 2008 the ports were in reverse order and we did the following, sorry I didn’t keep the official descriptions. Our favorite was Cabo Nikki Beach, it was beautiful, lunch was fabulous and we had a great time. The Magic was docked just off the beach. The Dolphin Encounter wasn’t as good as some of the others we’ve done, but it was still fun. The water was SO cold, most of the family refused to get all the way in.

In Puerto Vallarta, we had Las Calientas(sp?), but DD had a high fever so we stayed in the cabin and missed it, so I can't tell you waht it was like.

:surfweb:

Has anyone done the Underwater Sea Scooters in Cabo San Lucas? That looks like so much fun. How do the Disney shore excursions compare in price to booking elsewhere? What is the age limit for Randi's Happy Horses?

Cabo Dolphin Encounter

Cute pic...was this a nice facility in Cabo? I was thinkin' bout this port adventure for Cabo. Finally have JoJo saying yes to a Dolphin Encounter. Danny and I have done them in the Bahamas and Cozumel and they both were really nice programs. :cloud9: I heard it's right off the ship in Cabo too.

Thanks for adding us!
Don't worry about it. I'm sure it will be fine. We stay up late to the point that we can't keep our eyes open, no matter what's going on around us.

Did you mean Las Caletas Hideaway? That was an awesome excursion! :thumbsup2 I don't even know if that's being offered on this cruise, but if it is, I might go on that one again.

Hello, everyone! :wave2: We are finally back home and (almost) unpacked. We had a great time on our Alaska cruise. Saw lots of wildlife and some gorgeous scenery. It was pretty cold and overcast most of the time, but we reminded ourselves we'd have plenty of heat once we got home - and we do!

DD and I are riding with Randi too! It'll be nice to have fellow DISers along. :goodvibes Randi puts everyone in one big group unless she has too many sign up, then she'll add a later ride for the later signups, but all of us that reserve in the next few months should be in the same group.

Agree - that was a great excursion! Lots to do for all ages.

I think I saw a new cruiser or two on the thread - :welcome:

What age do kids need to be for Randi's?

Here's Randi's response about the youngest age she will take horseback riding:

Hola Dany,
Thank you for asking. The youngest that I can take would be 3 years old.
I have special guides for the little ones and special equipment to make sure
they can't fall off. I hope this helps.
Let me know,
Best,
Randi

Never heard of it, but it sounds cool! I may have to research this!

Thanks! As much as I like this pic, we have one from Hawaii when DD was only 4 and she kissed the dolphin right on the lips! It is a great picture.

The facility was nice, and very close, we walked to and from the facility, but the water was SO cold!!!! :scared1: DD and I were the only ones that would even get in it. The other 3 hung out on the edge shivering. This is the 4th Dolphin Encounter I've done in different places, and other than the one at San Diego Sea World, where they gave us wetsuits - this was the coldest water.

Did you mean Las Caletas Hideaway? That was an awesome excursion! :thumbsup2 I don't even know if that's being offered on this cruise, but if it is, I might go on that one again.
Yep - that's it! See what happens when you have to miss the excursion? You forget the actual name! ;) I'm sorry we missed it - maybe this time around.

We're leaving for an Alaska cruise in 6 weeks! We're so excited - can't wait.

Cool! Not only is it cool to have fellow DISers on the excurstion it also means I'll have people to follow, so I don't get lost at the pier! ;)

Hi Everyone,

I just booked the Kids Sail Free Cruise a couple of weeks ago and we are so excited to not only get a fab deal but to experience our FIRST cruise on the Disney Wonder!

My two kids will be 4 and 2, and hoping the 2-year old is able to enjoy the nursery. My husband and I are looking to utilize the babysitting option.

Nice to see such an active board for this cruise!
