Dieting for Disney

Nice to see some more familiar faces here!!!! :thumbsup2

Sorry for the delay. I was too ashamed to post! :sad2: I seem to be continuing with my trend of being great during the work week and lousy on the weekend. A big part of that is because our weekends are full of social events surrounding around food but during the week, we're on our own schedule. This coming weekend is no exception, but at least I'm running the 6km run as well. Wish me luck!! I've done this particular event 3 times before, but I've always walked. This year, I want to run - at least some of it! I'll post next week to let you know how it goes. I think I can....I think I can....

o2bacelt - Looks like I'll miss you in December. :( We'll be there from the 9th to the 23rd. Have a great time though - we'll compare notes when we get back!!

Hope everyone is having a great week!! My exercise is still pretty good, water is fair but food............:scared1: I'll try to make healthier choices this weekend, but boy it will be difficult (two dinners out, one bridal shower with martini's and one afternoon visit with friends who are gourmet chefs). Honestly, why do I do this to myself???? I'd better run that race on Sunday or I'm in deep trouble!!!!

Have a great weekend!

:welcome: :welcome: Crystalcml!! We welcome you to our little family. I sincerely hope that you get the motivation and information that you may need or desire. Feel free to share or ask anything that you may want. If you have read over any of the pages here, I hope you have seen that we have bonded very closely and have been able to share just about anything. We look forward to reading your success stories.

CJK - Once we start backsliding on our eating habits, it is very hard to go back. It's tough for all of us. For me, being from the South, we fry everything. I can't go out or even go over to my parent's house to get something to eat. For the last couple of weeks, it seems like I am home just to shower and sleep so there isn't a whole lot of time to really plan a healthy meal. But I still do what I can. And that is the whole point. What has been your words of wisdom for so long now? MODERATION! We all want that cookie. That's not going to kill us as long as we have one. It's when we splurge and have a dozen that is going to double cross us.

Down here, we have been having radio commercials for Subway that have been funny but at the same time, very true. They have a couple go thru a drive-thru and start ordering but instead of ordering a double hamburger or something like that, they have changed it. They will order stuff like a double butt, side order of thunder thighs and etc... That's what we get when we eat out. It's funny but scary at the same time. Right now, it has been very hard for me to stay in shape or even improve. My knee has been killing me more than ever. It has stopped me from being able to do any cardio and a lot of walking. I have tried to jog just a little when taking out the trash and just that little bit hurts so bad that I have to come back in and massage and apply a heating pad to my knee. I know the next step is going to be to have my knee scoped and I even know it will feel so much better afterwards. I also know the advances in medicine that we have now but I am not going to lie. I am somewhat scared to have the procedure. I have this little voice telling me that I wil be that one in a million that will have something go wrong and never be able to walk again. I know it won't happen that way but I am still scared. I am still doing my exercises at home as well. Wishing I had more room for better equipment so I could get a better workout but I am trying to stay as active as I can. I guess I am just asking for a few thoughts and prayers to get me over my stupid irrational fear and get my knee taken care of.

Hope all is well! And again, WELCOME to our newest member, Crystalcml!!:woohoo: :cheer2: :grouphug:

:welcome: crystalcml:welcome:

Hey everyone! I start back tomorrow. CJK I'm backsliding also and need to get going. I'll walk with my dd today, but hit the gym tomorrow! I know as soon as I start in on my routine again that I'll be fine, it's just the starting. urghhh!

Sorry about the knee again Bubba. I'm working through issues with my right hip and right knee. I'm out of whack too. Just do the best that you can do and that's all anyone can hope for. :goodvibes

I'm a part of another wish thread but am going to WDW in late September. There's like 20 more weeks till then and I need to lose 1- 1.43 pounds per week to be in my goal range. So far so good!

I do need to exercise a LOT more. And drink more water. :rolleyes1

Hello all!

Had to share some good news. Now within 10 pounds of my goal. Down two sizes from my last year's summer trip to Disney, which was two sizes down from the previous summer trip to Disney. Motto to be learned: Slow and steady wins the race. I haven't taken it off the fastest, but I can now indulge, not feel guilty, and not gain. If I do gain a pound or two, no biggie. I know what to do to get it off. Such a great feeling.

Heading out for my walk. Take care everyone, thanks for sharing in my joy, and have a wonderful week!

Hello all!

 You go girl! Congrats!

Slow and steady definately is the way to go!

UtahMama - a pound or so seems reasonable enough! Just keep moving and drinking lots of water. Don't get frustrated if you don't lose one week because many times I'd plateau for a week or so and then lose 4 pounds. Keep us posted!

CJK - How did the race go?

Hey Bubba! How's the knee? I know it's frustrating, but keep an open mind and think positive. Have you tried pilates? It helps with my knees and hips.

To all of my happy friends.... I'm back on track and pledging to exercise everyday for the month of May.

