Dieting for Disney

timzagain - Way to go dancin' by the photocopier machine!!! Had I been there, I would've been right beside ya! ;)

C_leen - Hope you reach that 160 mark soon!! Talk about satisfying!! :thumbsup2 How many times did you hit that grass??? :D

twotoohappy - You're on fire!!!!!!!!! Yeehaw!! Keep it up! What was your May goal again? To exercise everyday? Sounds like you're well on your way! :thumbsup2

Bubba: How's the house hunting going? Hope you're enjoying that home gym. How's your knee feeling these days?

As for my update, I'm doing pretty well. My food is still so-so, but at least it's better than it has been. My exercising has been great! I ran another 5km charity run last weekend and since then, I've done 3, 5km runs by myself. I can't believe it!!!! My pace is 5.2km in about 35minutes. As you can see, I'm pretty slow, but at least I'm doing it!! My ultimate goal is to do a 10km run in Disney!!!! In between my running, I've been doing pilates and other strength training.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!!!!! :goodvibes

Hey everyone!

CJK - Congrats on your run!

Bubba - I hope that they figure out the issue quickly for you and get everything taken care of.

I have been swamped with work at the house lately. DD's 3rd birthday is coming up (how can it have been 3 years already?!) coupled with a slew of birthdays the beginning of this month so I haven't been near the computer.

Most of my exercise these days comes from working around the house. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get back on track, I start and then something comes up that seems more important to take care of and I put myself on the back burner again. Really I need to take care of myself and I know it.

CJK, did you want to try to meet up in Sept?

We decided that since we were buying annual passes this year we'd try to get 3 trips out of them so we decided that we'd take our DD to Disney for her 4th birthday next June, but we decided that it would be a surprise, she'll probably figure it out when we get to the airport but we'll see.

I'm going to get back to work. Delaney's party is on the 2nd of June and it will likely take me that long to get the place cleaned up. :)

I'll post again tomorrow after we get back from the gym.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hey everyone! First things first, Happy Late Mother's Day!!! :grouphug: I was going to try to get on here yesterday to send a message but it has been crazy here. I just transferred to another store, had to work on Sunday and then took DW out for Mother's Day so we could spend some time together as well.

Speaking of DW, most of you have heard me mention my concerns about her and her health. Well, I think she is finally trying to do something about it. Saturday, she joined LA Weight Loss. They had a special going on for Mother's Day so we got a really good deal. Plus, as of right now, she is really excited about the plan. If she sticks with their plan to a "T", they say she should be done almost 30 pounds by the time our trip comes up in September. We are both excited about that!:woohoo: :yay: Now, all we have to do is to see if she will stick with it. Please pray.

As far as my update, I was down in the dumps last week with my workout. I was very un-motivated. I just feel like I can't get the same workout at home that I can at the gym and with my knee, I can't do any cardio. Well, I am going back to the doctor on Wednesday to try to schedule the procedure. I just can't stand on my knee anymore so I have to do something. But this week, I have already done one workout and I am about to get on there again to do another. Plus, I have found out that we are getting a gym here where I live. It's just a small place but sometimes that's best, so that is getting my excitement back up a little as well.

Here is to all of your success. :thumbsup2 :cool1: This is the beginning of a new week and we can make it the best one yet, if we want too. Let's get out there and Do It!!

HI!
My name is Kara, I am 31, married and mom to two boys ages 9 and 5. We are spending a week iN Disney on site in November and I wanted to be down 60lbs by then. I've only lost 8 lbs since JANUARY!!! My mom is going with us and just lost 100+ lbs and I don't want to be the "fat" one in the picture!
I need motivation and support though, I can't seem to do it any other way!!

Welcome Kara!! :cheer2:  You've come to the right place for support and encouragement!! It sounds like having a WDW trip coming up is great motivation to get yourself in gear!! A couple questions for you.... What sort of eating plan are you on? What is your exercise plan? Once we know what type of plan you're using, maybe we can offer some more concrete advice. Please keep coming back and posting. We're all in this together!!! :goodvibes

Bubba: Sorry to hear you were so down last week. :grouphug: Do let us know how your appointment goes today. I'm glad to hear that you may be able to go back to the gym again. Congrats to your dw for joining LA Weight loss!! I hope you'll both be able to help motivate and cheer each other on. Just think how fit and fabulous she'll feel in WDW!

o2bacelt: Sounds like you've been busy! Hope you had a nice Mother's Day! It's amazing how you can plan more trips to WDW when you have annual passes isn't it!!?? We're doing the same this year and it's sooo tempting! How exciting that you're surprising DD. It'll be hard to keep it quiet, but oh what a thrill it will be when she finally realizes where you're going! When is your September trip again?

