Diez (10) Noches Calientes en la Riviera Mexicana/17 de abril 2011 (4.17.11 Wonder!)

We were at San Clemente State Beach and had a great spot overlooking the ocean. We adopted a 2yo golden retriever. She proved to be a great camping dog and loved every minute of the trip!

It's going to be hard to predict the dining theme/attire schedule since we are the only 10-night MR. I know the shows that are on the Wonder are Golden Mickeys, Toy Story & Disney Dreams and there's usually variety shows (magic, comedian, etc.) and new movies to fill in the other nights.

We love to go camping. We adopted a 1 year old flat coat retriever a year ago. A flat coat is just like a golden but black. Well he is super crazy and active and a runner. We were too nervous to take him camping with us this summer, as we were afraid he would run away. I am hoping to be able to take him next summer.

Does anyone know of the new Disney movies that will come out next spring that could be showing on our cruise? I think POTC4 comes out in May 2011. My DH and I are big movie buffs, but don't get to go anymore because of the kids. We are really looking forward to watching some movies while the kids are in the clubs.

 That is SO sad - it would have been so cool to have POTC4 be out for our trip!

Looking at IMDB - the closest one I found to our cruise was "Mars Needs Moms!"

I thought that in the past Disney released movies on the ship sometimes before they were in the theaters. Meaning, that "maybe" POTC4 may be shown?:confused3 I'm pretty sure we saw some movies that had not been in the theaters yet on the ship. This would be a good movie to see onboard!!!!

I would love to see what excursions everyone was thinking about. :) Here is what we are considering:

PV: Las Caletas through ship or go to Dreams Resort on our own
Mananillo: Thinking about Karmina but have not found any reviews from anyone who has been there. Anyone on here been there?
Mazatlan: Staying on boat & relaxing for Easter: Spa for me & DH
Cabo: Exploring town on our own, might do the dolphin kids

Excited to see what everyone else is doing!

I think we are going to try the following:
PV: The pirate ship excursion through Disney
Mananillo: Staying on ship or staying close
Mazatlan: Riding with Randi
Cabo: a beach resort through Disney

Our excursion plans:

PV: Outdoor Adventure Zipline
Manzanillo: One of the beach resorts; we are leaning towards Karmina Palace. Not a lot of reviews but those few I saw on Cruise Critic were positive and the pictures were gorgeous!
Mazatlan: Horseback riding with Randi, then a half day city tour with Mazatlan Frank
Cabo: Swim with the dolphins

Whew - glad we have lots of sea days to get some relaxation in too! :)

For movies on the ship...I hope we might get to see the animated Johnny Depp movie Rango. Trailer looks really good. It comes out the beginning of March. And Gnomeo and Juliet mid Feb (and it's Dsiney). There are a number of decent movies that will be out Feb-Apr. Don't remember (heard the names somewhere) which studios DCL will run on the ship. I think one was Miramax. :confused3

as for ports we are still HOPING for:
PV - Pirate Ship
Mazatlan - ??
Manzanillo - Maybe the City Tour
Cabo - Dolphin swim, Cabo Wabo, Gigglin Marlin & El Squid Roe (highly recommended by friend that was just there)

Tha's my list and I'm stickin' to it! ...so far...;)

our plans-
cabo-cabo dolphin encounter,explore the town
manzanillo-manzanilho city tour and shoping
mazatlan-mexico folkloric show and sigthseing
puerto vallarta-pirate boat sail and snorkel aventure
just cant wait.tomorow,go to talk to travel agent,to book the final hotels,flights,etc...:woohoo:

This is our plans for now. But of course we have 6 months for me to tweak and change my mind about 100 times.

PV: Los Veranos Canopy, on our own. They also run a city & canopy tour where they pick up/drop off at the port. I am trying to get more info on that. My only problem is our 3 year old. Deciding if we should leave him on the ship or bring him with and my DH or I not zip-line.
Manzanillo: Tesoro resort on our own
Mazatlan: Stone Island on our own
Cabo: Water taxi, beach, maybe the Giggling Marlin on our own

Dany, I saw that you were also doing the Canopy tour in PV. Who are you booking through? Did you see if you book direct with them you get 15% off?