I did Pilates last night and have my gym clothes with me for after work. I'm going to kick butt this month! Anybody else with a May goal?

:yay:

Hi everyone! Nice to see so many people posting!

twotoohappy - I'll join you on that May goal! Glad to hear you're back on track. I'm back on track........as of today! Oy! I actually didn't totally lose control this weekend, but it certainly wasn't a success either. We can do it!! You're off to a great start!

teacher31 - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! You have already won the battle of consistency! You must love the new you and you've adopted the philosophy that this is a lifestyle change, NOT a diet. Way to go! Enjoy your summer in even SMALLER clothes!! Woohoo!!:cheer2:

UtahMama - You can do it!!! I've followed your other thread as much as I can (you guys are posting maniacs! ;) ). You're so darn inspiring. Now that the nice weather is here, hopefully we can all get out more and be more active. Hope you stick around and post how you're doing! :goodvibes

Bubba: I'm so sorry to hear about your knee. I can certainly understand your concerns regarding scoping your knee. Your concerns aren't irrational. I'm sure all of us have had similar fears with something in our lives. But as you said, you may see a remarkable difference after the procedure. Just know that we're all here for you and will be sending you prayers and positive thoughts. :goodvibes

Well, the race is over. *drumroll please*...........I RAN THE ENTIRE THING!!!! :woohoo: I can't even believe it!! I've always been the queen of run/walk/run/walk but not yesterday! Dh stayed right by my side which says a lot about him because my pace was MUCH slower than his desired pace. I'm now considering doing another mini triathlon this summer (called try-a-tri). I did it 3yrs ago and now that I'm in better shape, it would be fun to see how I can beat my old time. We have a very busy summer in store though, so I'll have to think about it more seriously. I just wanted to give you all an update. I'm off to do pilates now. I think I'll lay off the treadmill today! ;)

Have a terrific week! :thumbsup2

:cheer2: Yeah!

Way to go! We knew you could do it!
and yeah for your DH supporting you:goodvibes

I went to the gym for 45 min. I did the treadmill and weights.
I'm back on track!

WOW!!! What happen? It seems like our family has had a rebirth or an explosion, if you will. This is fantastic.

UtahMama :welcome: To our family of Disney fanatics achieving a healthier lifestyle. Your goal of 1.5 pounds a week is not only achievable but the right way to do it. Just be mindful of your choices. Be focus and intense during your exercise and you can average 2 or 3 pounds a week. Please feel free to come back as often as you would like to let us know how your doing.

CJK That is fantastic!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: What you have accomplished in the last 3, 6 and even 9 months is amazing. You are truly an inspiration to all of us.:woohoo: :yay:

Teacher31 10 more pounds to reaching your goal. What an awesome feeling!:woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:  You have worked so hard to get where you are. I know you have to be exstatic(sp) on what you have done. I would also like to say that it is really good to here from you. We have missed you around here.

Twotoohappy Isn't it great to get back into the swing of things? That is the hardest part of any break. Starting back up. Just remember to not overdo it. Give your body a chance to get back up to speed. You have taken some time off. If you try to go right back to the same type of workouts that you were doing before hand, you will hurt yourself and end up taking more time off to heal back up.

Update I did my exercise tonight on my gym at home. I did about 45 minutes of exercise. I just wish I had a way to do cardio. I know I shouldn't worry to much about it right now because of my knee but I just feel fat and out of shape. I don't like that and it scares me. Having been fat all of my life and knowing how my body reacts, I am afraid I am going to go right back to where I was. I am actually going to try to get in the gym to use their cardio equipment to get a good sweat going. I will be very mindful and careful of my knee. I promise.

Update2 I got a HUGE slap in the face tonight. I went online to pay my credit card bill and there was a message on there telling me to call their customer service line. So I did. Come to find out, someone has "stolen" my card number and has started charging stuff from Yahoo.com. My last statement had $160.00 worth and the rep told me there was more coming in. We cancelled the card and they are sending me out another one ASAP. They are also sending out an Affidavat asking me to circle all the charges that are not mine. On top of that, DW and I have been looking seriously hard at the possibility of getting a new house. We have really never been satisfied where we are and with her new job, we feel like we have enough income coming in to be able to take the plunge. Now, with this, we are a little scared to do anything right now.

Now for some good news. I have found out that as of right now, there is a Shuttle launch scheduled for when I am going to the Astronaut show in June. :yay: :cool1: I am so excited that I can't see straight. I know it is more than a month away but I want to go ahead and go down there now. The Space Program may be the only thing that I love more than Disney. (Please don't hate me for saying that.)

I hope all of you are doing well but by the way it sounds from what I have been reading, I think you all are doing really well. Keep up your energy levels as well as your intensity levels. This will be the keys to our success. Have a great day!!

Yeah! When I was at the Boardwalk I could see the trail of the launch and I thought that was cool!