I'm doing really well these days. I've been continuing with my running and I can feel a difference in my clothes. My eating has been fairly under control as well for much longer than my usual 5 day streak! Water has been good too. I even ran today in the cold, windy, damp weather. I just can't bear to go back to the treadmill just yet. In between my running days, I'm doing weight training and pilates. This weekend is the long weekend in Canada so we're planning on going on a mini biking trip. Hope the weather cooperates!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Hey Kara! :welcome: to our family here on WISH. I sincerely hope that you get the help and information as well as encouragement that you may need of are looking for. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of exercise and eating habits are you are using to try to shed the weight? There are many different ideas and philosophies to achieve success. Maybe, with a little more information, everyone here might be able to tell you what has worked for them. After all, we are here to help.

CJK - Thank you for all of your kind words. They really mean a lot. Sounds like you have really kicked up your active lifestyle. Way to go!!:thumbsup2 :yay: You have always been an inspiration to us all.I know I can't thank you enough for all you have done for me.

Brief update - This week has been somewhat stressful at work with all that they are trying to put on me to get done in just a couple of weeks. At the same time, they don't want to give me the extra payroll to pull it off. Retail!! Go figure.

Otherwise, I have tried to get back into the routine of exercising. I think the reason I have been down is because I know what I want to get accomplished but not being able to do any cardio is frustrating me alot.

Also, speaking of my knee, I will be having my knee scoped next Friday afternoon. It should be a simple procedure where I will only miss a half a day at work. I am just looking forward to the pain to go away. I will try to keep you updated as much as I can as everything unfolds.

Last item. DW is doing really well on LA Weight Loss. In her first 2 days, she already has lost 5 pounds. She is getting really excited about how much she could be down by the time we leave in September for our trip. I am so proud of her. I have been trying to be nurturing and supportive by giving her little pet names. Yesterday, I called her and asked, "How you doing Skinny Minnie?". Then, I told her I was going to get an airbrushed shirt for her with Minnie Mouse in the middle. It will say Skinny at the top and Minnie at the bottom. :rotfl2: She thought it was cute and funny but I was actually serious about doing it.

That's it for now. I hope all is going great for all of you. I miss not being able to get on here as much as I used too but know that I think about all of you everyday. You are all my inspiration and my strength. Now, let's get out there and show the naysayers that say we can't do it that YES! WE CAN!! Have a great day!:cheer2: :cheer2:

HI everyone!!! this is my 1st time posting over here, i spend most my time over on the weddings since i am getting married in august at DISNEY:goodvibes my thing is i am 5'7" and 180lbs and i just feel really bad about myself:sad2: i want to look good on my wedding day!! So i am looking to lose some weight between now and aug 30th!!! my fiance and i currently live with my parents which is hard because we dont have our own space to cook and such so we eat out ALOT!!!! besides i dont really know much about cooking anyway!! diets are so hard i have tried ww and basically i find myself thinking of food all day and trying to figure out what to eat and how many points etc, i would like to find a simple easy plan that doesnt require much food prep and not much thought, and not much money because every dime is going towards the wedding which also makes things harder because diet food always costs more money!!!! i am very stressed and busy with work and wedding plans so i dont want to go around thinking about diets all day!!! i was hoping you guys could maybe give me some support and suggestions:) thanks in advance!!! and GL to everyone!!!!:grouphug:

Thanks everyone!

I do WW online and either the Walking Away the Pounds DVDs, treadmill, or walking outside for excercise.

We have weekend plans so I'll check in on Sunday!!

Welcome Belle! Be our guest! We are more than happy to have you here with us. I can see how it will be a challenge for you to be able to lose weight if you are eating out all of the time but it can be done. You need to be very selective on what you eat and drink and really what time you eat. I would also try to push you to learn how to cook some simple but healthy meals. I am a terrible cook but even I can throw something on a George Foreman Grill and cook it up. Otherwise, try to order more water while you are eating out and make sure you leave off the fries.