Unfortunately, the Outdoor Adventure is run by Vallarta Adventures and they won't let cruise guests book directly with them; you have to go through DCL. I thought about trying it anyway to get the reduced price and just telling them I'm at one of the hotels, but the tours are almost all booked up already (by the ship probably) and the only availability is at 11:30 am which doesn't work for us. We want to go earlier in the day - it'll be cooler and we'll have some time left in the afternoon to go wandering around PV.

Kristi, have you been ziplining before? We went last year and it was amazing! I'm kinda scared of heights (not really heights so much as falling from them! :scared1:) so I was worried, but after that first jump I didn't even notice the height anymore, only the views! :goodvibes

We have not been zip-lining before, but I think we would love it. My 5 year old is dying to zip-line. He is very outgoing and adventurous. The age requirement is 6 though. My son would be 1 month shy of 6, so I would have to see if they would take him. I am thinking I want to splurge and do one excursion on our trip. I think the other ports we are going to do beach days on our own, so I would like to do something different in PV.

Here is some info I got back from Canopy Tour Vallarta, who runs the Los Veranos Canopies.

The City & Canopy tour is 7 hours.

We do have availability for this tour. The tour starts at 10am from the port and it lasts about 2 ½ hrs. You can combine the city tour with our zip line tour the total price is of $98us per person. We recommend you reserve about 2 months ahead or you can also call us in January to book your tour. If you need any further help you can also contact me at 1-877-563-4113 this is a toll free number from US and Canada.

I am awaiting reply if the price is the same for kids.

That sounds like so much fun. But I think we are already scheduled to do the Pirate Adventure in PV, and don't think we can do both. Or can we? We are there until late in the night.
There is also the canopy tour in Cabo, which some of you are planning on. I don't think I could get DD, 6, on a zip line. She won't even do the fast rides at Disneyland with me.

We are currently planning on:
PV: Pirate Adventure
Manzanillo: possibly Tesoro
Mazatlan: Randi's Happy Horses
Cabo: ??

Kristi, we camp a lot too, usually 5-6 times a year. We have our dog on a leash at all times (except when she's in the trailer)when we camp, so running away is never an issue. What campground do you go to that allows dogs offleash?

Sorry for the additional posts but I haven't figured out how to multi quote.
Helen, to multi-quote, just click on the +" icon on the lower right of the post you want to quote and the icon will turn red. Then you just hit the post reply button on the bottom left of the page and all the quotes will show up.

Thanks for the link. I think the boys will really enjoy horseback riding. I was reading back through some of the posts and saw the discussion about the little one riding. My youngest is 3. Does that mean he rides on his own horse? Have any of you ever had a child ride that young?
I've looked into Randi's too and if we go, Colin will get his own horse/pony. The first time Allison's been on a horse by herself was on a ranch in Hawaii and she loved it, but I think she was 5 and a half. If you guys are up for Randi's, we're in too.

Vallarta Adventures also run Cabo Dolphins; hence, cannot book with them directly to get the 15% off discount. I thought about doing the same thing but DD will have her wrist band from the kids club so it'd be obvious that we're on the Wonder. The only thing we know we'd do for sure is to hang out by the pool at our timeshare in Cabo.

A litte change on plans.
we will arive to los angeles at april 15.
what do you think,of hitting legoland california,on the 16.

Also a year ago from this day my daughter Isabelle, son Danny, my mom and I boarded the Magic for our Western Caribbean cruise. The weather was bad but the experience was amazing. I know the next 6 months are going to zoom by. I am going to upload some pics to photobucket and see if I can post some.

It all depends on where you are going to stay. Legoland is about 2 1/2 hours from LAX, depending on traffic. Disneyland is about 1 hour from L.A and Legoland is about 1 1/2 hours, again this is all depending on traffic which could totally ruin the trip. If you don't want to do as much diving and do a more local theme park, you could do Universal Studios Hollywood, that is fun. It is located right in L.A. There is so much to see and do in L.A.

I think we are going to do Universal Studios after the cruise.

:woohoo::woohoo: It's going so fast!! :banana::banana:

Would love to see them. So you were on the Magic...are there any differences besides the names of bars and the ship?

Gabriela - I totally agree with Susan and Kristi. It's all about where you stay.

Just got word that DCL is releasing some of the 2012 cruise line itineraries, although I don't see them yet. April 2012 there will be a MR, wonder if it will be another long one. I would love to do Panama Canal. Has anyone here done that one? Ooh, and I heard they will be going LA to Hawaii.:yay: I can dream...
Here's what I see so far: http://www.mousesavers.com/dcl2012.html