I did Pilates today and crunches! I'm not letting May go by without a fight!

Thanks everyone. I think I'm still glowing! ;)

Bubba- I'm so excited about the launch for you! I remember reading your trip report about your visit to the space center! What a wonderful thing to look forward to!

Twotoohappy - Way to go!!! You're starting the month off right! I hope to follow your lead!

I'm back to healthy eating today. I also did 45min. on the treadmill. Yesterday I did 45min. of pilates. My size 8's are getting WAY too tight so my goal is to fit into my clothes comfortably again by the end of the month. Please hold me accountable!!!

Here's to a healthy and happy week for all!

In keeping with the whole accountability thing........

I did a squat/weight/pilates/stretch 50min. dvd today and food & water are on track. I WILL reach my goal!!!!!

How's everyone else doing?

You go girl:banana:

I'm checking in! I haven't missed a day yet!!!
Everyday I've worked out for an hour
and today was an hour and a half!

How's everyone else doing?

I was thinking of how great this thread is and how cool
it would be for a Dismeet! I'm going the last week in
August (every year), the week before Thanksgiving,
and next April vacation(the week of the 15th). Anybody else
going to be around then?

A DIS meet would be fantastic!!! However, twotoohappy, I don't think our Disney dates overlap! We're in Disney twice this year, once in mid September and for 2 weeks just prior to Christmas. We haven't made travel plans for next year yet, so maybe next year!! Way to go on all that exercise!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I've been following your lead and haven't missed a day yet either!! Plus, I ran another 5km yesterday at a different charity event!!! It was a last minute decision, but it turned out great! I wish I could say that I found the running easier than last week, but it was still pretty tough! Hopefully it will get easier as the summer progresses.

How's everyone else doing? I hope the weather is as beautiful where you are as it is here this weekend. I'm off to do some gardening! :goodvibes

Hey everyone! It has been an incredibly busy week. This was my last week at the store that I have been at for the last 2.5 years. I will be going back to the store that I started at as of tomorrow. This is a good thing because it is a lot closer to home so less gas will be used and the manager there is the one that does the most promotions so that will give me a better chance to move up. I'm excited.

As far as exercise goes, I have used my gym 4 times this week and I will get back on it today. And I did a lot of walking yesterday. My family and I went house looking yesterday. We spent over 3 hours walking thru different houses, going up and down stairs and hills, and just had a real good time looking and planning for the near future. I have also started getting more intense on my ab work. Not only am I doing my crunches but I have also started some "intense twists". If done right, those hurt but that just means they are working.

I love the idea of a Dismeet at Disney. The thought of being able to sit down with all of you for a little while and really spend some quality time excites me. But the only planned trip I have right now is during the first week of September right now. Everyone else is going at a later date. I hate that but this is the only time I could get off from work. We need to try and see what we can do for next year. I guess I had better start working really hard so if we ever do this, I won't embarrass myself.

Hope all of you are having a fantastic day. As Emeril Lagasse would say, "Let's Kick It Up A Notch!!".

Hi!

Well I took a rest day on Sunday. My dog injured herself playing with another dog, so this afternoon I am hauling her to the vet to get her back in action. My Peanut will get weighed in, and I am pretty confident they'll be pleased with her weight loss! Since I had her file out, I made her reservations at the kennel for our WDW trip in Sept!

On Saturday I met a neighbor at the gym to try a "Body Pump" class. It is a weight lifting regimen set to music & I enjoyed it. I used 10 pounds on the barbell and hung in there for the hour. There were a few times I thought, "I could up the weights for that sequence." There was also a few times I couldn't finish all of the reps. I was proud of myself to try something new!

But today I am still sore from Body Pump! I have Pilates tonight and I might hit the gym just for cardio. My muscles clearly need to rest a bit more before I tear them up again at the gym.

Also ds wants to buy roller blades, so I am thinking I might try that again. My only trouble is I can't stop. DS, age 6, responded, "You just go in the grass and fall down to stop." Having used just that method in previous roller blading attempts, I could only smile & agree it was effective!:rotfl:

Have a great week everyone! I am entering week 3 and hoping to hit #160 this week.

I've been trying to find additional ways to work exercise into my day. While I was standing guard over the temperamental photocopier at work, I decided to kick off my shoes and jog on the spot. After that I threw in a few lunges, modified pushups and then used two bottles of disinfectant as weights! It sure made the whole photocopying stint a lot more interesting!

I was alone in the office - I'm sure my workmates would have had me carted off to the mental health facility if they'd seen me!

Good luck on hitting 160!

Just a quick check in for me because I'm swamped with schoolwork!
I've been keeping up with exercising everyday and today will be a
long walk/jog with my dd. She wants to go to the icecream store, so we're gonna walk, it'll be a 1/2 hr walk there and 1/2 hr back and then I'll probably do a quick 30min pilates!:yay:

How's everyone else doing?