Update - This will be real quick. I told everyone how my DW had joined LA Weight Loss. Well, she is doing GREAT!!! After less than a week on the plans, she has already lost 10 pounds. :cool1:  :dance3: :cheer2: :yay: Plus, she is talking about how much fun she is having. (She is really enjoying the weight come down on the scale.) It is doing wonders for her and her self-esteem. Just wanted to share real quick.

Hope all of you are having a fantastic weekend!!!
Bryan

Once again checking back in after a delay. School is ending soon, and my trip is near, so I'll be able to post frequently. That is until August when it starts all over again...

Bubba - Don't know if I told you this, so I'm sorry if I am repeating: I had both of my knees scoped at the same time when I was 18. I had constant pain and it really impeded my life. I'll never forget the time when I was walking around my house about a week after surgery. I still had both my imobilizers on and I was crying. My mom came over and said that it would get better, grabbed me under my arms and tried to help me to the sofa. I could finally get it out that I wasn't crying because of the pain, but I was crying because for the first time I didn't have pain. That was over 20 years ago and I know I'm facing knee replacement someday. They hoped I would get 10 years and a pregnancy. I've done far better. Moral of the story: It's worth it. I'll keep you in my prayers on May 25. That's a good day, by the way. It's our 17th wedding anniversary!

Looking forward to our trip. I'm still within 10 pounds of my goal, but I'm thrilled I can be 'bad' and not gain. Not bad considering the stress right now.

Hope everyone keeps on moving in a healthier way. We can do this!

Hey all!

teacher31 - I'm excited for school to be out too! Our last day is 6/15! When's yours?

bubba73- hey Bryan! Your wife's weight loss is great! She must be so proud of herself!

Kara- How's your workouts coming? Are you drinking lots of water?

Belle83007- Congrats on your dis wedding! I'll be there 8/26-9/2. Keep up the good work and you'll reach your goal! I'm sure you'll be a beautiful bride no matter what!

CJK - How was your biking trip? I need to get off the treadmill more and get outside!

o2bacelt - it sounds like your very busy, but taking care of yourself is very important!

as for me.....
I'm just winding down the school year. I've been at the gym but need to start running outside more to be ready for the 1/2 in January! My eating has been pretty good, but could be better lol!

Have a great week everyone!:hippie:

twotoohappy - We get out on May 24. We go back on Aug 6 for teachers, and kids return Aug. 13. I can't wait!

To the WONDERFUL Teachers on this thread, a BIG Thank YOU for being such great contributors to our children!!! You work so hard, and impact so many lives and I just don't think you get anywhere near the credit you SO deserve!! Enjoy your summer, you DESERVE it!!

Bubba- Sounds like things are really turning around for your wife, I truly hope it continues and she gets the AMAZING motivation from you that we all do!! She is truly blessed to have her own "Jack LaLanne". Keep taking it easy on your knee, everything will be fine as long as you don't push too hard! We will be in WDW in Sept. too but looks like we will miss you by a week or 2..RATS:headache:

To all my other WISH "dieting for disney" friends who have been on this thread for well over a year, I AM SO happy to hear of your successes! Even though many things have changed in my life, this thread has been the constant. And even though I don't post as often anymore, I still read almost daily. YOU REMAIN my inspiration and friends and I am thankful for each one of you!!

As for me, I have been working 2 jobs (was SAHM) for the last month. I got a part time job at the Disney Store which I JUST LOVE, but the money is not great. I then got this temporary assignment (5+ weeks) which I also love, but both are making me very tired.

Needless to say I've not been to the gym in about a month..BUT...I've been drinking enough water to float the Black Pearl :rotfl: and really watching my diet. And am HAPPY to announce, have lost 4lbs since I've been here:woohoo:  :woohoo: I do MISS THE GYM terribly and can't wait to get back to my normal routine.

Just wanted to check in with everyone!! Cheers!
TLQ
Lanette:hug:

TLQ - Thanks for the kind word to all of us teachers. I believe that it is a calling, not a job, and it's wonderful to be appreciated. BTW - when do you find out if you won the Disney Job? I voted and am hoping someone I 'know' will win it!

Just got back from working out after a bad day with my 14 y.o. Those with girls can sympathize. Unfortunately I chose today to weigh in. Up a pound. I know it's not the end of the world, and I have been cheating an awful lot lately. Just a nudge to get back on track before we leave in 9 days.

Bubba- Are you still scheduled for Friday?

Hope everyone is doing well. Take care!

Update Good news! I am still alive after my procedure. Everything went well and the doctors believe they got it all. I just have to stay off my leg for another day or so. I am feeling so restless that I got up this morning and started helping with the dishes. That was stupid because now, my leg is stinging. But I had to get on the computer for just a minute and let all of you, my friends, know that all is well and we are expecting a full recovery. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. They have been felt and appreciated very much. I can take my bandage off tomorrow which is good and I will be able to go back to work on Tuesday, just not at full speed.

Anyway, I just wanted to get in touch with all of you. Thanks again for all you have done for me.

Love all of you!
Bryan

Hi everyone! :wave2: Its my first time posting here. I'm getting married in 5 months, and have yet to go to my first dress fitting. :scared: The dress actually fit near perfect when I bought it, but I would still like to lose 30 pounds before the big day and for our Disneymoon! :) I've banned the junk from the house, and am eating better overall. I've also started working out every day after work using various workout DVD's. On the weekends, I walk 2 miles in the morning. So far so good. :)

Thanks for the welcomes everyone!!
DH was out of town so it was a crazy weekend so hopefully things will slow down again.
I do WW online.....and my excercise is usually outside walking around our little compound now that the weather is nice and swimming in our pool . When its not, I have a treadmill to use and also lots of Walking Away the Pounds DVDs.
My problems are snacking and eating too late at night. I really need to make those my first too goals along with more water.

Glad you are ok!!

I just wanted to post a quick hello to my "dieting for disney" friends! Sounds like people are doing well as they continue in their busy lives! Bubba: I'm glad you're doing okay!! I've been thinking about you.

I'm doing okay. My exercise has been fantastic and food has been manageable. We've had major social events happening, but I've kept portions small while still enjoying everything. I now run 5km, 3 times a week and I'm feeling good. I still have to fight the urge to walk, but so far so good! In between running, I do pilates and aerobics. I'd like to get back down to the weight I was in January. I've got some shorts to wear that are too tight right now. Argh!

Hope all my American friends had a great long weekend!! :goodvibes

:welcome: PirateKitty. I am so glad you have decided to join us on your journey to a healthier you. I also would like to give you Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. As someone who is coming up on 14 years of marriage, I know the blessings and the trials that come along with it. I hope you find encouragement as well as needed advice from us here. We have a GREAT family here. A family that has had a lot of success. I can't say that we have lost as much as they have on the Biggest Loser but we, as a group, have lost several hundred pounds. It really is enough to make you feel like :dance3: . Good luck and let us know if we can help.

I want to thank everyone for all of your kind words and thoughts. Today was my first day back to work. With how much standing I have to do, it was tough. I got home and I couldn't bend or straighten my leg all the way. My doctor's office called and talked with DW and found out that I was still having some pain and wondered if I went back to work too soon or if I am trying to overdo it. Well, I really have been trying to take it easy for the last few days doing practically nothing but it seemed like yesterday, it was hurting while I was over at my parent's house to celebrate the holiday. (I did make the others a little mad at me while I was there. My Aunt had gotten the Disney and TV versions of Scene It, the board game that is interactive with a DVD. Well, they thought I would have an unfair advantage with the Disney game so we played the TV game. We even played it teams of husbands and wives. Well, to make a long story short, DW and I won BIG. My Dad was saying that he wanted to play a game he KNEW he could beat me at, Cruise Trivia. At that point, I said it was time for me to go home and take my medicine. Thank God for Loritab.) Anyway, I am going to start back doing some light upper body work tomorrow night just to keep my body in motion. I will not push my knee at all.I just can't let all that I have worked so hard for turn back into fat. I will keep in touch and let you know how rehab is going.

Let's make sure we achieve all of our goals, not everyone else's standards. This what sets us apart as being different, having dedication and being unique.:cheer2:
