Today was my weekly weight in.....

Beginning Weight: 197 lbs

Current Weight: 170 :)

This weeks loss: 1 lb. :)

Total Loss to date: 27 lbs :woohoo:

Goal Weight: 135 :cheer2:

I think the One A Day WeightSmart Vitamins are helping, I seem to have much more energy! I am keeping with the 30minutes on the eliptical and still doing the bowfelx and am up to 50 crunches with 20lbs of resistence.

Good work everyone and bubba you really keep me motivated! :Pinkbounc

silverangel - That is fantastic. Losing 40+ pounds is amazing. I know you have to feel great and not only for your accomplishment but also with the extra amount of energy you have. Getting down to a size 5 is phenominal. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 ......

Hello everyone, happy Tuesday! I wanted to let you all know of something I've found that I am just THRILLED about!

I was watching an infomercial last night (watched the whole 1/2 hour BTW) for the 6 Week body makeover. I honestly think this is what I've been looking for!

I've been working out HARD for nearly 2 months and have only lost 17 lbs. Mind you, I'm very happy with that 17lbs, but as hard as I'm working, it should be a lot more. Honestly, I work out 90-120 mins 6 days per week, including 60-75 mins of cardio (Arc trainer or stairmaster). I finally consulted a personal trainer and he told me I am not eating enough. I started eating as he suggested last week, and voila, 5 of that 17lbs was lost in 1 week after doing this.

Anywho, this system is a custom blueprinting of your body type. It tells you to eat more and workout more effectively. I think this is what I've been waiting for. Problem is, to order it through the 800# could take 3-6 weeks to ship, sorry, cannot wait that long, so I'm going through ebay.

Let me know what you think, I am going to talk to my PT today and see his thoughts. All I know is something has to kick my body into fat melting mode, and working my b**t off in the gym is not as effective as I would hope.

Congrats to everyone on their weight loss, I am off to the gym right now, newly motivated. Have a GREAT week!! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone... It's been a few days since I've checked in, so thought I would today. I continue to walk regularly, and to watch what I am eating. I am trying to find a way of eating I can live with the rest of my life. My principles are
1) decrease fat
2) decrease calories
3) increase fiber
4) increase exercise
5) eliminate night time snacks

I am not perfect on any count, but I am seeing results. I have lost 7 pounds so far (since Feb 20), and am feeling much better in general (more energy more of the time)

Thanks for your inspiration, everyone :cheer2:

I would like to lose 10 before WDW the last week of April, that's two a week and should be doable (of course overall I really need to lose more than I want to admit -- like 100 pounds)

:wave2: Well I am new to this board. Hello everyone. My story will probably be long so pause now and getyou a bottle of water. :teeth: This may be the first post you see from me but just the first of many. We are going in June and I stated I would have a different body when we go. I have gotte to the point where I will not allow my photo to be taken. I amnot huge to everone elses standards but to mine. I haven't weighed this since my first child was born and I was months pregnant.

I had a complete hyterectomy may of 2002. I am 34. I was 125 a year ago. I got to 165. I am in a 10 - 12 and was in a 4 - 6. You have to get to the point that you want a change. I was drinking 4 to 5 Mt Dew a day and cut out all carbinated for 2 months. I lost only 5 pounds. :guilty: discouraging--yes. Giving up- no!! I joined a gym a month ago. I was walking 20 min aday and doing 4 machines 3 sets. I gained 2 pounds. That was prob. muscle :guilty: discouraging--yes. Giving up- no!! My gym has a 30 min session with a personal trainer free so thought :bitelip:
I should be doing Cardio for 60 - 90 mins at least 3 times a week. We should get our heart rate up to 75-85% of our max. beats per min for that 60 - 90 min. Our max is 220 minus our age = estimated beats per min maximum. So by that figure mine would be 220-34= 186 . 75 - 85 % would be 139.5 - 158 beats per minute. He said that heart rate up and substaintal time was the true key. So i am trying it. I also started an intense workout with him today. I was told to be sure and eat 1 hour before and eat a good protien meal after. I have been skipping most breakfast and some lunches which caused my body to store fat. It is hard for me to make myself eat more to lose. He also said eat something every 2 hours like 60 - 90 calories. fruits, vegetables, tuna, fish, chicken, organic, whole grains, nuts. I would still need to eat 3 reg small meals to get the calorie intake. Water consumption should be double the norm during traing he said 1 gallon a day. dumbbell work is optimal for burnng calories. The number 1 thing he said was to have compond movements. 3 sets of 10-15 reps needs at least to start the burn. 30-45 minutes 2 times a week. Just like if we don't eat enough it is bad working out to much is...past target zone would burn muscle. after this workout your metabolism should be up for 4-6 hours. When doing crunches...start in up position, you already have your abs tightened, then down and up. try it big difference. Take a multi vitamin or some source like some of them powdered drinks.

I am not exactly concerned now like I was before about my weight but rather my toning. I have my measurements in inches and when I give my first report from this I will list them. I know my energy level is better and I am already felling better about myself. I just thought I would post all that he has told me so far. You are all an inspration!! Keep it up!! It is for you!!! :woohoo:

Well, here goes anything! I have been reading your posts and you are an awesome group! In looking back, I have only put on about 25-30 pounds in 11 years. I think to myself that that doesn't seem too bad. Well, it is since most of that has been put on since my hysterectomy 2 years ago. It is my goal to lose those 25-30 pounds, preferably by the end of June. But, by May 19, it is my goal to lose 12-15 of those pounds.

So, what's my motivation? My DS9 -- who one day last week said I was chubby. What more does a mom need to hear? Last week, a friend of mine passed my name on to a gym. I went 2x. While I loved my workout, I realized that I do not have 2 hours to drive to and from the gym and workout. So, we bought an off brand bowflex and I LOVE it! My mom and I have challenged each other for our weight loss efforts. We are working out the details, but the general gest is who ever loses the most weight in a 2 week period will be reward by the loser. What the reward will be has yet to be decided. Any suggestions?

Anyway, I have created a workout schedule that I hope I can live with. It is 2 days of weight training, 1 cardio, 2 days weight, 1 day cardio, 1 day off. Each day, I plan to work out at least an hour. So far, so good. My biggest thing is that I am also cutting my portions almost in half! I realized that I was eating so much that there was no way that I could lose. My biggest problem, is the munchies and finding healthier snackie foods other than chips! Any suggestions? I have also cut out my pop! OUCH! That will take some time since that was about the only thing that I drink. Now, it's water and it just doesn't taste as good. ;)

Wow! This was much longer than I anticipated. But I know that there will be a lot of support from you. I weighed in on Sunday and cannot weight to post about my first weight loss!

Hey everyone! I wanted to jump in real quick and tell all the new people, Welcome! I hope that you fine this thread informative and inspirational. From what I have read, it seems like all of you have very obtainable goals as long as you stick to your plans. I really want to commend Pluto's Honey on the comment that your trainer made about eating that often and about taking a vitamin supplement daily. As far as the heart rate issue while doing cardio, I will say that your mathmatics are very accurate but for some people, that is a little detailed. A good rule of thumb is to get to a point where you are breathing heavy and can't really carry on a conversation. I usually try to do my cardio sessions within 25-45 minutes. Honestly, somedays I feel better than others so I can go longer. But regardless, I always break a good sweat and know that I have put in a solid effort. The good news is my bodyfat levels are coming down and I am learning new ways and exercises to increase the thermogenesis levels to burn more fat and get more of that "solid" look. I have always had a little joke about the way I look. It goes like this: From the neck down, I have something to say about the way I look. From the neck up proves God has a sense of humor :rotfl2: :confused3 . I know it is somewhat negative but you would be amazed at how many laughs I have gotten from that statement.

I hope everyone is having a great week. I don't know about everyone else but I know where I live, we are dealing with Spring Break and the kids are out of school. It has made it tough going to the gym and getting in proper amounts of exercise but then I think about how solid I have been all year and realize my body needs a break from the gym to recuperate. Every once in a while, a reak is exactly what is needed. Well, if this is your week to rest, enjoy it. Don't go overboard but just rest some. With that in mind, let's come back next week with dedication and determination to make it the best week yet. Stay motivated and keep moving.

Stay Healthy!
Bubba

Regarding how much to exercise and how hard to exercise... I am on a walking regimen. My walking pace changes, but one way I know I am working at the level I want to is (TMI alert! ) when my shirt is soaked. I love it when I come home looking like I just got off Kali River Rapids.

Hey everyone!! I hope you all have had a fantastic week that has been filled with good news and happiness. I can tell you right now that I am filling wonderful. I have had a bad week as far as getting to the gym and doing my workouts. It has been a very tough week at work but today I was able to leave early and I spent about 2 hours at the gym. When I first got there, I felt like I was dragging and I really didn't want to be there but I thought about all of you and I went on. I worked my back and biceps, did about 200 crunches and then I did 45 minutes on the elliptical. What is amazing is I have more energy right now and I want to do more. I am planning on going to the living room and doing some more cardio of some sort before I go to bed. I am totally energized :woohoo: . I hope there is someway to express that in a way that will energize all of you as well. Let's go run a marathon!!

Ok, I guess I will change gears for a minute. This week, I did go and talk to a couple of friends of mine about my diet. I talked to a nutritionist, a personal trainer and a friend of mine that owns the nutrition store where I get all of my supplements. I have been loosing weight. I am getting some definition but I still feel like I have a soft look and not enough vascularity for as hard as I have been working. Each one of them said the same thing. I am taking in tooo much sodium on a daily basis. This is helping me retain water and keeping me soft. I even had one tell me that if I can drop my intake level to around 1000-1500mg for 4-5 days, I will be able to see a huge difference. Here is the problem. Everything that I routinely eat has a ton of it in there. So I am going to try something that I have never done before. I am going to go the next 3 or 4 days with eating just eggs, chicken, green beans, brown rice and my protein mixes. This will be my attempt to keep my sodium down below where I need to be. I will make sure I make a report on the success of this mission. By the way, I am not suggesting this for anyone or everyone. This is my attempt to make my goal. You can still loose weight with the sodium (not high levels). I am just going for that elusive 6-pack.

I hope everyone of you have a wonderful weekend and let's start next week off with a bang. :cheer2: :grouphug: :woohoo: Stay dedicated and motivated to the cause. We all have the same goal. To be healthier for life and our vacation.

God Bless!

Bubba..we are living similar lives!! I started my new workout program (with nutritionist) and eating program and I can tell you this is one of my problems too...SALT!

I also found out that I am dehydrated. Never would have thought that, but I don't drink enough water. He said 80% of Americans are dehydrated because they don't drink enough water.

Here is what he worked out for me. I need to eat at least 5 times per day (6 is OK if you're hungry late at night, which I'm not). I also need to drink 100oz
of water each day. NO salt, NO fat, NO bread and NO sugar.
YES it was daunting to say the least when I heard this. Anyway, despite much skepticism and depression, I decided to do it.

He told me to try it for 5 days and see what results I'm getting. He guaranteed that I would lose at least 7lbs in 5 days if not more. And that this weight loss would continue for as long as I choose to do the program. After the "induction" period, you are allowed to eat breads and sweets (sparingly) and even have a total eat whatever you want cheat day every week and still keep the weight off.

I must say, with 3 days under my belt (today being 3) it is AMAZING!! I've lost 4lbs already and feel great. I did have a major headache on Sat. from lack of caffeine (I used to drink about 36oz of Pepsi One everyday). Dr. said I could have a little diet soda everyday, but just enough to keep headache away. There is usually sodium in Diet soda too

Anyway, I feel great, I've finally lost a decent amount of weight and I haven't worked out at all since Friday (DH has flu). I am not going to weigh myself until Thurs and hopefully get a great treat when I do. This diet is not easy, but it's not as difficult as I thought either. I definetely need bread and salt in my life so I will need to be conscious of it from now on.

Thanks Bubba for your great stories, and believe me, you do the same for me. Here's to losing my last 25lbs before 5/28 :drinking1

wow LionQueen....good for you. That sounds like horrible diet though. Can you use Splenda instead of sugar? The sodium and fat I can stay away from....but I love my splenda. I've replaced all bread products in my house with wheat bread (which I hate...so I won't touch).
Guess I should follow ya'll's lead and try and make an appt with a nutrionist.
Well, this week for me really sucked. Got really depressed On Monday and by midweek I was fine. But we went mega shopping this weekend and went out to eat for lunch and dinner yesterday and dinner tonight. Good thing DH is gone for another week so I won't have to worry about eating out this week and maybe we won't go anywhere next weekend when he comes home. But at least I ordered steam veggies with all my food this time. Ate those first so I'd fill up on them before I tackled the "bad stuff".
I bought some ankle weights today...I'll try walking with those next time. Any added resistance is supposed to be good for you.
Well, good luck everyone and I hope your success is going better than mine :)

I'm not new here, just have a different name on my desktop vs. laptop. Don't use laptop often.Anyway, I've been reading this thread since it started.
I last went to WDW in Oct of 05. My kids 1st trip. I didn't want to be in too many pictures and was reluctently in a few. Trying to put someone in front of me, standing a certain way, so as not to look too bad. Well it didn't matter and made me quite sad getting home and looking at our Photopass pitures that were so nice, but I wasn't happy with the way I looked in them. So I wouldn't buy them. Now I have no family pictures from our first trip together.

So after the new year, talked DH into buying a treadmill. LOVE IT!!!! When I get on it. Really need to be more disciplined. Anyway, I was also thinking of joinging WW. After seeing this thread, I joined on March 4th. So far I'm down 8.6 pounds and I am hoping to get my 10 pound ribbon this Saturday.

We are going to WDW again this Oct and I will have those beautiful family photos, I will be in as many pictures as I can and will be a thinner me!!!! This is what keeps me going. I'm hoping to lose 8 to 10 pounds a month.

I'm really enjoying this thread and looking forward to us all getting thinner and healthier!!!

Thanks for starting this and letting me be a part of it!!!

WOW! Excercising does really work! :rotfl: :rotfl2: I always new it would but WOW! Last week I began counting calories, cutting out the pop completely (I was a 20oz every day or so), and excercised 6 days and gave myself a day off on Sundayfrom both calorie counting and working out and I lost 4 pounds! :Pinkbounc :woohoo: I didn't expect that at all. I am so pumped that I know that I want to keep going because I now know that I can lose this weight. Now I also know not to expect that type of weight loss every week, but it is a great start.

I can't believe the difference those 4 pounds made. I wore a dress shirt 2 weeks ago with a body suit, this week it was all me! No more pulling the buttons apart! I am getting even more excited about our May trip because I know that I am going to look good!

Sorry for rambling on! But I am soooooo excited that I am looking forward to week 2. This is a huge deal for me!

Loving Cinderella..thanks for the comments. Yes, it is a pretty strict diet but it's getting easier day by day. Yes you can use splenda and salt substitute, which is the only thing that has been getting me through :rotfl2: I lost another pound today and it just keeps me motivated. I have to eat all fresh prepared foods, no packaged, although I cheat and eat the precooked chicken strips..hey...I'm still human right? Anyway, I think that was my problem, salt and not enough water. Anyway, another day another couple oz?

DisAddict...Welcome to this thread, so glad you're here! We also went in Oct. and I didn't like our pictures either :rolleyes2 I reluctantly bought them just so I wouldn't disappoint my family..so glad I did. Now I can look at those pictures and compare them with my new pictures in May :woohoo: In any event, I hope you have continued success and congrats on your loss already :yay: :woohoo:

PixieMagic...Congratulations!!! That is fantastic! Isn't it amazing what a few pounds can do..keep up the good work!

I have only gone to the gym 2X in the last 10 days, and this is where my weight loss has been most dramatic..not going to the gym..Ironic huh :confused3 I am going back today and I am so excited.

Thank you all SO much for helping me, and although I may never meet any of you in person, you are helping me so much with something so important in my life...THANK YOU ALL!!! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Hi all,
I hope you all don't mind if I join you. I do WW's as well. Two years ago I got to my WW goal and then gained a little until I did the WDW 1/2 Marathon last January. Then I did another 1/2 Marathon in Ocean City MD in April. I was down to within 5 pounds of my WW goal by the end of June and then I had a trip to Vegas, a 2 week Disney trip and an extended weekend to Alabama/Tennesee. Then for some reason in the fall I stopped exercising and stopped watching what I ate. I had gained from the trips in July/Aug & Sept so it was adding to what I had already did.

This is my 2nd week back on track and it feels good. I lost 1.8 pounds last week and I have WI tomorrow night at my WW meeting. It feels good to be in control. I also want to get back into exercising again. I miss how I felt. I would like to maybe consider doing the 1/2 marathon in WDW again next January.

I am going to WDW again at the end of July for two weeks so I really want to get a handle on my weight prior to going. I MUST fit into my shorts for the summer because I refuse to by larger clothes!

Hi everybody
It is great to see so many people are choosing to eat healthier. I'm currently trying to lose between 40-50 lbs. I have lost 9 so far. Although I am not dieting for Disney, I am dieting to go to the Iroc race, busch race, and the pepsi 400. You all sound like you are doing a great job, and keep it up.

Yesterday I fit into pants that are 2" smaller than what I usually wear. No sucking in the tummy or cinching anything... they really fit! Now THAT'S what motivates me!

Beginning Weight: 197 lbs :sad2:

Current Weight: 167 :)

This weeks loss: 3 lbs. :)

Total Loss to date: 30 lbs :teeth:

Goal Weight: 135

It has been a really stressfull week for me. But today I feel centered and finally at peace. I didn't exercise at all this week but I did stay with the diet. I still lost this week, I think stress can do that. But I am under 170 and lost 30 lbs so I am happy. I will start back exercising and taking my vitamins today. Thank you for all your support.

Lionqueen- I have some questions about your diet. When you say No salt, No Sugar, No Fat do you mean added sugar and salt. Like if your eating and egg you don't put salt on it? Or do you mean when you look at ingreadients on a package it cannot contain salt or suger or fat. Can you give me an example of what you are eating so I can understand? It sounds like it might help me. Thanks.

I want to start off real quick by welcoming all the newbies :grouphug: . I hope you find the support in encouragement that we all need not only in our diets but in our everyday lives. If you have any questions or concerns about anything, feel free to ask. We are all going through the same thing and we all want you to succeed. :woohoo: :cheer2:

Zippa D Doodah - That is great! I know what kind of feeling that is to be able to fit into smaller pants. Keep up the great work and all of your goals will be achieved. You are a winner! :cheer2:

thekidsmom - That is fabulous!! A 30 pound weight loss is a wonderful accomplishment. I am doing the same kind of diet that thelionqueen is doing so I am going to try to expain as much as I can. It is generally impossible to eat absolutely no salt, no sugar and no fat. What you want to try to do is to eat as little as you can. Let's see if I can explain. If you look at all your pre-packaged foods, look at the sodium and sugar content. Of course, sodium is salt. Salt will retain water in your system. It is still possible to loose weight with the sodium in your diet but you will have more of a "soft" look instead of a hardbody. It has been explained to me to try to keep your sodium intake below 2,000 mg per day. Now, that sounds like a lot and it is but if you look at what you are eating, you may find out that you are actually taking in a lot more than that. I found out I was taking in between 4 and 5,000 mg per day. Some of my single meals had over 1,500 mg by itself. As far as sugar goes, sugar is a natural and instant source of energy which is good but it has bad side effects. Let's list a few. Sugar has a short energy span so while you do get this immediate "burst" of energy, you will fade quickly. What are you going to do then? Either take a nap, be very lethargic (?) or take in more sugar. The more sugar you take in, the more calories you have to burn. Otherwise, it is going to turn into fat. Now, for the bad news. Sugar is a carbohydrate. The later in the day that you take in sugar the more apt it is to be stored and turn into fat. Now for the good news. Not all carbs are bad for you. If you want some at night that is fine as long as you make smart choices. The best type would be green vegetables. Just do not add salt or butter or even cheese. I hope that gives you somewhat of an understanding. I guess the best bit of advice is to stay away from pre-packaged foods. I know it takes longer but the healthiest way to eat is to make sure you are eating fresh.

Everybody, you are all doing a wonderful job of motivating each other and motivating me. If there was a way for me to ride a bike or jog or lift while I was reading this thread and everything that you all have put down, I would have been well past my goal and would have reached that ever missing 6-pack (abs not drinks). May you stay blessed, healthy and motivated. :sunny: :Pinkbounc :teeth: :rotfl: :teeth:
